Nose: very, very muted but light strawberry and red apple
Flavor: tart and tangy strawberry, plenty of acidity, dry mineral finish

Tasted by Motz on 2/22/2015 & rated 87 points: Showing nicely. Funk, meaty and barnyard notes. (3057 views)
Tasted by Mike Kopanski on 10/4/2014 & rated 87 points: Saturday Tasting at The Gourmet Shop Columbia, SC 10/4/2014 (The Gourmet Shop, Columbia, SC): An old standby, we drink several of these each vintage. This one is maybe not as fruity as some earlier vintages. It does have a little more wet earth minerality that really contributes to a very balanced and enjoyable tasting experience. Refreshing and mouth cleansing without being overly acidic. The expected backbone of cherry and strawberry fruit does not disappoint. (3474 views)
Tasted by jkvedar on 9/1/2014 & rated 86 points: Classic rhone rose. Very good summer drinking. (3153 views)

Tasted by vin0vin0 on 7/20/2014 & rated 87 points: Not bad at all, some complexity but nothing extra special. Decent amount of ripe red cherry, citrus and medium acidity. (714 views)

Tasted by farinas on 6/6/2014 & rated 89 points: Just starting to try some of these Roses. Nice mineral nose with some mild flowers and stones, a touch of smoke. Clean palate with steely and lightly buttered acidity, very champagne-like finish exhibiting some oxidation. Clean, crisp, and entertaining - yep a Rose, that is. (814 views)
Tasted by Motz on 4/12/2014 & rated 87 points: Better than quaffable, highly enjoyable. Lots of earthy and mineral substance, nicely balanced, without any off-putting element. 87-88. (937 views)

Château de Campuget

Producer website

U.S. Importer (source of add'l info)

Château de Campuget in Costieres de Nimes is a beautiful wine property dating back to 1640. The soil is typical for the region, with many stones that force roots to find water deep in the lower layers of clay, contributing additional character to the wine. The property is managed by Franck-Lin Dalle, named after one of his dad's heroes, Benjamin Franklin.

Château de Campuget which has belonged to the Dalle family since 1941, produces AOC Costieres de Nimes wines.

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
