Tasted by boatman72 on 1/21/2024 & rated 90 points: Still great! No Notes, Just Enjoyed! (274 views)
Tasted by klezman on 12/16/2022: This bottle was from the final sale on Casemates and it was a tasty bottling. Not quite as interesting as some of the other bottles of this I've had over the years but as always it's nicely balanced and was enjoyable from start to finish. (1120 views)
Tasted by amp9211 on 12/13/2020 & rated 93 points: Very good dark fruit (raspberry) and molasses. Quite boozy. Very tasty. (974 views)
Tasted by costacasa on 7/14/2019 & rated 91 points: I feel like a genius for choosing this wine to enjoy while watching the sunset this evening. Usually a glass of wine will last until the sun disappears, but not tonight. Much more interesting port than some of the reviews suggest. Lot's of spice, no rough edges, no heat, no raisin-like taste. Hints of clove, cinnamon...something sweet like coconut...just a wonderful blend of spices. Very sad that I was pouring from a 375 ml bottle. Port disappeared before the sun did. No reason to hold onto to this wine. Drink up, now. (1190 views)
Tasted by klezman on 5/18/2019: Fantastic - baking spices, figs, perfect balance, nice complexity. Wish there was more of this to be had. (2205 views)
Tasted by merryberry on 9/10/2018 & rated 87 points: Rusty brick color. Raspberries, molasses, and pepper on the nose. Medium bodied, candied strawberries, a lot of heat, good acid, burnt honey, and a long finish. A little too hot for me. (1590 views)
Tasted by qwerty2 on 1/11/2018 & rated 88 points: Although the bottles are grouped together according to CT, this NV port from Wellington is a tall slender bottle, rather than the stubby ones that the White Port, and most of the Red Port, that I have are. It's very good, but not as stellar as the others. I opened it, and had a bit, just to make sure that it would be appropriate for gifting, and I'm happy to say that this is perfect for that.  Tasted by InFrom/HF on 12/25/2017 & rated 88 points: Sweet not cloying, not raisiny. Delicious. (1384 views)
Tasted by qwerty2 on 12/23/2017 & rated 90 points: I hope that this combination (the white and red non-vintage ports) is offered one last time on wine dot woot, so that I can accumulate a few more bottles of both. Pleasantly fragrant, not heavy in taste, and it caused me to go back for a second small glass, just to make sure. Just really delicious. (998 views)
Tasted by klezman on 8/5/2016: Delicious. Less nutty than a prior bottle, and full of baking spice and plum. (2826 views)
Tasted by TottenCellars on 6/14/2016: This was a surprise, I had only had peters vintage port to date and found this to be a nice change from it. Much lighter in color and body but also a bit boozier. Nice nutty character but not over the top. Highly recommended. (1732 views)
Tasted by buffyst on 3/17/2016: Easy 90-something. I would echo KLEZMAN's note from 08.29.14. Anyone who loves Port should enjoy this fortified wine from New Spain's Mission grape. (1960 views)
Tasted by klezman on 8/29/2014: Slightly nutty, oxidized red port. Very light red. Great acid, and nicely in balance with the sugar. Very nice overall. Kind of part way between a ruby and a tawny in style. (3007 views)
Tasted by Ahn on 2/24/2014 & rated 89 points: Nutty fun port (1665 views)

Mission

Varietal character (Appellation America)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

Mendocino County

Sonoma Valley

Sonoma County, California, is one of the most important winegrowing regions in the whole of the United States. Vines have been planted here since the 1850s and, apart from the inevitable hiatus brought about by Prohibition, the county's relationship with wine has been prolific and unbroken.

Viticulturally speaking, Sonoma County is divided into three distinct sections: Sonoma Valley, Northern Sonoma and Sonoma Coast. Each of these has its own AVA title and encompasses several sub-AVAs within its boundaries.
