Tasted by ChrisR on 10/1/2020: A bit of a science experiment: I've been curious to know how these wines age, so I've been holding onto this bottle for a long time. Definitely showing its age. Light citrus and stone fruits, which faded with air, with quite a bit of spice. Not so much of the tropical fruits (mango, guava) as I normally get when Auberts are young. It seemed to take on more oak-derived characteristics with air. No longer rich or plush, it had a good body and mouthfeel, surprisingly firm. A very good wine at this age, but I like these with more exuberant fruit to offset the oak. (2264 views)
Tasted by csimm on 12/7/2019 & rated 94 points: Aubert: Olive oil, bruised lemon rind, toasted almond, ripe yellow citrus, light butterscotch, and a whisper of lamp oil on the back end. Still fairly fresh and concentrated, but definitely coming into a final drinking window before it starts to lose some traction. An interesting fleck of salinity elongates the tail and makes for a compelling finish, if not cut a bit short by some subtle bitter kerosene. There is indeed some complex and captivating flavors here, but it almost serves as more of a conversation piece at this juncture. I personally found it a worthy companion for a cold night sitting by the fireplace and nibbling on heavy cheeses kind of Chardonnay. Pop ‘em if you got ‘em. 94 points. (4249 views)
Tasted by Deadhead on 11/3/2019 & rated 94 points: No formal notes. However my wife and I were shocked how fantastic this bottle was. We had low expectations based on our last botttle. (2076 views)
Tasted by buckeye76 on 6/28/2019 & rated 95 points: Last tasted in 2010, the 2007 Lauren was still drinking beautifully though probably not the wine it was a few years ago. Nonetheless, this was a great match with smoked salmon on a bagel. Lots of citrus, melons, pears, figs, peaches, and hints of nuttiness. Nice acidity and complexity, a full bodied chardonnay with a long finish. I only had two bottles, but if I had another, I'd drink it tomorrow night. (2217 views)
Tasted by bigbottlebob on 3/24/2019 & rated 88 points: A little tired.
Had the 07 and 08 Lauren back to back.
08 was bright and a little sweet, but excellent!
07 was definitely tired and probably should have been opened two years ago.
Not too enjoyable (2185 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 9/28/2018 & rated 92 points: Drouhin Clos des Mouches Vertical Dinner (+) with the Drouhins (S.K.Y. Restaurant - Chicago IL): Small glass from another table, brief note. Great stone and tropical fruit with excellent concentration and length. New oak still seems to slightly protrude and dominate. (2134 views)
Tasted by WildeMeeuw on 3/14/2018 flawed bottle: CORKED! AAAAAAAARGH (1927 views)
Tasted by Phredd on 12/16/2017 & rated 93 points: Color is just starting to head toward orange. The nose is rich and rounded with age. Dried orange and apricots dominate, with toast and a kiss of oak. The palate is full, big, with lots of grilled lemon, some thyme, and some notable smokiness. There is also a distinct ruberiness, and the palate, while balanced, doesn't quite contain the 15.8% alocohol. The finish is really long and delicious, though. This is definitely high-quality wine, but it seems just a touch over-aged for a wine of ten years. I like it a lot, but it doesn't quite bring the wow factor I expect from Aubert. (1870 views)
Tasted by jasonh on 11/21/2017 & rated 78 points: Last time I had this was in 2012 where it had got into a bit of a groove. Still not for everyone but I enjoyed it. Now the nose has so much toffee, butterscotch, and chocolate. A little bit of pineapple creeping in. The palate is so rich and candied. Acid almost absent. I wonder how much RS is on this. Okay for a small glass if you can find the right pairing but not a wine for me. (1892 views)
Tasted by Kansas1955 on 6/26/2017 & rated 94 points: Just a wonderful wine. Smooth but full bodied flavor (2310 views)
Tasted by WildeMeeuw on 5/28/2017 & rated 87 points: Kleur: Middel goud geel Aroma / bouquet: Wow. Extreem uitgesproken Napa-Chardonnay. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Smaak / Afdronk: 14 + Algemeen / potentieel: 7 = 87/100

Google Translate:

