Tasted by amateur62 on 9/3/2023 & rated 92 points: Last bottle of 12, PnP. Thought it's time to empty it before it is over the hill, but wow, it did again a step up compared to the last one. On the nose blackberries and black currant, liquorice and underwood, on the palate fresh, good depth and a very long finish. Classic Riserva in a very nice spot now, quite mature but without any signs of declining, it shows still a lot of life and there is no hurry to empty the last bottles. (356 views)
Tasted by amoraes on 7/23/2023 & rated 85 points: Já pouco fragrante/ aromático mas boa boca (401 views)
Tasted by amateur62 on 6/3/2022 & rated 90 points: PnP, required just some minutes to open. Mature, classic Sangiovese, red fruited with tertiary notes, on the palate still with good freshness, medium+ bodied and long finish. In the style of the house with a rustic touch, in a good spot now, most probably it will not improve anymore, therefore drink it within the next 3 years to be on the save side. (762 views)
Tasted by StefanAkiko on 4/5/2021 & rated 87 points: Perfect cork, well stored.
Fantastic to drink the same wine we enjoyed in Firenze in 2012. A lot has happened with this wine since.

The baby fat is off as well as the pink filtered glasses. Not a very good showing from quality POV.

But as a dinner companion, this is a modern Chianti that drinks with pleasure and without any kind of problems. Delicious acidity beat all the food we put on the dinner table.

Should be good for a number of more years.

If you prefer fruitf**kers, you're already too late on this ball. (1478 views)
Tasted by dsimmons on 1/14/2021 & rated 90 points: Last bottle drunk with barbecue chicken. Very nice with mature cherry fruit flavors and nice acid balance. drink. (1645 views)
Tasted by Jake Barnes on 11/7/2020 & rated 85 points: (11/7/20) This bottle, although very youthful in appearance, was clearly on the slide toward oblivion. It had a muted nose of cherry and a thin cherry palate full of dusty tannins. There was only a hint of tertiary development. The acidity was fading, and the tannins were clearly starting to overtake the fruit; 13.5 abv. (**/14/85) (1399 views)
Tasted by Lyubomir Lefterov on 10/17/2019: Tuscan wines - dinner/tasting with fellow enthusiasts. (Maceda Restaurant - Varna): Lighter weight than Villa Antinori, good freshness but it somehow failed to impress, this time. Rather muted and never improved. No rating. (2213 views)
Tasted by Wine4Cam on 9/24/2019 & rated 84 points: Dark cherry mature spice, inky earthy notes on the nose. Medium body, Balanced spicy wood and mature cherry character on the palate and spicy finish. (1763 views)
Tasted by jonr on 7/25/2019 & rated 88 points: I thougth this bottle was gone many years ago.
But it came UP in cellar in a wrong place.
What a woderfull surprised, 12 years old. Very Mature, with age tones of ripe cherrys and with a cote of age barrels. Actually deeper mouthfulnes, smooth and woderfull ripen long ending.
I trynet to store Nipo longer now. (1368 views)
Tasted by amateur62 on 6/29/2019 & rated 92 points: PnP. Evolved very nicely since I had my last bottle two years ago. Classical Chianti Riserva near at its peak. On the nose moss and prune, warm. On the palate fresh, the tannin are quite smooth now, medium bodied and long finish. Very good with Saltimbocca and Risotto and at its own after. Drink now or during the next 6 to 8 years, superb price to quality relation. (1280 views)
Tasted by StefanAkiko on 2/25/2018 & rated 93 points: This is a superbly delicious Chianti with a great tannic structure, pristine acidic backbone and still rather young.

At 11 yrs old, this is still a rascal. Purity, precision and ... cherries. Complex, interesting and well balanced. Slightly short, with early signs of maturity and the smallest whiff of farm land.

From a deliciousness pov, this clocks in on my palate at 100 points. So delicious I could just keep gulping this juice.

Tasted by Chiantihound on 11/24/2017 & rated 91 points: Ruby, no signs of age. Beautiful nose of forest floor and mushrooms. Cherry and raspberry joins the nose on the palate. Resolved tannins, balanced. Medium + finish. Overall developing complexity and lots of interest. Super value. Just entering prime drinking. Wish I had a case. (2581 views)
Tasted by ctwjr on 8/1/2017 & rated 88 points: Mature, dark fruit, medium length finish the wine looks inky colored. Drink now. (2834 views)
Tasted by amateur62 on 3/3/2017 & rated 90 points: Quite tart after opening, needs some air. On the nose moss and prune, warm, on the palate fresh and dry with good structure and length. Very typical, classical Sangiovese that shows its beauty with its age. No hurry, it will last for another ten years and may even improve. Excellent wine for this price and for all that have enough patience. (4930 views)
Tasted by ctwjr on 12/26/2016 & rated 88 points: Surprisingly young compared to prior mature bottle, dark fruit, medium length finish the wine looks inky colored. (4020 views)
Tasted by ctwjr on 9/15/2016 & rated 89 points: Mature and ready to drink or within 2 years. Aroma of red fruit/dark cherries, leather, medium finish (4846 views)
Tasted by Scott Simos on 6/26/2016 & rated 92 points: Vintage chart says one more year but this is a solid 90+ wine at a great price point. (5284 views)
Tasted by johnbhamrick on 2/17/2016 & rated 90 points: A very decent bottle of wine for the money. (5945 views)
Tasted by Wine4Life on 1/15/2016 & rated 90 points: Best bottle yet. Wine keeps improving, drank all ours too soon. (3897 views)
Tasted by mike410 on 8/24/2015 & rated 90 points: Drinking well now. Nicely balanced. Good fruit and a hint of vanilla. Still has at least another 2-3 years. There is no rush to drink this. (4787 views)
Tasted by StefanAkiko on 7/19/2015 & rated 91 points: Deep, rich, layered and a REAL wine. Has matured and become an adult since our previous encounter in 2012. Still has several years of good service ahead.
Lovers of thin, acidic Chianti should go elsewhere.

Next btl in ~2018.
At Italian inspired organic Bisi-Basi in Yokohama. (4562 views)
Tasted by callmeacab22 on 7/11/2015 & rated 91 points: Opened during an Italian Cooking class with family members, along with a Zenato Valpoolicella. While both were good, everyone considered this wine far superior. Definitely a fuller-body wine that paired well with heartier dishes, with great lingering flavors. (3205 views)
Tasted by travelin.mikeyt on 6/17/2015 & rated 90 points: I'm thinking that most raters don't let this open up enough. On the second night it really showed well. Nose of currants and rubber with lots of sour cherries and medium tannins on the pallette. A great QPR! (2674 views)
Tasted by ChristopherB on 5/5/2015 & rated 88 points: Nice rubies colour with some bricking. On the palate, you can smell the evolution, but it is good evolution. Aromas of red fruit, in particular, sour cherries, but also “empyreumatique” aromas (typical of Chianti) of rubber, caramel and also brown sugar. There are also aromas of sweet Autumn leaves. On the palate, the wine has a good fruity attack as well as a good seam of acidity typical of Chianti. Good length for a wine of the caliber. I do think Nipozzanno is a good value and a quality Chianti. Unfortunately ate it with pizza when it deserved a good meat or meat pasta. 88 at this point.

88 (2705 views)

Sangiovese Blend

Sangiovese blend is used in CellarTracker for Italian wines to represent wines predominantly made of Sangiovese and blended with traditional Italian grapes. It is different than SuperTuscan which is a blend of Sangiovese with non-traditional (eg Bordeaux) varieties, often in closer to equal portions. For example, Chianti is at least 80% Sangiovese and will always be listed Sangiovese blend.
