Tasted by lifeattable on 2/24/2013 & rated 87 points: Nice dark fruit, juicy, touch of earth. A bit sour on the finish. A no-brainer at $7. (1313 views)
Tasted by bconly on 1/18/2013 & rated 87 points: Smells more ripe than it tastes. Actually pretty nuanced, which surprised me. Bit of vanilla and chocolate, but ultimately too sour. A good change of pace, though, at $7 or $8. (1338 views)
Tasted by danstrings on 11/3/2009 & rated 90 points: Pasta with Sandy, a perfect match, fresh and bright, yet deep with good fruit. Lovely food wine. (2254 views)
Tasted by danstrings on 10/16/2009 & rated 90 points: Dinner at John's--showed really nice and lively, with expressive bright fruit and crushed mineral. Great food wine. More unctuous than a typical Dolcetto I think, more stuffing. (2196 views)
Tasted by danstrings on 9/8/2009 & rated 89 points: Tomatina pre class -- Good fresh and clean Dolcetto, always a winner. (2230 views)
Tasted by Aldimedia on 4/9/2009 & rated 88 points: Great wine at a fair price fruity, cassis and berries (1533 views)
Tasted by KeithAkers on 9/15/2008 & rated 85 points: Fall Bachanalia (Green Dolphin St, Chicago IL): nose: soft nose of cherries, earth tones, and slight bits of blueberries

taste: one dimensional with various cherry tones

overall: smooth and easy drinking, but very simple at the same time. A nice and solid wine that does what its supposed to, but not much else (2357 views)

Dolcetto

Varietal character (Appellation America)

Dolcetto, a northern Italian varietal from the Piedmont region, is a lighter bodied red. This wine is fruity and means 'little sweet one' in Italian. Some will opt to put a slight chill on it. Perfect with Mediterrean cuisine such as grilled meats and vegetables. Enjoy as a summertime delight. from (Woodward Canyon website)

Alba

Consorzio di Tutela Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe e Roero

Alba is a town and comune of Piedmont, Italy, in the province of Cuneo. It is considered the capital of the hilly area of Langhe, and is famous for the white truffle, peach and wine production. Piedmont is in the Northwestern region of Italy, bordering France and Switzerland. Piedmont is predominantly a plain where the water flows from the Swiss and French Alps to form the headwaters of the Po river. The major wine producing areas are in the southern portion of the region in the hills known as the "Langhe". Here the people speak a dialect that is 1/3 French and 2/3 Italian that portrays their historical roots. Their cuisine is one of the most creative and interesting in Italy. Nebbiolo is the King grape here, producing Barolo and Barbaresco. In addition, the Barbera and Dolcetto are the workhorse grapes that produce the largest quantity of wine. Piedmont is predominantly a red wine producing area. There are a few whites made in Piedmont, and the Moscato grape produces a large volume of sweet, semi-sweet and sparkling wines as well.
