| Community Tasting Notes (average 87.9 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 9 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Vini Ciclismo on 3/22/2020 & rated 91 points: Golden lustre. Fragrant, herbaceous and honeyed, lovely balance. Medium weight, a delicious blend of flavours, finishing long and clean. Tropical fruits, lemon, lanolin, crushed dried herbs, a little honey, all wonderfully blended. So smooth, excellent balance. Drinking well now, probably got longer. (763 views) | | Tasted by Innertällmo Bryggeri on 1/28/2018 & rated 87 points: A bit of bottle variation on these. This one was quite oxidised, but with more fruit remaining than the earlier bottles. Not bad. (1132 views) | | Tasted by Innertällmo Bryggeri on 7/3/2016 & rated 84 points: Funky, somewhat oxidized, way past its prime, but still interesting, not for everyone (1307 views) | | Tasted by Innertällmo Bryggeri on 2/7/2016 & rated 83 points: Over the hill, some nice apricots and a interesting saltiness, the acidity is still remaining and there is quite a bit of oak. The fruit is however entirely gone. (1401 views) | | Tasted by Vini Ciclismo on 12/25/2014 & rated 90 points: Rich Yellow colour, not especially dark though. Grassy, dried herbs, soft gooseberry and a little lanolin/lemon. Soft to medium bodied, reasonable depth and quite a crisp long finish. Flavours mainly lemon, lemon curd and passionfruit with a distinct dried herbs and cut grass edge. Good balance of flavours, and good structure. Has kept very well and seems to have further potential. (1709 views) | | Tasted by pepmi on 4/14/2007 flawed bottle: Corked. (3195 views) | | Tasted by bevetroppo on 2/1/2007: How not to drink a wine. Discover a bottle in your refrigerator and have no idea how it got there. Come home from work one night to find your wife has started to cook with it. Shove it back untasted into the refrigerator with a loose stopper and forget about it. Open it up two weeks later and pour a glass. Now if this wine tasted like bad sherry it could only have been my fault. But miraculously it didn't. There was a lilting grapefruit fragrance and some fruit with a straw-like finish, and only minor signs of oxidation. What is this stuff? Clearly there was something really good in here (it's 7 years old for god's sake) before I butchered it. No rating under the circumstances except for the zero that should be tattoed on my forehead. Note to self, figure out how it came into my undeserving possession. (3213 views) | | Tasted by Cal Bear on 8/22/2006 & rated 92 points: Fabulous. Bright, long, intense, complex. White floral nose. Flavors of grapefruit and fresh cut grass predominate. Very versatile with different kinds of (sea)food. Excellent value. (2562 views) |

History of Bordeaux
History of 1855 Bordeaux Classification
"2009 is all about ripeness, with wines impressively packed with ripe fruit and high alcohol levels. They are showy, in-your-face, and full of pleasure. The 2010s have the fruit and alcohol levels of the 2009s, but with a compelling freshness on the finish that balances the fruit and provides a perfect sense of structure." - Ben Nelson
"2016 is a landmark vintage in certain spots of Bordeaux and it should be remembered as one of the most inspired campaigns of the last 40-50+ years." -Jon Rimmerman "The quality of red Bordeaux in 2016 was universally lauded – although the response to the en primeur campaign was muted. Quantity was high too, with the equivalent of 770 million bottles of wine produced. An exceptionally dry summer with cool nights eventually, thanks to mid September rain, resulted in small, thick-skinned, ripe grapes, and the wines are marked by high tannin and acidity, with superb aromatic fragrance." - Jancis Robinson
"2017 was complicated, but there are some excellent wines. Expect plenty of freshness and drinkability from wines that will offer excellent value, and others that will rival 2016 in terms of ripeness and ageability. But they are likely to be the exception not the rule, making careful selection key." - Jane Anson
"In the past, a vintage such as 2022 may have been overripe, raisined and low in acidity but 2022 had a sneaky little reservoir in its back pocket - a near perfect marriage of cool/cold/rain the previous winter and the previous vintage that literally soaked the soils (a key to why 2022 is not 2003...or 1893)." - Jon RimmermanGraves Vins de Graves (Conseil des Vins de Graves) - Read more about Pessac Leogan Graves and its wines |
