Tasted by SactoWino on 4/28/2013 & rated 75 points: Most likely way past drinking window, so tough to give a fair review. I rarely drink whites so these end up hiding for too long in the cellar. I'll just sum it up with the fact I took one sip and dumped the rest down the sink. (3440 views)
Tasted by Colia on 8/17/2010 & rated 85 points: This would make an excellent spritzer. Nuff said? Also, fair amount of sulfur on the nose. (5409 views)
Tasted by D.Callahan on 6/6/2010 & rated 86 points: Nice everyday riesling. Slightly off dry. (5505 views)
Tasted by TottenCellars on 2/21/2010 & rated 88 points: Very sweet even for a riesling, was enjoyed by everyone at dinner (5922 views)
Tasted by TashNYC on 12/28/2009 & rated 89 points: In DC with Jen, Sue, Rex & I and the roast pork tenderloin with sage, stuffing and apples.
This wine was distinguished as the only drinkable riesling sold by Safeway.
The wine was very good -- esp. for its $12 retail, very good QPR.
Lovely notes of pear, apple & honeysuckle. An excellent pairing with the roast pork tenderloin, stuffing and apples. (5904 views)
Tasted by RobertDwyer on 11/26/2009 & rated 90 points: I was a little concerned cracking this one out for a fancy holiday like Thanksgiving, but man- I really like this wine and it didn't disappoint. Might turn off people who are sensitive to residual sugar (but that's not me so 90 points it is). (4207 views)
Tasted by mdstenner on 9/29/2009 & rated 89 points: Very floral, with honeysuckle, pear and apple aromas. Beautifully smooth in the mouth, with orchard fruits, guava, kiwi fruit and poached apple flavors. This off-dry Riesling is superbly done. Bravo! (3104 views)
Tasted by drdebs on 9/24/2009 & rated 87 points: Faint pear aromas. Some spritz on the tongue. Very sauternes-like in flavors, with sweet honey, apple, and pear flavors. Excellent with very spicy fare or even dessert. (3130 views)
Tasted by WineontheBarrelhead on 9/9/2009 & rated 82 points: On the sweeter side, with full flavors of ripe pear and apple cobbler, with a dash of cardamom on the finish. The wine sports just enough acid to keep it fresh on the palate, but there's little flair here. Hard-pressed to recommend, except perhaps to fans of sweeter New World Rieslings. (3297 views)
Tasted by Weatherlows on 8/6/2009 & rated 86 points: Very sweet, without being syrupy. Great! (3414 views)
Tasted by hutch on 8/6/2009 & rated 84 points: Medium sweetness. Solid bottle of riesling, at least Cali riesling. (3243 views)
Tasted by ianinvirginia on 6/16/2009 & rated 89 points: Definitely a beautiful, fruity nose, lots of orchard flavors, fresh and good clean edges. The crispness didn't quite tame the sweet enough for my taste, but very nice and outstanding QPR. (3588 views)
Tasted by dwaynelm on 5/5/2009 & rated 88 points: Peaches, apricot, honey, with slight lemon acidity. (3393 views)
Tasted by RobertDwyer on 3/15/2009 & rated 93 points: Bought this one on a recommendation from a Drinking Buddy on Corkd, and boy did he give me a good tip! This wine was fabulous. Bursting with incredible aromas of ultra-ripe pears and golden delicious apples. The thing that made this so great was that it was so balanced. Not too sweet, yet full of flavor. It was crisp, so it didn't leave residual saliva in my mouth (that some Rieslings do as if they're apple juice). Great stuff- highly recommended. Must buy again. (3846 views)

2007 Firestone Vineyard Riesling

2007 Central Coast Riesling.
Crafted in the classic off-dry style, our 2007 Riesling begins with a vivid bouquet of honeysuckle,
Anjou pear, and honeydew melon are abundant on the nose. The flavors follow through on the promise of the aromatics...
a subtle sweetness is balanced by crisp acidity into a rich, lingering finish

Tasting Notes:
Our Riesling delivers on every front – fragrant, approachable and delicious. Striking notes of honeysuckle, Anjou pear and honeydew melon are abundant on the nose. The flavors follow through on the promise of the aromatics, with delicious, crisp dollops of melon, pear and tupelo honey on the palate.

Production Notes:
Machine havested during cool mornings. Cool fermentation temperatures in Stainless Steel to retain flavors. Cool storage conditions to preserve flavor until bottling.

Food Pairing:
Our 2007 Riesling is a versatile, food-friendly wine. Although this is an ideal sipping wine, it pairs very well with Vietnamese and Thai cuisine, crab cakes as well as a Rainbow Trout on the grill. It also makes a refreshing aperitif

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
