Even the lesser wines are unusually good. Pours well straight out of the bottle dark, lush, fruity, soothing, and refreshing, with a long finish that ends dry, and no sign of oxidation or decline from being 10 years old. (135 views) | | Tasted by phaft on 4/7/2017 & rated 88 points: I'm going to mark this one up a notch. I'd say even though it is a non-estate wine but from a stellar vintage, it's got a few more years and worth buying again from strong vintages. I remember drinking it early on and liking it then. Well, it's better now but 10 years is good. (4552 views) | | Tasted by phaft on 3/21/2017 & rated 88 points: A decent table wine from a great year. I think this one could last a few more years but why wait? It's drinking well now. (4576 views) | | Tasted by jonahfactor on 1/16/2016: Holding up reasonably well, surprising for such a humble CdR. Still a solid ruby through to the disk and nice luxurious legs. More on the bacon fat and meaty end of the spectrum with a lot of the fruit having dropped out. Pavement and anise in the finish and not much else. Past its prime. But still fun to drink. (7315 views) | | Tasted by Mossrose on 11/30/2015 & rated 91 points: Despite having noticeably more brick in its color than the young wine, this very moderately priced Cotes du Rhone nonetheless features bright aromas, lively acidity, ample delicious fruit, a smooth texture, and a finish that is long, juicy, and dry at the very end. Can still be enjoyed anytime during the next 3 years. (28 views) | | Tasted by sdahar on 8/2/2015 & rated 92 points: everything you would expect from a cotes du rhone at its peak (3989 views) | | Tasted by Mossrose on 10/16/2014 & rated 91 points: This lower end and relatively inexpensive wine of Delas shows how great the 2007 vintage was in the Rhone. When first opened, it showed some brick color around the edge and a slight tomato stew in the nose. But every day it remained open, it just got better. Now the taste is bright and energetic, with a fine acidity, a fresh red raspberry fruit, and the smooth but drying tannins that the good Syrah and Grenache feature in southern France. An excellent match with food. (29 views) | | Tasted by pkbowen on 9/19/2014 & rated 84 points: Seems past peak. Nose and palate both have some nuttiness and dried fruit, but seem muted. Grocery store purchase, so it had probably been stored at ~20C/70F for too long and aged through its drinking window. Still, some notes of dried cranberry and Christmas spice made their way through and made it seem rather pleasant. Tannins were also still nice; still present, but quite soft. Body is below-average. I wish I could have had this in its prime, it seems like it could have been great.
Overall, this is a "good" wine in its present state, 84/100. Drink it NOW if it is in your cellar, but I can't recommend buying any of this vintage from a store since it will probably be well past peak. (5221 views) | | Tasted by NoWineWiz on 7/29/2014 & rated 88 points: Enjoyable, but did not hold up over time. (2834 views) | | Tasted by tadams66 on 4/27/2014 & rated 90 points: Well integrated. Time to drink (3310 views) | | Tasted by djs on 3/17/2014: Drink up (3269 views) | | Tasted by MusicAndWines on 3/5/2014 & rated 91 points: This wine really aged well. A lot better then a few years ago. It is a classic CDR with all the best characteristics. Wish I had more. (2473 views) | | Tasted by Nico P. on 2/2/2014: 13.5. Rounded supple with a meaty, savory note. Plummy, sweet finish. (1505 views) | | Tasted by sonofabacchus on 12/13/2013 & rated 90 points: Surprised this was still drinking fine. Fruity, with considerable structure, and drying medium finish. Quite satisfying, with or without food. (2498 views) | | Tasted by ScottGoodwin on 10/26/2013: Over the hill. Nose is completely non-existent. Palate still has a bit of the blue and black fruit from before but definitely faded. Bottle threw off a lot of sediment. (2279 views) | | Tasted by spendergast on 8/17/2013 & rated 89 points: This wine continues to deliver nice fruit with sweet, soft tannins with nice finish. Paired well with baked honey ham. Not a home run, but a great QTP ratio. (2636 views) | | Tasted by nigelb on 5/11/2013 & rated 87 points: Still very youthful, purple tones. Soft sweet fruit on limited nose. Smooth. Sweet fruit. Very fresh with fine tannins. Lacks stuffing/character but very pleasant. Good length. (2910 views) | | Tasted by jonahfactor on 5/5/2013 & rated 88 points: Still drinking well, and taking on secondary characteristics. The bouquet is more elegant, the fruit is deeper and the finish lingers. Still crimson red and showing no signs of age. Yet it's doubtful this will get much better; so drink up. Tasted against the 2010 offering, which is also delicious and should be purchased by the case and put away for a few years. A consistently amazing QPR from this producer. (3115 views) | | Tasted by JuliannaD on 1/1/2013 & rated 89 points: Nice bottle and great QPR. Dark purple in the glass. Aromas of earth and blueberry. I tasted blueberry, black cherry, licorice and a hint of smoke. Full- bodied with a smooth finish. (3575 views) | | Tasted by Dieter01 on 11/23/2012 & rated 89 points: Deep, full bodied. (3838 views) | | Tasted by timewithwine on 11/18/2012: My last bottle and am not disappointed. With BBQ pizza - terrible. (145 views) | | Tasted by wineforrest on 10/13/2012 & rated 87 points: for 10 bucks was a bargin, still has a decent finish (3414 views) | | Tasted by timewithwine on 10/7/2012: Pulled for the ’Dega Race but it’s slightly corked. After another glass on Monday, I set it off ... DDB surprisingly doesn’t taste the TCA, so she’ll finish it off. (148 views) | | Tasted by grizzlymarmot on 10/6/2012 & rated 88 points: Purple color in the glass. Hearty dark fruit aroma with some earth tones. Flavor profile follows the aroma. Moderately full body with a smooth mouth feel. Balanced finish. (3118 views) | | Only displaying the 25 most recent notes - click to see all notes for this wine... |

U.S. Importer (Addt'l Info)
Since 1996, the firm of Delas Frères has fully retrieved the glory and spirit that made its fame. A highly motivated team is proud to help give a new lease of life to this great Rhône Valley wine merchant firm, founded in 1835. Under the guidance of its current management, numerous investments have been made at the winery at Saint-Jean-de-Muzols, near Tournon-sur-Rhône. A specially designed fermentation hall for the making of red wines, and a thorough rebuilding of the ageing cellar are amongst the key elements of the new quality charter from Delas Frères. This can be summed up in one sentence : place man and wine at the centre of the stage, together with terroir.Red Rhone Blend Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.
A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
