Tasted by tward on 10/14/2020 & rated 87 points: Bought this semi-randomly about five years ago and it has slumbered. Drinking well now, a bit on the ripe side for Chinon, nice if not particularly complex, yet typical; fine tannins indicate it could go out several more years. 12.5% abv. Very good. Enjoyable food wine. (738 views)
Tasted by Finare Vinare on 9/26/2017 & rated 88 points: The nose is still fairly youthful, with lactic notes of butterscotch, black currants and forest berries, cut grass and a slice of green bell pepper. Underneath, there are signs of development towards mushrooms and cooked meat. Tastewise just short of medium in everything, except the acidity which is clearly above average. The lightish tannins are somewhat green and astringent, with a slight wooden bitterness on the finish. A typical Chinon, but not much fun tonight. The fudgey notes are definitely a problem, while the savoury side is more exciting. Here's room for improvement over the next five to seven years. (2015 views)
Tasted by Martin G on 8/7/2016 & rated 91 points: The development of this wine over a couple of years has been very good -- it is still young, but there is deeper complexity. Nose: interesting elements of flint and mineral are more apparent now than a year ago. Palate: Flavors of blackcurrant and blueberries still very prominent, with typical cabernet franc freshness. Nice balance overall, with food-friendly acidity. (1552 views)
Tasted by Martin G on 8/22/2015 & rated 91 points: Just what you want from a Chinon rouge. Lovely blackcurrants in nose and on the palate. Juicy and bright. Fine but tangible tannins. Good acidity. Nice balance, medium long finish. Dry, very food-friendly. Serve at ca 16 °C. Good to drink now. (2061 views)
