Tasted by OttawaB on 5/3/2022 & rated 91 points: Nice mature wine, drinking well. Berry fruit, some dried berry fruit ... not sweet but not bitter. Maybe a bit stewed. Still chewy tannins but not overpowering. Medium minus acidity. (1115 views)
Tasted by Patrik H on 12/23/2020 & rated 89 points: Better and more complex than last time. (1948 views)
Tasted by Borrejac on 4/25/2020 & rated 92 points: Mature with red berries and earthy, spicy tones. Velvet tannins. A great full bodied wine, with still some good years ahead of it. (2310 views)
Tasted by olioli on 4/23/2020 & rated 88 points: Bcp moins boisé qu'en 2017.
(2346 views)
(2470 views)
Tasted by OttawaB on 5/20/2019 & rated 89 points: Drinking nicely …. spiciness, dark berry fruit, cassis, plush plums. The fruit is more on the bitter side. Nice tannins, not overpowering. Full bodied. A thickness to the mouthfeel. (1950 views)
Tasted by LenaLasse on 3/30/2019 & rated 88 points: Doftar fuktiga löv, källare. Mjuk men kraftfull smak av körsbär. (1281 views)
Tasted by Fat cat on 3/25/2019 & rated 89 points: Deep red, firm but nicely integrated tannins with a mouthful of spicy fruit. Still quite youthful and will last a few more years without a problem. (1059 views)
(1504 views)
Tasted by roboto on 3/29/2018 & rated 91 points: PnP. Solid. Concentrated red dark fruit. Lots of vibrant cassis with some muted character and still so damn tannic. Decanted. There is definately some signs of age but there is definately no rush here. Prunes, liqorice. blackberries and some oak nicely integrated at this point. Heavy mouth feel. Definately a meat wine. This is rich and massive and extreme in its value for money. my last bottle. damn. really impressed. (2198 views)
(1798 views)
(3117 views)
Tasted by Patrik H on 4/27/2017 & rated 87 points: On the nose: Vanilla, clove, oak
On the palate: Vanilla, high intensive tannins, blueberry. Lacks complexity
Medium + finish (2646 views)
Tasted by olioli on 1/13/2017 & rated 88 points: Foncé. Fruits noirs.
Tannins assagis.
Faible acidité.
Boisé dominant en rétro+finale.
Ouvert côte-à-côte du Bouscassé VV 2006. Avantage Bouscassé.
Dernière bouteille du Montus d'ici max 2020. (2497 views)
Tasted by keio on 4/21/2016 & rated 90 points: excellent a good evolution that show more wood not only tannin i will wait 3 years before opening an other bottle (3982 views)
Tasted by EirikM on 7/21/2015 & rated 88 points: Big wine with lots of structure and fruit, but approachable and, to my surprise, quite supple in the mouth. Less rustic than expected, but it remain a workhorse that shows best with a hearty meal. (4867 views)
Tasted by Fantasio on 1/7/2015 & rated 89 points: Un monstre! (4721 views)
Tasted by gbgpatrik on 10/17/2014 & rated 89 points: Mörkt, mycket distinka kaffetoner, björnbär och lite tuggmotstånd i munnen! (5405 views)
Tasted by iByron on 9/5/2014 & rated 84 points: Dark purple near black in color, surprisingly doesn't cling to the glass. Medium nose of dark fruit and some vanilla. New world feel in the mouth with smooth entry and big mouthfeel. Palate echoes the nose with surprisingly moderate tannins. Medium- finish. Definitely made for current consumption. Drink while you hold the Cuvée Prestige (or find a better "Tradition" blend). (5023 views)
Tasted by Vmaster007 on 5/3/2014 & rated 84 points: Enjoyable madiran. (4431 views)
Tasted by Kitura on 2/3/2014 & rated 89 points: Garnet with some very slight browning at the edge. Prune, blackberries, cigar box with some sweetness on the finish. Tannins are there, but not as strong as I would have expected. There's quality here, nothing is out of place. I had a 1996 bottle of this in 2011 and it was just brilliant. I don't drink enough of this kind of wine and should try to find more.. (4037 views)
Tasted by Vmaster007 on 1/25/2014 & rated 87 points: nice structure and good dark cherries taste. can be kept a few more years, but can be enjoyed now. (3298 views)
Tasted by Tannatastic on 1/14/2014 & rated 89 points: Still young looking, very deep dark colour. Quite grainy tannins, but with a nose that's promising a lot - plenty of oak and red fruits. I'd also echo the note below that picks up coffee and cocoa.

Clearly a wine built for ageing, so so far no surprises. Probably be checking in again within five years. Its fairly good to go now, but if you want the best from this I'd advise waiting a bit yet. (3107 views)
Tasted by leonardo_de_araujo on 11/3/2013 & rated 89 points: Very good wine.
It reminds me why Madiran is one of my favorite appellations. (3344 views)

Madiran

Vin de Madiran (l'ESAT de Madiran)

The Madiran appellation is where red wines were born to go with magret and confit de canard. Alain Brumont is a master of this deep, dark-fruited, powerfully grippy style, the tannins melding satisfyingly with the fat of the meat. HT:
