Tasted by JFW on 9/20/2023 & rated 89 points: Sooooo... I know this has the characteristics of excellent Cali cab. Super inky. Concentrated. Shrub brush. Berries. I guess I can respect and appreciate it for what it is. But just not our preferred style. Oh, well. Good to know what you do and don't like. Tons of sediment. Enjoyed on Sonja's birthday with lasagna at home. (119 views)
Tasted by redz on 3/13/2022 & rated 92 points: Mellowed from my last bottle 4 years ago. Rich, full-bodied cab, from a tough year. (348 views)
Tasted by Takeshi on 11/21/2020 & rated 89 points: High alcohol content, smooth linear finish, straight bitter, tannin are gone. Little fruit. Cassis, raisins, and Alcohol on the nose. No structure or complexity. (725 views)
Tasted by John McCabe on 10/17/2020 & rated 92 points: Some depth and power but the fruit was a bit austere for my taste - might have been the challenging vintage or maybe the bottle wasn't stored properly - bought it from K&L as a back vintage. The more recent bottlings are excellent, though a bit pricey. (936 views)
Tasted by John McCabe on 12/9/2019 & rated 92 points: A little better than the previous bottle I had - very dark, black, brooding fruit. Missing a bit of charm but makes up for it with power and concentration. 92+pts. (1120 views)
Tasted by John McCabe on 12/2/2019 & rated 92 points: This is impressive in some ways - there is plenty of power and extraction, though the overall profile is quite brooding and uninviting - likely on account of the weak vintage. Having tasted a more recent, solid vintage, this is off the mark but can be useful at the right price (I got three in auction for about $42 each which was not bad). (1077 views)
Tasted by Pluecht on 2/13/2019 & rated 92 points: Really drinking nice right now (1022 views)
Tasted by lgermain on 12/8/2018: Mabbetts (851 views)
Tasted by redz on 5/4/2018 & rated 92 points: Agree still young and tight. Decant. Deep dark fruit lurking. Looking forward to trying more bottles in a couple years. (1005 views)
Tasted by Pluecht on 11/12/2016 & rated 93 points: Great mouth feel. Tan is still tight. Better after a few hour decant. Hold. (1258 views)
Tasted by WineWright on 9/10/2016 & rated 92 points: Probably one of the best 2011 Napa Cabs that I have tried thus far. The wine is aromatic, rich, and bold, and mostly bereft of the seemingly prevailing vegetal characteristic I encounter with the '11 vintage as a whole. Solid wine for the price, esp in the challenging vintage. (1182 views)
Tasted by Randito on 8/21/2016 & rated 94 points: A very nice cab, paired well with rack of lamb! (997 views)
Tasted by iamandyc on 5/10/2016 & rated 91 points: Great right out of the bottle but a little green note developed and fruit fizzled with air on 1st night. Recovered on the second night and shows promise. Very good for the vintage. (1201 views)
Tasted by seckhart on 2/13/2016 & rated 94 points: Wow. Excellent balanced cab. Nice on the nose and drinks very smooth. A touch of oak and great with steak or to drink on its own. Not many tannins but probably can age another 4-5 years. (1140 views)
Tasted by jnocera on 2/2/2016 & rated 94 points: Amazingly great wine. Very subtle nose perfectly balanced on the palate. Very little tannin good structure. (959 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
