| Community Tasting Notes (average 91.8 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 8 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by rajmdprn on 12/13/2019: Did not age well. Upset that I didn’t open this years ago. (772 views) | | Tasted by Herb K on 8/7/2014: The 14 Appellations bottling is truly special... Aging beautifully. (1881 views) | | Tasted by Wineandsports on 2/11/2012 & rated 89 points: Opened and decanted for 45 minutes. Nose of blueberry and pomegranate. Took longer to open. Pomegranate and sour cherry flavors. Somewhat one note. Not the complexity hoped for. Hints of vanilla as well. (2764 views) | | Tasted by Richard Levine on 8/18/2011 & rated 92 points: Delicious after it opened for 1hr. Cassis dark fruit with nice finish. This will last at least another 4-5 years in the cellar. (2918 views) | | Tasted by 60secondfinish on 6/9/2009 & rated 93 points: Tasted at the winery -- without decanting the wine was in almost perfect balance from the beginning. Very refined with just the right amount of richness to make this a reserve. Beautiful nose of classic Napa Cab including: cherry, cassis, oak, white pepper and tobacco. This wine has enough structure and tannin to possibly age for another 10 years, but I just didn't get the impression it is a 20 year wine. The taste was wonderful with a medium fruit forward profile. This wine has presence and potential for a 95+ score from me in the future if it keeps developing. For $90 this is not an everyday drinking wine, but for special occasions you WILL not be disappointed. 6 bottles are now proudly mine. (3393 views) | | Tasted by TannicBeast on 5/17/2009 & rated 91 points: subtle. needs to open up good balance between fruit and oak and tannins (2577 views) | | Tasted by Winetex on 12/26/2005 & rated 92 points: This wine has all of the right stuff except weight. We really enjoyed it with some good steaks but it ultimately wasn't worth the ~$85 paid for it. (1936 views) | | Tasted by Winetex on 8/16/2004 & rated 94 points: I don't have too many notes on this wine other than "terrific" and the rating. This wine is from the 10 acres on the Reynolds Family Estate in the Stag's Leap District, Napa Valley. Very small production. (1702 views) |
| Reynolds Family Winery Producer websiteCabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonReserve The Wine News | Wine Country This Week | Wine Lover's PageUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Stags Leap District Stags Leap District |
