Tasted by Colorado Native 3G on 11/4/2022 & rated 92 points: Appealing dark fruit nose and earth. The palate is dark fruit, a tinge of olive, cassis and cedar. A well structured wine with a silky smooth long and lingering finish. No signs of fading currently but plan on 1 1/2-2 hours of breathing in the glass before really enjoying it. (533 views)
Tasted by Wgecko on 3/22/2020 & rated 92 points: This wine was so incredibly smooth. long finish, pleasant nose. mild tannins deep dark fruit. plum.. absolutely wonderful (1092 views)
Tasted by Tudz Drkl on 3/17/2018 & rated 91 points: Excellent wine. Notes of leather and lotion predominate upon opening but a few minutes of air add forest and cedar over lush mixed berries. The palate is well balanced with soft fine grained tannins and acidity wrapping fresh and sweet berries that are accented with dusty and spicy notes. A pleasure. (2147 views)
Tasted by Kraman on 10/9/2016 & rated 88 points: good wine, a little surprised this wasn't as good as some of their other named vineyard cabs. I believe that they have bought more land to bottle estate version of this now. coffee, earthiness, tobacco finish (3090 views)
Tasted by jrhonda160 on 8/8/2016 & rated 89 points: Great bottle of wine. Rich Napa aroma's full of plum. Deep plum and charcoal flavors (3212 views)
Tasted by scott w on 1/15/2016 & rated 92 points: Excellent bottle, rich fruit nice acidity, could use just a hint more tannin. but overall excellent. (3518 views)
Tasted by d_chism on 12/31/2012 & rated 92 points: Loved it. Rich with fruit. Tannins were nice and smooth. Nice Rutherford dust in the finish. (4556 views)
Tasted by sterin on 10/5/2012 & rated 92 points: Took an hour or so to open up. Nice fruit and balance. Can sense the 4% Cab Franc. I'm not sure that waiting any longer on this one will improve the wine. (3819 views)
Tasted by EMTAME on 3/14/2012 & rated 90 points: Medium-bodied and a touch trim, in a food friendly kind of way. Red and black fruit, some spice, and a good finish. Could use some more delineation on the midpalate, but an enjoyable bottle nonetheless. (3335 views)
Tasted by taudelt on 3/4/2012 & rated 98 points: Very smooth and mellow. Excellent complexity with black and blue fruit shining through. Medium finish, leaving you wanting more. Outstanding, if a bit young still. This will drink very well for the next 10+ years. (2814 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 2/17/2011: Tight, soft yet chewy, cheap yet $75. (2523 views)
Tasted by mjsherwin68 on 2/2/2011 & rated 90 points: drank over a couple hours. I just thought it was lacking a little in the middle, the fruit was just not there for me. This is a smooth medium body wine with a dusty nose and finish. (3134 views)
Tasted by CobraKahn on 11/1/2010 & rated 92 points: Delicious; dusty, dark, concentrated, delicious. (3157 views)
Tasted by hutch on 9/13/2010 & rated 92 points: Delicous stuff. This is a beautiful Cab. 91-93 (2523 views)
Tasted by sterin on 11/30/2009 & rated 93 points: Needs an hour or two before drinking. Very good. (2928 views)
Tasted by sterin on 7/11/2009 & rated 93 points: Great bottle. Young but already drinking very well. I have 2 more than I will put away for 5 + years. (3011 views)
Tasted by JoelZ on 4/27/2009 & rated 95 points: I originally tabbed this a 94, but in a fit of irrational exuberance I'm going to kick it up. What a pleasant surprise this bottle was. The concentration was fantastic. Tons of smooth fruit with Rutherford-dusty tannins holding it all together. A friend shared a glass of '04 Sloan with me last year, and the first taste of the F-L immediately brought that to mind. Not cheap at 70 bucks a bottle, but it is easily bringing three-figure bang for the buck. (3124 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
