Tasted by Kpsornes on 6/9/2023 & rated 93 points: En godt lagret GG fra Leitz til rekene i dag! Dyp gul farge. Lukter gul steinfrukt som apritkos og fersken, honning, eple og litt petroleum. En utrolig konsentrasjon og høy syre! Mye av det samme i smak som i lukt, men også litt salt mineralitet. Meget lang og behagelig ettersmak. (165 views)
Tasted by Dugis on 6/5/2022 & rated 90 points: Honey, petroleum, tropical. Great balance. Very smooth (200 views)
Tasted by R J Lewis on 12/17/2020: Lovely pale gold colour.
N: medium (+) intensity. Aromas of ripe peach, apricot, maybe some tinned, exotic fruit character. Some botrytis? There an honeyed, richness to it suggesting so, but balanced by freshness. Some biscuity notes to.
P: Lovely texture, so supple and smooth with the acidity backing it up. Added flavours of lanolin coming through, joining those noted on the nose. Long finish. Hint of bitterness on the finish but kept in check.

This is a rich, ripe, rounded dry Riesling with some apparent botrytis influence which suggests sweet notes. It's at a very nice level of maturity at the moment so whilst I'm sure it will hold, I would suggest drinking now. Not one for Riesling heads chasing pure minerality, and it falls short of a religious experience, but a delicious complex wine. (438 views)
Tasted by MicklethePickle on 6/30/2019 & rated 91 points: Good color and legs. Secondary aromas of lanolin and sheepswool. This has good balance but seems lacking a little depth. Very good, not stellar. 5-13-15-8: 91/100. (872 views)
Tasted by AudunG on 6/29/2017 & rated 91 points: Tasted with Leitz. Tropical, and mineral aromas, with some petroleum. Intense, full bodied, concentrated and generous. Plenty of fruit. Became more refined and elegant after a while in the glass. (1003 views)
Tasted by jmcmchi on 7/16/2016 & rated 91 points: Petrol and lime aromatics are penetrating

Nice spice on palate, fairly penetrating acidity with lime and steel bursting through (1147 views)
Tasted by jonanator on 3/2/2016 & rated 92 points: So much going on in this wine, just stunning stuff. The acid and precision in this wine is mesmerizing. (1172 views)
Tasted by jonanator on 2/2/2016 & rated 91 points: The nose showed a lot of interesting sappy, pine notes - almost like a fresh cut pine tree. On the palate, this showed depth with lots going on. It felt thick and voluptuous, tremendous mouthfeel, with plenty of acid balancing things out. So much minerality in this wine! There is a saline element that I just cant get enough of. There is no doubt this is a big wine that will command your attention with time. (1091 views)

#2014 Vintage Notes:
2014 Vintage Report by Terry Theise
2014 Vintage Report by Wine Spectator
"My gut still tells me the Saar (and to some extent) the Ruwer are better overall in 2014 than the more storied areas of the Mosel proper, but those that spent the requisite time living in their middle-Mosel vineyards made some of the most electric and "feathery" Riesling in a long time (maybe the finest in 20 years - yes, it's true!)" - Jon Rimmerman (Of course only a very short historical memory would call the Saar and Ruwer less 'storied' than the middle Mosel - jht)

Rheingau

On weinlagen.info

The small but fine wine-growing area Rheingau offers one for the culture of the vine ideal microclimate and best soil conditions. The Rhine runs uninterruptedly almost one thousand kilometres from Basel up to its muzzle into the North Sea, in a northerly direction. With a short exception - the Rheingau. The Rheingau mountains force the river to a change in direction here. The vineyards falling in this region to the south stretch really to the sun. The king of the white wines, the Riesling, finds ideal local conditions for the unfolding of his fine fruity and elegant type of vine character on the multilayered weathering grounds with loess, loam and sand additions.