Color: Medium gold yellow Aroma / bouquet: Wow. Extremely pronounced Napa-Chardonnay. Even for me ;-) a very generous amount of wood, vanilla and banana. Nutty. Taste / Drink: Limited acidity. Mouth-filling and thick-juicy. A touch of wood-tannins. Very curious. Pretty high alcoholic. General / Potential: Too much of the good. Enormous power, in itself a good fine balance, but little elegance and refinement. 50+ Color: 5+ Aroma / Bouquet: 11 + Taste / Drink: 14 + General / Potential: 7 = 87/100 (2273 views)
Tasted by Nanda on 2/5/2017 & rated 93 points: Out of magnum. I preferred this to an 07 Rivers Marie Theriot and 10 Aubert Lauren that were tasted in sequence. Nose is similar to the Rivers Marie with loads of ripe orchard fruit and spice (from fruit and barrel). The palate here is similarly concentrated but with much more acidity (and more toast). But all is in harmony and quite fresh/lively. Excellent. (2278 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 2/5/2017 & rated 92 points: Good Wine with an Exciting Super Bowl (Chez Kailin - Northbrook IL): From magnum. Alluring aromatic start with rich tropical fruit and lots of floral charm. Very rich throughout, slightly more enticing new. Nose vs Palate, where the richness seems almost sweet on finish. (3018 views)
Tasted by Labrador on 1/28/2017 & rated 94 points: This Aubert Lauren Vineyard chardonnay was stunning and perfectly matched with a beautifully simple but fantastic bouillabaisse (prepared by that lover of southern French cuisine, Chef Cullen Kent). The depth, purity and complexity of this wine were amazing. It had lovely nose but really expressed itself in the mouth - wow. And what a finish! Thankfully, I have a few bottles left. (1730 views)
Tasted by Mr T on 12/26/2016: Excellent mature chard with oak in place
Usually not my thing but I had more than my fair share (1363 views)
Tasted by Vitispulmonus on 11/26/2016 & rated 90 points: A little past it's time. Not as complex as in the past. (1349 views)
Tasted by DHutch on 8/5/2016 & rated 99 points: Sublime! Great bottle. (1809 views)
Tasted by Mr T on 5/11/2016: Opened for Mother's Day and really delivered. Not necessarily my style of wine, but this was on target with excellent fruit, richness and still a little cut......went very well with fish dinners and even hung in there with my rack of lamb. Doubt it gets better but very nice (1931 views)
Tasted by PortFanatic on 4/17/2016 & rated 95 points: Stunning!! (1859 views)
Tasted by Labrador on 1/8/2016: I love the Aubert wines, but for me this particular bottle was a bit off. Others at dinner enjoyed it. That said, I will wait and try another bottle before posting a rating. It was nice with the salmon. (1914 views)
Tasted by Deadhead on 12/5/2015: Beautiful deep yellow color. Wonderful nose of grapefruit, vanilla, pear, with a touch of citrus. However what I tasted was oily and bitter. It was terrible. (1846 views)
Tasted by Jeff Leve on 7/25/2015 & rated 92 points: Lush, rich and round, with a nose of honeysuckle, vanilla, citrus and butterscotch, the wine provided a fat blast of sweet, oak and citrus. My feeling is, the wine has reached matured far too quickly as it tasted and looked older than its true age. (3077 views)
Tasted by PortFanatic on 6/29/2015 & rated 96 points: Stunning. This is the best bottle of Lauren that I can recall. Certainly gives the 2004 Lauren a challenge. Most of the oak has been absorbed. Lively and complex. Rich, but not too much. Amazing stuff. My last bottle. (2112 views)
Tasted by Jeff Leve on 2/3/2015 & rated 93 points: Big, fat, rich, ripe, dense and still quite oaky. The fruit was sweet, ripe and in full force, but at this stage of the game, I was hoping the oak would have been a little more restrained. There was a touch of heat, not overbearing, but it was sensed in the 15.8 % finish. (3463 views)
Tasted by dcwino on 11/12/2014 & rated 93 points: Mike Grammer Comes to Town - KS version (Ripple Restaurant in DC): Sometimes the progression matters and in this case, this was totally out of whack. Dense oily tropical yellow fruits, pineapple, vanilla, toasted oak, sesame and mineral. As usual, excellent concentration, bright acidity, strong presence of mineral expression and long finish that ends with a hint of alcohol. Very good wine but may have showed better in a different context. (4236 views)

Chardonnay

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
