Good balance of fruit, minerality, acid, and texture. Showing some nice development, this might even get better. (170 views) | | Tasted by Grape_ape on 8/14/2023 & rated 93 points: This was drinking really well. Nice stony minerality, orchard fruit. A bit tight on pop and pour but fleshed out and showed some secondary depth as it warmed and opened up. Sad to see my last bottle go (446 views) | | Tasted by DougLee on 7/17/2022 & rated 93 points: Pale gold. Nose of apple core, grapefruit, white flowers, stone. Layers of etched, deep-reaching flavors of granny apple, white pear, grapefruit, and flint cut with tart stoniness on the palate. Exceptional purity and detail as it warmed up from chilled state. Stony spine balancing bright acidity. Long finish of tart white stone fruit. A great showing. (1037 views) | | Tasted by SteveLong on 7/4/2022 & rated 93 points: Wow this is crazy good. Lemon with bright acidity and minerality. Long finish. This wine has years to go still. (1056 views) | | Tasted by Steve Brickley on 7/30/2021 & rated 95 points: Allow about an hour or two of air. Fully resolved. Acid bite slight but there. Slight butterscotch but not in a big way. The character of Porter Bass evident. Easy to drink with fruit just starting to take a background. This has years left in it although mine from the winery to 53 degrees since release. lovely. So enjoyable. (1440 views) | | Tasted by sdr on 8/7/2020 & rated 92 points: I found another bottle I didn’t know I had. It’s quite good for mature California Chardonnay. The fruit is deep and rich, it’s definitely not too oaky and the balance is very good. What didn’t happen is any connection to the soil or complexity. It gets tiring after the second glass as I lose interest but I can’t deny the impressive concentration. (1857 views) | | Tasted by xwine on 6/14/2020: My last bottle of this wine. Initially a bit dilute. Nice, but no depth. Then after an hour or so it filled in quite nicely. Creamy, lemony, good energy. (1522 views) | | Tasted by sdr on 4/30/2020 & rated 90 points: Much better than the previous bottle but to old world palate me it doesn’t excite. The alcohol is spiky, especially when the juice is beyond icy cold. The fruit is decent; the hint of tropical places it firmly in California. Somewhat vigorous but past it’s best. Medium full. Okay but maybe younger vintages are more enjoyable. (1542 views) | | Tasted by Neecies on 9/9/2019: I drank this wine. I know I drank this wine because I wrote the name down. But it was wine #21 and I didn't write anything else. Hope it was great. [sheepish look] (1621 views) | | Tasted by jjct on 8/22/2019: Had this next to the 2011 PB. Very nice wine, but comes off as softer, shorter, and less mineral than the 11. (1330 views) | | Tasted by AccaDacca on 5/16/2019 & rated 92 points: Crisp, clean and terrific (1540 views) | | Tasted by sdr on 4/16/2019 & rated 88 points: Disappointing, I hope it is just this bottle. Seems faded and lacks energy. Underneath I see a restrained style of California Chardonnay, avoiding the excess of oak, coconut and sugar of the Marcassin, Peter Michael and Aubert versions at the table that were more attractive to everyone else. Perhaps the Ceritas was too old. (1696 views) | | Tasted by cartime on 9/11/2018: Drinking beautifully now. (1797 views) | | Tasted by J @ y H @ c k on 5/1/2018 & rated 92 points: By far my favorite Ceritas. The acidity is in check and there is sweet fruit without sugar. Excellent mouth feel and a fullness with complexity, Mostly white fruit with perhaps a hint of citrus. (1600 views) | | Tasted by dougie on 2/13/2018 & rated 93 points: Going strong. (1996 views) | | Tasted by Seafoam Manor on 10/7/2017 & rated 93 points: A lot of CA Chardonnay producers give a lot of lip service to their aspirations of being "Burgundian", but Ceritas is one of the few that lives up to the claim. This continues to put on weight with age, but remains impeccably balanced. This hits you with ripe, but not overblown fruit, a slight savoriness, very nice acidity and a lingering sense of minerality. The use of oak and the malo notes are judicious, leaving you with complimentary elements rather than a buttered 2x4. Confusing this for a Chassagne-Montrachet wouldn't be all that shocking. In an odd way, this style of CA Chardonnay reminds me of the slightly oversized 2015 Burgundy whites. This is in a very good spot, but should hold for several more years. The only "bad" Chards I've had from Ceritas have only suffered from being popped too early. 93+ (3115 views) | | Tasted by texaswinelover on 2/1/2017: Wonderful today. Rounder and fuller but not fat. Acid balanced which I greatly appreciate. Lemon, citrus notes dominate. (7073 views) | | Tasted by kcp on 1/15/2017 & rated 93 points: Ditto my last three comments on this wine. (7191 views) | | Tasted by alanr on 9/25/2016 & rated 92 points: Light hay in color, shows wisps of toast on the nose, though this wine sees no new oak; medium intense, round, delicious fruit, there is good balancing acidity, though it is not prominent, finishes with a nice dose of umami richness, and just a hint of honeyed sweetness. Too easy to drink this in large gulps. (7106 views) | | Tasted by Seafoam Manor on 7/30/2016 & rated 94 points: Initially this came off unpleasantly tart and acidic, which left me pretty concerned. This really needed 45 minutes of air to round into for, which seems a bit crazy for a six year old California chardonnay. That said, given the appropriate air, this is a very good bottle of wine and comes very close 1er Cru Burgundy. Very good acid, a base of minerality, a kiss of new oak and lush, ripe, citrus and orchard fruit. Excellent balance, nice finish but not particularly long. This still could improve over the course of a few years and it is refreshing to not be concerned with premox. I can't overstate the difference that 45 minutes of air made with this wine. (4938 views) | | Tasted by Nutty08 on 6/5/2016 & rated 93 points: This was in a terrific place with fine acidity and plenty of golden fruit. Long mineral finish. Great stuff. (4507 views) | | Tasted by Schwarzer Hund on 5/24/2016: Lemon citrus dominates more than our previous bottle. Dense fruit with substantial minerality and acidity making it very refreshing and good match for our grilled seafood dinner. This is a good Sonoma wine to insert in a blinded tasting with some good Chablis. (3670 views) | | Tasted by LARich on 5/15/2016 & rated 92 points: Gorgeous steely and nicely balanced Chardonnay. Drinking well now. Can last another 2-4 years easily but won't likely change much. Lovely. (3512 views) | | Tasted by RyanJames on 5/6/2016 & rated 93 points: A terrific Sonoma Chardonnay - A subtle sweetness to the citrus and yellow stone fruit that tells me this is not Burgundy, probably CA. However unlike the typical oak-infested culty bomb, there is a flinty minerality and tinge of acid that makes this impeccably well-balanced. Maybe not quite as rich or broad as I like my Chardonnays - like a Batard or 1er Cru Chassagne - but excellent nonetheless and extremely well-made. Lots of life left, lots of character...one of the best producers of the Burgundian varietals in CA today. (3417 views) | | Tasted by texaswinelover on 4/30/2016: Super crispy and acidic. Bright lemony citrus and curd. Clean finish, long and tart. (3071 views) | | Only displaying the 25 most recent notes - click to see all notes for this wine... |

| Ceritas Producer websiteChardonnay The Chardonnay GrapeUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountySonoma Coast * Sonoma Coast AVA (Wikipedia) * Sonoma Coast AVA (Wine Institue) |
