I thought I had perhaps held this bottle just a bit too long, but really it drank fine. Still mouth-filling, with notes of honey, apricot and a bit of pear. A bit of toasty oak still on the finish. A lovely wine. (2116 views) | | Tasted by sonadora on 12/22/2008: On the nose I smelled orange creamsicle, oak, toast, vanilla, cream, pineapple, and ginger. The ginger struck me the most, it smelled as if someone had ground fresh ginger right into my wine. In the mouth I got flavors of apple, pear, spiced peach, pineapple, and lemon cream. Sorta like the filling in a lemon danish from a family bakery…not the stuff in Hostess pies. (2375 views) | | Tasted by tarheel17 on 9/2/2008 & rated 89 points: This is really nice. Upon opening, the oak aroma predominates, but it is not typical buttery oak - more of a crusty toast scent. Mouthfeel is smooth, medium weight, with some more buttered toast flavors and citrus. Nothing too flowery for me, not too stemmy (I hate that) nor too alcoholic as I find many viogniers. Finish is shorter than I would like, but really a great wine. Day 2: still holding up well, not a very discernible change from yesterday. Day 3: on the edge of losing its balance, becoming more alcoholic. I suggest drinking with 24 hrs or less air time. Low+ sweetness. Fruit lingers on finish. Very nice and complex. Sweet for me. $22.

This is nonsense.USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sierra FoothillsAmadorCalaveras County Calaveras Winegrape Alliance |
