Tasted by Dancing with bottles on 2/21/2021 & rated 93 points: A perfect bottle. Amazing power, with juicy dark fruit and complexity. Very long. (514 views)
Tasted by Tim Heaton on 6/3/2020: Fully mature. It was a great pleasure to drink this now, but I'll admit I wished I'd had it a few years ago when the fruit was a bit more youthful. Always a joy to drink these wines as they are a lovely representation of the land, but also the great man behind them. 14,0% abv. recommended+ (1163 views)
Tasted by Dancing with bottles on 12/10/2018 & rated 90 points: A good bottle, but with less structure and complexity than other bottles before. A bit more on the fruit (dark cherries) and easy drinking side. (1053 views)
Tasted by Dancing with bottles on 4/24/2018 & rated 92 points: Still great. Structured and starting to be medium bodied. Palate feeling like a very good BX. (1318 views)
Tasted by Dancing with bottles on 6/20/2017 & rated 92 points: Another very good bottle. Wow! (1490 views)
Tasted by Dancing with bottles on 7/28/2016 & rated 91 points: A very good bottle. No decline after two days and the bottle was half empty. Even deeper and almost re-closed on day three. Lots of sweetness and black cherries. A Little gem.
The bottle variation can be disturbing. (1821 views)
Tasted by bhouk on 6/20/2016: There seems to be a good amount of brett; on the positive side, there is some indian spice and red fruit, but the good leather and earth notes give way too easily to unpleasant dirtiness. Far more promising in its youth than it turned out. (1855 views)
Tasted by Dancing with bottles on 5/29/2016 & rated 90 points: Still deep in colour it starts to get Brown. The scent is lovely and complex. The flavour (2h after opening and some pouring in a big glass) is always changing during drinking over 90 min. Still fine but on decline. This is a weak bottle perhaps. Anyway: Drink up! (1598 views)
Tasted by spv on 12/20/2015 & rated 92 points: Third notes and largely consistent with prior 2 bottles. Complex and interesting wine that has consistently outperformed expectations. Great complexity although fruit is a bit darker and more muted; this is offset by a more pronounced mouthfeel and a longer finish. (1860 views)
Tasted by Dancing with bottles on 11/25/2015 & rated 91 points: Still deeply coloured and a nose like a fine C9dP. Tertiary flavours in balance with nice although subdued fruit. Good structure and length because of the fine acid and some left tannins. The texture (the mouthfeel, not the flavour or scent) reminds to a good Medoc in the 30-40 €-class. Probably my 6th or 8th bottle during the last 4 years. Always a pleasure, but the mid palate starts to be a bit weak now. Could age a little longer (until 2018) if you love tertiary character but will lose some power, so drink now. (1376 views)
Tasted by SimonK on 2/28/2015 & rated 91 points: Powerful and still full of youth (1430 views)
Tasted by kurishin on 2/1/2015 & rated 91 points: Still tannic, this wine is drinking well now. (1234 views)
Tasted by Spencer on 12/7/2014: Still amazingly youthful. Bright, wild, complex, lots of energy. In a great place right now, but no harm in holding for a few years. (1475 views)
Tasted by cweiss on 11/22/2014: Vecchia Roma with MGrp. Soft tannins. Fruit has calmed down but still a dark fruit-driven but well-balanced Rhonish wine (1168 views)
Tasted by isbjoern on 10/10/2014 & rated 89 points: Interesting nose of black olives and black truffles; similar on the palate with additional flavors of bloody meat, iron notes, some raspberries and plums, tobacco notes and a light barnyard note. Tannins are predominantly smooth now. I personally preferred the wine when it was younger and more "chewy". Excellent value for ~10 Euros. - 89 points (1327 views)
Tasted by bhouk on 6/20/2014: This is a hard wine to understand. Fairly acidic, also still has some unresolved tannin; fruity, but not overtly so; balanced out by some leather and spice, brett seems likely. This wine has not gone where I thought it would. An interesting wine that so far falls a little short of expectations on the sheer enjoyability scale.

Two days later addendum: this 10-year old Languedoc hasn't moved much in two days, but I will say that what movement there has been, it's in the right direction. All the flavor descriptors are the same, but it is less of an assault and more of a how do you do. If I can remember to check out my notes before I open another bottle, I will hold off on my last bottle for 10 years. If I had two, I'd open one in five to see how it is coming along, but I have my doubts that it will drink as well then as it will further down the road. I suppose that as with all wine, but especially with this one, the only reasonable thing to say is maybe, maybe not. (1288 views)
Tasted by isbjoern on 2/28/2014 flawed bottle: Again a bottle with a very funky rural note. Probably a cork issue. A moldy funghus note covers most fruit, beef and tobacco flavors. (1491 views)
Tasted by rebs1 on 2/17/2014 & rated 92 points: Drinking wonderfully right now. Smoky, beefy, with smooth tannins. (1421 views)
Tasted by Spencer on 1/27/2014: Ageing very well. (1458 views)
Tasted by bhouk on 11/9/2013: Still needs some time in the glass or decanter to show its best. Exotically spicy, with a strong cinnamon character. Good fruit, bloody minerality, with some drying tannin. Very interesting wine; needs meat to be at its best. Should hold just fine for at least 3-5 more years. (1703 views)
Tasted by isbjoern on 10/15/2013 & rated 90 points: Some bottle variation with this wine but this bottle was excellent and clean. A good cork and no oxidation problems. Sweet dark fruits and spices, complex and rich, quite a bit of tobacco and Darjeeling tea, meat flavors, tannins have softened, medium acidity, a bit of heat on the finish. Drink now. - 90 points (1284 views)
Tasted by isbjoern on 8/26/2013 & rated 89 points: Some oxidation and a bit hot on the finish, but still plenty of herbal spiciness and sweet fruits, soft tannins and a tiny bit of earthy (rural) funkiness. All recent bottles had some level of oxidation. I will probably drink my remaining bottles over the next year. - 89 points (1176 views)
Tasted by isbjoern on 5/4/2013 & rated 89 points: A spicy Languedoc red with sweet dark fruits, beef jerky, tobacco notes, good acidity and a warm finish with fine tannins. Again a moldy cork, but does not seem flawed this time. Good drinking now. - 89 points (1413 views)
Tasted by isbjoern on 4/11/2013 flawed bottle: Clearly an oxidized bottle with a smell of rotten eggs and Sauerkraut. Hope the remaining bottles show better. (1414 views)
Tasted by CWilliam on 3/13/2013 & rated 91 points: Relatively consistent with note from 7/2012 although after 30 minutes+ of airtime the tannins were tame enough to drink without food (although it was excellent with lamb). Very enjoyable, and unique wine. 91+ (1376 views)

(PANDORA Courbissac) Pandora Dear Friends, A few late catches of intrigue to end the day. Both of these compete with the best in the South of France (at a far lesser price than CdP) so take note. The Pandora is a riveting wine - it will befuddle and electrify the room at a tasting of the most knowledgeable enthusiasts. It's been almost impossible for me to source, but I've finally found a parcel at about the same price as in Europe. People will be wowed by this in many ways - it's not a freak-effect wine, rather it has a proud sense of itself combined with a exotic style that is very enticing. The Naick 5 has been equally difficult to source but it's a wine that goes without saying - If you like substance, style and gleeful exaggeration (that is still balanced - how, I'm not sure) then you would do well to imbibe with the Naick 5 - think exotic Boisrenard ... 2004 Domaine de Courbissac Minervois la Liviniere "Pandora" 2005 L'Oustal Blanc "Naick 5" Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA SOFR6380 SOFR6390
