Tasted by GoBlue2002 on 5/12/2024 & rated 93 points: In a great spot now. Still atomatic and vibrant with well balanced acidity. Fruit driven mouth filling pinot -- a hedonistic cali pinot with some years on it. Bit what stands out for me is the nose -- just makes me want to crawl in there and soak it all in.
Mother's Day wine.
Last bottle. (93 views)
Tasted by jmottern on 4/23/2024 & rated 94 points: WOW, what a great bottle of wine. Deep dark red big body (14.4%) wine. Super nose followed by a silky smooth melody of cherry and plum fruit. Very long finish. (194 views)

Tasted by VinhoVerde on 10/29/2023 & rated 91 points: Deep color for a Pinot Noir. Plum and oak aromatics. Soft up front fruit flavor. Ok varietal definition but fruit driven. Dark fruit taste. Soft mature character. Good finish. Not likely to improve, drink up. (854 views)
Tasted by Thief on 10/15/2023 & rated 94 points: Black cherry. Sassafras, cherry cola. Still balanced and drinking great. (834 views)

Tasted by jmottern on 7/9/2023 & rated 94 points: Big deep dark red bottle of excellent wine. Mouth filling "round" plum and soft dark cherry fruit. Delicious long finish. (1000 views)
Tasted by jmottern on 5/21/2023 & rated 93 points: An excellent dark red big wine (14.4%). Fragrant nose followed by a smooth melody of plum and dark cherry fruits. Very satisfying finish. The wine is prime drinking now. (1143 views)

Tasted by denisontb on 1/1/2023 & rated 92 points: Delicious !! Wonderfully expressive nose. Great structure, super smooth, long finish. In an outstanding place and no signs of fading. KB is truly exceptional. (1004 views)
Tasted by corkscrews on 10/23/2022 & rated 91 points: A nose of cherries and spice, medium amber in color. A medium to full bodied Pinot, with currants, cherries, some dust and spice on finish, in a good drinking zone. www.winelx.com (1100 views)
Tasted by jimmythesaint on 9/14/2022: Still lively with years ahead. Nice dried herbs and spice. (1445 views)
Tasted by tomlee on 9/9/2022 & rated 94 points: Ruby red in color. 14.4% ABV. Pretty nose of red fruits, cloves and forest floor. Medium body with perfect acidity. At 9 years of age there is less upfront fruit than when I last tried this but the wine is still incredibly appealing. Cherry, cranberry, baking spices and earth on the palate. The finish is long and supple. Gorgeous Pinot Noir that is aging gracefully. Best over the next 1-2 years. (1152 views)
Tasted by jmottern on 8/25/2022 & rated 94 points: Another Kosta Browne hit. Deep dark red medium big (14.4%) wine. Pleasant nose. Very satisfying plum and black cherry fruit with a hint of cinnamon. Long finish. (1131 views)
Tasted by jmottern on 8/25/2022 & rated 93 points: Dark red big body (14.4%) wine. Wonderful nose followed by equally delightful plum and black cherry fruit with a hint of raspberry fruit. Beautiful finish. (965 views)
 Tasted by GoBlue2002 on 6/18/2022 & rated 92 points: Father's Day wine.
Quite aromatic on opening yet seemed to subside over time.
Red fruit, cherries, spice. Somewhat rich with a touch of tart.
This hasnt evolved much since my last bottle consumed in 2019.

