Tasted by Rer on 2/25/2017 & rated 93 points: Buy again! (2089 views)
Tasted by WineGold on 2/18/2017 & rated 91 points: Very nicely done. 13.5 % alcohol with a lovely balance betwixt tropical citrusy fruit and acid. Pineapple, melon, honey and wet stone on the nose. Palate leads with citrus, tropical fruit, minerals and rock. Nice lengthy finish. A nice, balanced wine from Mike that's drinking well right now and has the body to improve for at least three to five years and drink well another three to five after that. Enjoyed a lot. (Drinking overlooking the ocean from balcony!) (1628 views)
Tasted by haldolugr on 11/5/2016 & rated 88 points: Really nice wine. It's got lots of citrus fruit with a touch of cream. I personally like a little more acid in my whites. (1648 views)
Tasted by ageverett on 8/19/2016 & rated 94 points: Damn, this is good. Just a perfect combination of depth, character and drinkability for me.

Glad I was able to get more of the 2015 version. (2282 views)
Tasted by odds on 7/2/2016 & rated 92 points: Opened for lunch in NY. Consistent with the '13 SB, it is a 'young' version of it. This time, we gave it some more decanting time, which allowed the floral nose and full rounded taste to open up (about 1.5-2 hours). Like in the last tasting, it's 'crispy' so to speak compared with the '13. The house have voted pretty clear on the bottle, with two refills. The remaining nose and floral notes are like the ones in late may, and the only additional feedback to offer would be to give it a decanting. It does bring good results! (92+) (2048 views)
Tasted by scott w on 6/28/2016 & rated 90 points: Not quite as good as the 13 imho but still a buy, more tropical fruits than the 13, no grassy-ness in this bottle, medium acid still quite delicious with truffle risotto and roasted chicken. Better served chilled. Thank you David Gibbs for the bottle. (1382 views)
Tasted by budman on 6/18/2016 & rated 91 points: Fresh and crisp!! (1210 views)
Tasted by jcassi01 on 6/8/2016 & rated 89 points: Got a lot more pear and lychee on this last bottle of mine, and I hate to say that I didn't like it as much as I did previously. I felt like the effort to bring richness took away from its SB identity...like Mike was trying to make a Chardonnay out of SB grapes. Having said that, it tastes good, and people that don't prefer a typical SB's bracing acidity will like this bottle. (1144 views)
Tasted by odds on 5/31/2016 & rated 92 points: Opened for friends and fellows post dinner @ NOLA. Certainly in line with the '13 SB of Becklyn, and a good 'young' version of it, still somewhat more 'crispy'/'refreshing' compared with the '13. I set a bottle side for aging to see how it develops, but I would certainly note its well worth drinking now: The citrus and floral on the nose are not as strong as they were on the '13 at PnP. It remains on the dry side, and imho the lychee notes are equal/maybe even little stronger than the '13. Better on the chilled side. The friends vote of the bottle:

Three joined Becklyn's mailing list on the spot. And the bottle was drank in full. (Closing note: I think it got better since Jan/16 when I tasted it for the first time- longer finish, greater floral...) (1070 views)
Tasted by AngryPrez on 5/30/2016 & rated 90 points: light and crisp - wet stone taste is primary upon immediate pour, seemed a bit disjointed - give it an hour of air and it all really comes together. Lovely SB. (1268 views)
Tasted by t_moderne on 5/22/2016 & rated 90 points: Pop and pour and served slightly chilled.
Light color. Served with food (assorted cheeses, and rotisserie chicken' in case you were wondering).
Bright wine with notes of fresh apricots and a lime citrus note. Quite inviting. There is some wet stone element. Light on its feet with a good core of fruit and acidity that keeps it all in balance. (1130 views)
Tasted by jaxpaj on 5/11/2016 & rated 92 points: crisp and clean. Great wine for a warm day. (1533 views)
Tasted by Screameagle on 4/23/2016 & rated 92 points: One of the best sauv. blancs I've consumed in a long time. I absolutely love the Beckan cabs and now the sauv blancs. Lovely wine that is drinking so well now why wait. So happy I've got three more of these to drink over the summer (1105 views)
Tasted by budman on 4/22/2016 & rated 91 points: Consistently good!! (978 views)
Tasted by BornToRhone on 2/7/2016 & rated 92 points: 750ml; PnP; This wine has a pretty lychee and citrus nose with hints of grass. It is a medium weight wine, heavier than wines from Sancerre. Flavors of grapefruit with white stonefruit and again, hints of grass. I enjoy the Mike Smith sauv blancs from McGah vineyard. (1436 views)
Tasted by LongViewCellars on 1/31/2016 & rated 92 points: Not as good as the 2013, but had similar qualities. Going to give it until this summer until I open bottle #2 to see if she has opened up at all. (1409 views)
Tasted by jcassi01 on 1/31/2016 & rated 90 points: A clean, crisp, varietally correct Sav Blanc. It was fresh and balanced, great for seafood. For $30 though, low QPR. (1247 views)
Tasted by ageverett on 12/25/2015 & rated 94 points: Having blown through the 2013 version of this wine (and loved every second of it), was very happy to pop the first 2014 while preparing Xmas dinner.

Very similar to 2013 - a killer white wine. Lean, smooth and singing. Not a trace of oak or butter or anything heavy - this is made to be enjoyed. Wish I could buy it by the case. (1815 views)
Tasted by GalvezGuy on 12/14/2015 & rated 91 points: Popped and poured. Nose of fresh cut grass, chive, lychee, and citrus. On the palate, more linear and precise than the 13 with grapefruit, chive, lychee, and lime zest. Crisp finish. Good value for the money. Drink or hold. (1281 views)

Varietal Character

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
