Drink this wine now. I do not think it will improve much more with age. (745 views) | | Tasted by tominasia on 10/7/2021 & rated 91 points: I enjoyed reading Tannicbeast's review and agree this is drinking very well right now. I opened it about 4 hours ago with the thought that I'd just have a taste and let it sit overnight since I didn't want to decant. I'm now thinking I'll at least save the last half of the bottle for tomorrow. Smooth, rich, dry with just enough fruit and earth. Needless to say I'm enjoying this bottle a lot. (732 views) | | Tasted by TannicBeast on 2/28/2021 & rated 92 points: Med + ruby with a purple core and a hint of garnet on the rim. Med + nose of ripe blackberry, plum sauce, a hint of mint, leather, caramel and lots of sweet baking spices from the oak. Dry, but very fruit-forward, with med acidity, med to med (+), smooth, resolved tannins and high alcohol (14.5%). Full-bodied, with med (+) flavor intensity and a nice long finish. At or close to its peak, IMHO, but it should continue to show well for several years. Great QPR from a classic producer. (1084 views) | | Tasted by jdjtk on 5/11/2019 & rated 94 points: Drinking window is now. Dark complex berries, smoky leathery taste. Good QPR. Will order more. (2077 views) | | Tasted by YankeeRobio on 12/6/2018 & rated 94 points: cassis, huckleberry, leather. Smooth (2270 views) | | Tasted by Matt Scott on 2/25/2018 & rated 93 points: Juicy and well-centered, this is in a desired drinking window and will continue to do so for years to come. Blackberry, plumb cake, iodine, grilled rosemary and hot brick. A long finish and fine tannins that are strewn nicely. There’s depth and old school tendencies. Drink now - 2027. (2871 views) | | Tasted by ScottMN on 10/7/2017 & rated 91 points: Will be adding a few bottles to my cellar to be opened in a couple of years. I expect it to soften up a bit. Otherwise let it breathe if drinking now. Tasty wine an hour after opening. (2989 views) | | Tasted by CheviotCellar on 8/18/2017 & rated 87 points: Probably should have decanted longer. But still, had it open about 30-90 minutes. Solid wine, very balanced but didn't get any depth or remarkable character from it. It's a good Alexander Valley cab, probably in the 87-89 range, depending on how long it ages or has to open up. All the 90+ ratings on cellartracker are questionable (with 3 of the 11 ratings coming from the same person, who has written 16 ratings total). Would not buy again. (2921 views) | | Tasted by stschutz on 8/15/2017 & rated 93 points: Elegant nose, thick and viscous cherry palate, smooth and balanced. Drinking wonderfully right now if you like the heavy fruit forward bombs of this type. Would buy again. 8-13-17. (2380 views) | | Tasted by rloyot on 6/6/2017: really good QPR (2366 views) | | Tasted by Zach Lane on 5/21/2017 & rated 93 points: Great pop and pour. Opens up quickly within the hour. Classic California Cabernet and great value at $44 a bottle. Going to pick up more of these gems. (1773 views) | | Tasted by Zach Lane on 5/10/2017 & rated 91 points: Smooth and silky 4 hours after opening. Great structure. Well balanced tannins. Might peak in 3-5 years. (1293 views) | | Tasted by Zach Lane on 3/25/2017 & rated 94 points: Killer Cab... took about 3 hours to fully reach its potential. Smooth tannins, very full bodied... highly recommend! (1275 views) | | Tasted by Tym4wine on 3/8/2017 & rated 94 points: Fantastic wine. Drinking beautifully right now. Full- flavored with a fruit-forward style. Blackberry, blueberry, and cassis. Smooth with well integrated tannins and voluptuous. Simply a lovely wine today, or in the years to come. (1356 views) | | Tasted by mutiger93 on 10/21/2016: Doug likes. Tasted at the winery. | Ferrari-Carano Producer websiteCabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonReserve The Wine News | Wine Country This Week | Wine Lover's PageUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountyAlexander Valley Alexander Valley Winegrowers Association | Wikipedia
