Tasted by william perry on 6/22/2013 & rated 90 points: Great right out of the bottle opened up beautifully. Smooth nice cherries and spice held up well (2395 views)
Tasted by Rickfell on 5/3/2012 & rated 88 points: nice Dark fruit and smooth mouth-feel, let 1/2 the bottle sit overnight and it oxidized (3188 views)
Tasted by joshwoodward on 2/28/2010 & rated 91 points: Wine Club: Spain (Bowling Green, OH): Nice stuff. The group wasn't sold on this one, but I really enjoyed its mellowed structure and slightly medicinal smoothness. Nice age. (3613 views)
Tasted by baroloboy55 on 2/13/2010 & rated 91 points: I love this wine. It's continues to be in a very fine place. See my prior note. (3006 views)
Tasted by jdbcolumbus on 11/7/2009 & rated 93 points: Great balance of dark fruit, brightness and dusty tannin. Drinking very well right now but by no means over the hill. (2778 views)
Tasted by vintage72 on 8/10/2009 & rated 92 points: This is probably at its peak now. Can def taste the age from two years ago. (2431 views)
Tasted by Larry Brooks on 8/8/2009 & rated 90 points: Great nose right out of the bottle. Dark fruits, good concentration, medium finish. Decanted, and seemed to fade after3-4 hours. Probably time to drink up. (2168 views)
Tasted by joshwoodward on 4/30/2009 & rated 91 points: Stimmel's Market: Spain (Bowling Green, OH): Cloudy brick color. Earthy nose, with a little dark fruit, medicine and lambic sourness. Juicy, medium+ tannins, medium acidity and body. Great balance of oaky age and fruit. $40 (2386 views)
Tasted by sarciero on 3/23/2009 & rated 92 points: Very nice wine. Elegant, smooth, nice balance. Very little oak. Drinking very well but plenty of life left. (2118 views)
Tasted by EhrlichDY on 10/25/2008: Sweet grenache nose and concentrated fruit on the palate. This wine is in a good place right now. (2560 views)
Tasted by no leashes on 4/23/2008 & rated 92 points: Delicious dark, sweet cherry, mineral, cedar flavors, rich, supple, silky texture, great structure and balance. Paired with sea bass on the grill in a caribbean marinade, worked perfectly. (2436 views)
Tasted by EhrlichDY on 1/16/2008 & rated 90 points: Drank this last night at Jace's. This bottle showed better than any other that I've had. Several were somewhat thin but this bottle has a nice nose of dark fruit. It was medium bodied with concentrated flavors of fruit and a lingering finish. After this bottle, I can see why others scored this in the 90's. (2866 views)
Tasted by no leashes on 11/13/2007 & rated 91 points: Delicious, rich dark fruit and tobacco flavors, silky texture. Excellent match with well seasoned chicken breast, mexican style (2798 views)
Tasted by EhrlichDY on 10/28/2007 & rated 89 points: I opened this to pair with pizza. I echo the thoughts of the previous note. The fruit has faded leaving an acidic finish. It tasted good with food but not on on its own. This is no longer or maybe never was worthy of 90+ points. It lacks power. (3068 views)
Tasted by rpfarwell on 9/27/2007 & rated 89 points: Good value but a little disappointing in what I was expecting from a Parker 94 point bottle. Nice deep color, nose like toasted beef, taste was acidic fruit. Good with food. What I found missing was the headiness and after taste/glow - that I associate with a mid 90 range wine. Perhaps I'm just not used to the grape or perhaps it is a different alcohol % than I am accustomed to. Very enjoyable but not in that great/near great catetgory - but for $33 perhaps I was expecting too much. (3009 views)
Tasted by vintage72 on 9/3/2007 & rated 92 points: Delicious. Drank with Chorizo stuffed pork roast. Drinking really nice. (2839 views)
Tasted by tcfishler on 4/11/2007 & rated 91 points: Medium dark red-garnet. Effusive raspberry fruit aromas complemented by stones, very sweet herbs, and a few floral notes. Very juicy-sweet in the mouth, with ever so slightly dried cherry/berry fruit that features admirably persistent sweetness. Tannins sneakily creep up at the end. On the second day, this is tighter on the nose and more dominated by kirsch, but silkier in the mouth. From there this wine started to decline, however, suggesting that it should be drunk up in the next 4-5 years. (3315 views)
Tasted by plhew on 1/7/2007 & rated 93 points: Very enjoyable wine. I agree with parker on this. Going to really enjoy the remaining case which I have. A good buy. (3536 views)
Tasted by baroloboy55 on 12/23/2006 & rated 91 points: I'm liking this a good deal and a fine way to get may occasional fix of carignan. A whiff of toasty oak when first poured that made me think this was a wine to give as an xmas present, but it settles down nicely. Lots of rich, extracted, almost candied sweet grenache but backed up by good acid and structure from a healthy dose of carignan and I assume some other french and spanish varietals. Immensely satisfing to drink and lots of extract and fruit. I don't get the chalkiness of rioja and ribera del duero, but I don't get the over oaked international style of some of the entry level priorats. It's middle of the road to slightly restraine modern but it got gobs of fruit and a fair amount of structure and for less than $30 is a great value. This is a very well made wine and with raw materials are superb. Happy to own. (3605 views)
Tasted by espia on 11/6/2006: Nice, elegant, very drinkable red. Red fruit, not oaky like lots of spanish wines. Italian in character even (2546 views)
Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 9/5/2006 & rated 91 points: Soft cherry, oaky nose; like a super ripe Cali Merlot/Cab with creamy cherry palate; medium finish (1770 views)
Tasted by JohnSh on 6/20/2006 & rated 91 points: This wine is from the Costa Brava region of Spain, a blend of mainly old vine grenache (50%) and carignan (35%). Deep ruby with purple hues, and a nice nose of earthy redfruits, pomegranates, iodine and a hint of menthol. The medium-full bodied palate is velvety smooth, full of deep redfruits with slight, ripe tannins on the finish. Mouthfilling, tasty flavours here, and an interesting, well made wine which to my palate hits the A- mark. Ready now, but certainly cellarable too, and should develop more complexity on the way. Vinos de España - Wines of Spain (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior) | Wikipedia
Wine Map on weinlagen-info

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net

Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.
