Tasted by mp44 on 2/2/2023 & rated 91 points: solid - when you want to be reminded of the benefits of a wine with age, but don’t need to be ‘challenged’ - and a bit of life yet (522 views)
Tasted by Zweder on 8/6/2022 & rated 90 points: Dark berries and licorice in the bouquet as well as on the palate. Spiciness as well. The tannin still offers a pleasant bite. Really beautiful wine which is at its peak now and the next year or so. (1131 views)
Tasted by Veg on 4/17/2022: Unconvincing. Maybe it’s my post Covid taste but this was nothing like as lush as I was hoping. (976 views)

Tasted by VoteferPedro on 5/11/2018 & rated 91 points: drinking well right now
balance on the palate as tannins recede has not dimmed the fruit and still recognizable as ribera del duero (1857 views)
Tasted by WilD on 3/1/2018 & rated 90 points: P&P. Elegant and elegant RdD. Medium bodied. Red cherries, nice acidity. Leather notes. Not as good as the 2004 and 2005. (1842 views)
Tasted by WilD on 12/30/2016 & rated 90 points: Decanted and poured in Rioja Riedel. Rustic, A little thin on the palate. After some time the nose and taste developed. Earth, mushrooms. More developed then the 2004 (3061 views)
Tasted by Sir-Harrie on 8/6/2016 & rated 90 points: Mmmh, seit langer Zeit mal wieder den Villacreces.
(3540 views)
Tasted by VoteferPedro on 5/12/2016: deep color and fairly shy but correct nose
I double decanted and it was a well structured wine without enough fruit or savoriness to be great. in fact it was a bit soupy but after 2 + hours fruit returned with a burning intensity

this rallied well tonight.... needs more time (3515 views)
Tasted by hosscrow on 11/25/2015 & rated 91 points: Upfront, I am a huge fan of Ribera del duero and this wine is a very solid representative example. Deep Ruby red and moving away from the rim, this wine is drinking ideally right now. A powerful and complex nose of dark fruit, currant, plum with a deep note of earth and a touch of leather. Nothing spicy at this point in time. The joy is in the taste-Well balanced tart acid, softening tannins and a lingering finish of lush fruit and dust, again the earthiness sticks out. The wine opened up and gained complexity on day two. (3393 views)
Tasted by WilD on 9/23/2015 & rated 89 points: P&P. Rustic, strange smell and a little thin on the palate. After some time the nose and taste developed. Earth, mushrooms. More developed then the 2004. (3277 views)
Tasted by VoteferPedro on 7/3/2015: better than last showing and better with food. i was not impressed aromatically but the palate was cool dark fruit and plum with some mineral acidity on back that refreshed
very good
should last 3-5 years (2759 views)
Tasted by bugdoced on 4/5/2015 & rated 89 points: passover treat (2591 views)
Tasted by bugdoced on 1/2/2015 & rated 90 points: went well with new years eve turkey (3009 views)
Tasted by Dental Jay on 12/30/2014 & rated 91 points: Loved it, but higher rating would have been given with the exception of the finish. You hear about a wine's entry, middle and finish, and this wine was a roller coaster in that regard. The entry Southern Rhone, the middle was almost like California Cabernet and the finish was acidic and screaming for food. Would love to have more. (2564 views)
Tasted by bugdoced on 9/13/2014 & rated 90 points: wotn in a waiola ave spanish tasting
integrated nicely with some fruit on the nose and balanced tannins and earth (2738 views)

Tempranillo Blend

Tempranillo is the backbone of wines made ihvhhcn the best well-known Spanish regions Rioja and Ribera del Duero, but is also grown as far afield as Mexico and Australia.

As a flavor profile, red fruits like strawberries and cherries can predominate - but with a rustic edge. The Many wines made from Tempranillo will spend a few years in barrel and bottle before reaching the consumers . Many Tempranillo-based wines see a few years of oak - add that to a few years of bottle and the wine can give a subtle - and occasionaly not-so-subtle - leathery mouthfeel. The combination of the tart fruit and tannins make this wine very food friendly.

Spain

Vinos de España - Wines of Spain (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior) | Wikipedia
Wine Map on weinlagen-info

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net

Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.
