Still drinkable, but a bit tart. (712 views) | | Tasted by bradfriedlander on 2/13/2017 & rated 85 points: It is getting a little old. Slightly woody. Still has some good fruit, but not enough. (1320 views) | | Tasted by 1961Vintage on 12/27/2016: Significant complexity but a bit too much oak for me. But for $20...no regrets. (1216 views) | | Tasted by Racer117 on 6/22/2016: The light color hides this wine's explosive character. Add your favorite ripe Chardonnay descriptor here _______. You're all correct. The moderate acidity keeps this in the game but my preferences have definitely changed. Anyone care to trade a Puligny-Montrachet or Chassagne-Montrachet for my remaining bottle......
Last glass addendum: much more balanced. I guess a little air and food is (are?) needed. (1623 views) | | Tasted by BoulderWine on 3/29/2016 & rated 91 points: My last bottle of the 2011. The golden color has deepened just a bit and has a nice sheen. Ripe tropical fruit and some oak on the nose. The fruit has held nicely with moderate acidity and the oak very much in the background. Still quite enjoyable. (1678 views) | | Tasted by kcp on 8/16/2014 & rated 90 points: A light touch with modest richness, nicely balanced fruit, good acidity, modest oak. Should still improve. (1886 views) | | Tasted by dynedain on 6/27/2014 & rated 83 points: Soft, olive flavors, hit of horseradish on the nose. let it warm up as it's far too subtle for chilled drinking. (1530 views) | | Tasted by pdemaio on 6/3/2013 & rated 92 points: big and rich. A bit overwhelming, but excellent. Lemon and acid support round malolactic goodness. PDQ92+ (2383 views) | | Tasted by AllRed on 4/19/2013 & rated 91 points: Dinner with Friends (E & S Fish Company, St. Charles): Opened by Rick & Cris. Pale color. Aromas of coconut, banana and apple with a nice dose of oak. Medium- to full-bodied, coconut milk, white fruit, toast and oak with a clove-like quality on the finish. The oak is well-used here. Very nice. (2413 views) | | Tasted by Rmwood69@gmail.com on 4/2/2013 & rated 92 points: Granny Smith and honeysuckle on the nose. Nice light toast and pear that transitions into nice mineral on the finish. Overall very nice chard that should only improve over the next few years. I will be waiting a while to open the next one. (1954 views) | | Tasted by Mloux44 on 4/1/2013 & rated 92 points: A very pleasing wine. Great nose. Hints of butter and a very smooth finish. A great first offering from Pete and Cathy Seghesio. (1398 views) | | Tasted by rpenn77 on 3/25/2013 & rated 91 points: Reserved but rich chardonnay. Good minerality. (1230 views) | | Tasted by mle50 on 3/14/2013 & rated 85 points: I thought this might be an interesting new wine since I love the Seghesio Zins. The grapes were sourced from great vineyards, but the wine was a little underwhelming. May a little time in the bottle will help. (891 views) |
| Journeyman Producer websiteChardonnay The Chardonnay GrapeUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountySonoma Coast * Sonoma Coast AVA (Wikipedia) * Sonoma Coast AVA (Wine Institue) |