Tasted by gogiants925 on 12/20/2021 & rated 92 points: Pnp at restaurant. Very elegant Pinot. Bright strawberry with a little red cherry on the nose, classic RRV characteristics. The strawberry and cherry continue to palate with a little cola maybe. Very round and silky feel. Nice long smooth finish. Really good wine. A little over priced IMO, but really enjoyable. Thumbs up from the table. (1832 views)
Tasted by DesMarteau on 12/19/2021 & rated 93 points: just so consistent....gains depth with air....perfect integration of strawberries, blueberries, kiwi...long finish...spice...really so easy to drink (1748 views)
Tasted by Teaky on 12/18/2021: Popped and poured from 375, only had one glass which was knocked over by an over exuberant dog tail before I could finish. On the nose get a lot of vanilla and spice, flavors are similar with only a bit of red fruit buried underneath. Overall was a bit oaky and didn’t show much fruit , maybe I drank it too young? Mild tannins, low acid, moderate finish, overall a little disappointing but perhaps I didn’t give it enough time. Was served a bit cold as well and not in proper glasses so may have not given it a fair shot. (1456 views)
Tasted by williamswhine on 10/16/2021 & rated 93 points: Pop and poured. Reliable producer-- nose of cherries, red fruit, dirt/earth. Nice full bodied pinot-- mature red fruits, little tart, longer finish. This is not your ordinary red fruit pinot-- it has a lot more depth, flavor, and finish. (1921 views)
Tasted by rustyRudy on 10/14/2021: Medium dark red. Pretty nose of raspberry tart, vanilla and spice. The fruit has tamed down, tart red raspberry, cherry, strawberry , nice expression of Russian River valley Pinot. In spite of the original professional tasting note it is going strong and drinking very well and not old. (1720 views)
Tasted by davudvl on 10/5/2021 & rated 91 points: Don’t know why it’s not popular anymore with the wine snobs. Maybe because it’s too expensive and not a good QPR? I found this bottle to be quite enjoyable. Lots of cherry flavor with some spice. Long finish. (1373 views)

Pinot Noir

Varietal character (Appellation America) | Varietal article (Wikipedia)
Pinot Noir is the Noble red grape of Burgundy, capable of ripening in a cooler climate, which Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will not reliably do. It is unpredictable and difficult both to grow and to vinify, but results in some of the finest reds in the world. It is believed to have been selected from wild vines two thousand years ago. It is also used in the production of champagne. In fact, more Pinot Noir goes into Champagne than is used in all of the Cote d'Or! It is also grown in Alsace, Jura, Germany, the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Romania, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, and so forth, with varying degrees of success.

Pinot Noir is one of the world's most prestigious grapes. It is very difficult to grow and thrives well in France, especially in Champagne and Burgundy. Pinot Noir thrives less in hot areas, is picky on soil, and deserves some oak storage.

Pinot Noir, or Blauburgunder / Spätburgunder in German, is a blue grapevine - and, as the German name suggests, the grape comes originally from Burgundy in France.

The grape, which thrives in calcareous soils, is used primarily for the production of red wine, and it is widely regarded as producing some of the best wines in the world. The wine style is often medium-bodied with high fruit acidity and soft tannins. It can be quite peculiar in fragrance and taste, and not least in structure - which may be why it is referred to as "The Grapes Ballerina".
Pinot Noir is also an important ingredient in sparkling wines, not least in champagne since it is fruity, has good acidity and contains relatively little tannins.
The grape is considered quite demanding to grow. The class itself consists of tightly packed grapes, which makes it more sensitive to rot and other diseases.

Pinot Noir changes quite easily and is genetically unstable. It buds and matures early which results in it often being well ripened. Climate is important for this type of grape. It likes best in cool climates - in warm climates the wines can be relaxed and slightly pickled.
In cooler climates, the wine can get a hint of cabbage and wet leaves, while in slightly warmer regions we often find notes of red berries (cherries, strawberries, raspberries, currants), roses and slightly green notes when the wine is young. With age, more complex aromas of forest floor, fungi and meat emerge.

In Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Hungary, it often produces light wines with less character. However, it has produced very good results in California, Oregon and New Zealand.

With its soft tannins and delicate aroma, it is excellent for white fish, chicken and light meat. For the stored wines you can serve small game. Classic duck breast is a matter of course, a Boeuf Burgundy and Pinot Noir are pure happiness.

Pinot Noir loses quality by over-harvesting.
Pinot Noir is prone to diseases, especially rot and mildew. Viruses cause major problems especially in Burgundy.
Pinot Noir are large round grapes with thin skins. Relatively high in alcohol content. Medium rich tannins and good with acid.
As a young person, Pinot Noir has a distinctly fruity character such as raspberries, cherries and strawberries.
A mature Pinot Noir, the taste is different. Cherry goes into plum and prune flavors. It smells of rotten leaves, coffee, moist forest floor and animal wine. This must be experienced.
In warm climates you find boiled plum, some rustic, little acid.
If the grapes are over-grown, the wine will be thin, with little color and flavor.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
