Tasted by Skylark 53 on 12/29/2022 & rated 89 points: Surprisingly nice, ruby color, no sign of brown rim. Dark fruits, blueberries, chocolate and hint of tobacco on the palate. Well balanced and actually a very pleasant surprise! (175 views)
Tasted by glou.sf on 3/1/2021 flawed bottle: Tasted blind. This was an off bottle. Little fruit and vegetal character. (646 views)
Tasted by Macsim on 11/6/2020 & rated 89 points: Peper ans spices, dark cherries typical for Syrah. Lacking a bit of acidity. Short-medium finish.
To drink now before it’s too late (476 views)
Tasted by helLTea on 11/27/2016 & rated 92 points: Couleur soutenue à peine évoluée. (1574 views)
Tasted by Vini Ciclismo on 7/19/2015 & rated 91 points: Deep dark colour with a red rim.
Rich ripe black fruits, floral fragrance, hint of violet, dark spice. Very nice.
Soft, supple, red and dark fruits, lovely licorice and tar spice, blueberry compote, well defined dried herbs. Tannins are strong but very fine. Delicious drinking. Probably at its best but could go another five. (1972 views)
Tasted by Vini Ciclismo on 7/28/2014 & rated 91 points: Deep red, ruby, youthful hue.
Rich red fruits, blueberry essence with fine pepper spice. Hints of dried earth and herbs. Refined, hints of violet, lovely.
Bright red berries, some cherry stone sourness/zest, supple med-wt middle with plentiful but fine tannins to finish. Long clean finish, has a subtle dark tar/inky edge to the mostly red berry fruits which dominate. Pleasing flavours but lacks a little intensity and closing resonance. (2322 views)
Tasted by Chomsky on 4/25/2014: Dark and clenched tight upon opening, after an hour+ in the decanter this begins to open up with a dark, meaty stench of curing pork, olive brine, blood. Nice silky texture with a strong tannic finish. What fruit there is to be found is very compact and striving to break through. This is an excellent Cornas in the making but is very young and needs a lot of time. (2373 views)
Tasted by rjhilgers@gmail.com on 9/7/2010 & rated 90 points: Kind of surprised by this one, which is fitting since it came in my mystery case from Garagiste. Still young and very tannic, but on the 2nd night smoothed out quite a bit and even got a "hey, honey, check this out - pretty good..." You'd be shocked by how seldom that happens in our household. On the nose, big, bold dark berry fruit and earth, covered in a thick blanker of sweet and smokey maple bacon. Very nice acidity on the palate, with blackberry and cherry fruit, with, like I said, a mouthful of grippy tannins. Very nice wine. (3968 views)
Tasted by 2muchwine on 12/4/2009: quite closed. Time and swirling gets some nose that is quite typique. This should be delicious. Later. not now. (3414 views)
Tasted by arijus on 8/27/2007: Return to terroir - Biodynamic tasting event (Oslo): Deep dark red color. Some aroma of leather and spices. It's too young and the tannins will probably soften with time. Not sure about this one. (3670 views)

Syrah

Varietal article (Wikipedia) | (Wines Northwest)

Note that some producers in the Northern Rhone distinguish between simply Syrah and "Serine", the latter described as ‘an ancient clone of Syrah, the berries of which are more oval-shaped and less deeply pigmented than Syrah’ by producer Tardieu-Laurent.

Northern Rhône

Guide to the wines and appellations of the Northern Rhone Valley -

The Rhône Valley/Le Vins de la Vallée du Rhône (Comité Interprofession des vins AOC Côtes et vallée du Rhône)

Regional History:
Phocaean Greeks established viticulture in the Rhone as far back as 600 BC, but until the 14th century the wines were not seen outside the region. The establishment of the Avignonese Papacy (1305-1377) brought fame to the region's wine-so much so that their Burgundian neighbors to the north banned wines from the Rhone in 1446, a measure that effectively cut off trade with England and other Northern European markets for over 200 years. Stretching southward from Lyon to just south of Avignon, the Rhone produces a wide variety of wines, with the appellations north of Valence producing the least (in volume), and the towns south of Montelimar producing prodigious amounts. As in other regions, the most interesting wines come from small farms. Saint-Joseph, in the northern Rhone, extends for some distance between Condrieu in the north to Saint-Peray in the south. The reds are made from Syrah and the rare whites from Marsanne and Roussanne, and Viognier.

### 2017 vintage ###
"The first red wines already tasted in the Northern Rhône promise a beautiful vintage, with a quality close to the 2015 or even the 2009 vintage" - NEWRHÔNE MILLESIMES
