Tasted by owr on 6/17/2015 & rated 84 points: at the time of its release, and still to this day, I think it one of the best Morning Fog Chardonnay's I have tried ... But that was then and this, is now. I was not surprised by its rich golden colour, nor by the nose of almond skin, praline, a little smoky, caramel apple - and over the course of about half an hour it developed a slight creamed corn note. The palate is very much a let down, although there was really good acidity still, there was also peach pit, buttered toffee, touch a almond/praline and before you smelled it you could taste those hints of creamed corn. It's definitely a wine that has seen better days ... The good news is the current release (2013) reminds me of the 2007 - so buy it now and drink much sooner. (1773 views)
Tasted by hi-pi on 12/20/2009 & rated 86 points: veel frisser en fruitiger als 2008, veel meer in evenwicht als 2008

Tasted by Zinlady on 9/29/2009 & rated 84 points: Found this wine at Newbury General store. Had with sauteed scallops and it was a good match. Fruity, medium bodied and easy to drink (3374 views)

Tasted by grdnbrrtt on 8/22/2009 & rated 88 points: With chicken, again very subtle but nice flavors, a bit smoky, with clean finish. (3412 views)
Tasted by cgrimes on 8/2/2009 & rated 84 points: Medium yellow color. Nose of ripe apples, butter, spice. Similar palate. Low acidity. Would not seek it out. (2234 views)
Tasted by grdnbrrtt on 6/5/2009 & rated 89 points: Enjoyed with grilled pork chop. This is classic Livermore Chardonnay from Wente, well balanced, subtle, buttery, fruity, with such light oak I mistook it for unoaked at first. Worth 3 times the price, a fine dinner wine for pork. I will buy more. (You will not find it that good with a cheese and cracker lunch, so don't bother.) Looking forward to another pork chop for dinner tonight though. (It was just as good on day two.)  Tasted by godx on 1/14/2009 & rated 84 points: Tasted blind – Opened and served right away. Medium straw at the core moving to a moderately thick water-white rim, clear throughout. Lighter developed nose of baked apple, dried peaches and coconut. Flavours of stale spice, vanilla, tropical fruits and nuts. Very different flavour profile, creamy. Medium body, medium acidity, short to medium finish. Not that enjoyable but soundly made. Drink now. Average. (1803 views)

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
