Tasted by cooker315 on 4/21/2019 & rated 93 points: Just fantastic. Drinking so well now. Have 2 more, will be interesting to see what happens over time. Want to give the next one a couple of more years if possible! The fruit is great, just a lot going on with berries at one point and some menthol leather notes at another. (975 views)
Tasted by AlphaL on 2/20/2018 & rated 94 points: This is the third bottle we tried since March 2013. I think it should be drank now since this bottle seemed to be at its peak. I probably should have decanted it. As before, it was excellent- dark violet in color and very fruit forward with plum and blackberry on the nose. It was as well balanced as the last one and mid palate it was silky with cherries, vanilla, a little chocolate and leather. It had a very long finish and was full bodied. (1238 views)
Tasted by Wine G on 9/7/2017 & rated 89 points: It's not a bad wine, just wasn't singing for me. Definitely past its peak. (1215 views)
Tasted by Wine G on 7/1/2017 & rated 90 points: I like this but was expecting a little more. Jammy but not in a bad way, velvety mouthfeel, full body dry lingering finish. Good but the fruit is a little muted or non descript. Good not great. (1273 views)
Tasted by 1961Vintage on 9/13/2014 & rated 93 points: Killer Cab!. Simply got better day 2, 3. Incredibly well integrated..Loved it...Thanks to our friends at VC for introducing. (1902 views)
Tasted by AlphaL on 6/22/2013 & rated 94 points: This is the second bottle we tried since March 2013. I did not fully double decant this like the first one. It was excellent- dark violet in color and very fruit forward with plum and blackberry on the nose. I slowly poured it back in the bottle to take to the restaurant with us. All in all, it was open about an hour before we started drinking it. Paired very well with Brick Chicken. It was as well balanced as the last one and mid palate it was silky with cherries, vanilla, a little chocolate and leather. It had a very long finish and seemed to be more full bodied. (1980 views)
Tasted by cooker315 on 4/20/2013 & rated 88 points: Popped and poured with dinner. Nice color, light bouquet, and a little hot of alcohol compared to other bottles. (1884 views)
Tasted by AlphaL on 3/16/2013 & rated 94 points: Jan & I just bought a half case and we had to try one. It was an excellent bottle. It was dark violet and plum and I wish I read the notes before hand. I double decanted it which it did not need. The nose was beautiful- very fruit forward. Dark cherry with plum and jam. Very well balanced and mid palate it was full of more plum, cherries, chocolate and a little vanilla. It had a very nice long finish. The only fault I could find was I like Cabs a little more full body. (1690 views)
Tasted by spisakc on 3/7/2013 & rated 94 points: Stellar wine. This super dark and plummy cab didn't even need to open up. I tasted as usual upon opening expecting to let it breathe for 30 minutes but it was so good, we all just started drinking immediately. A lot of fruit beyond plum to include at least blackberry jammy notes. Also had some wood, tobacco and vanilla in there. This was a great wine with lots of complexity and a lovely long finish. Wow! (1761 views)
Tasted by alr6767 on 8/24/2011 & rated 94 points: Just delicious! Nose fills the room, soft black fruit and tannin, great balance with ample acidity, long finish. Striking, very distinctive and memorable, nothing spoofed here, just great fruit and Cab wine making. So glad I have two bottles left. (2052 views)
Tasted by tonybona on 5/29/2011: Just pulled this from the cellar and didn't know what to expect. Poured immediately - blackberry and currant on the nose. Smooth mouthfeel, overall very good. (2057 views)
Tasted by cooker315 on 4/21/2011 & rated 95 points: This wine was outstanding. Beautiful dark purple and red color, dark fruit filled the glass upon opening with a some definite cedar and tobacco present. The tannins were balanced. The only thing keeping this back from extraordinary for me is a very slight grittiness on the finish, maybe specific to this bottle. (1717 views)
Tasted by alr6767 on 10/28/2010 & rated 92 points: Outstanding. The nose on this wine fills the room. Still a baby, with drying tannin, but loads of fruit and acidity. Can barely detect secondary elements. Will only improve with time. (1766 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 7/7/2010: A touch herbacious, silky, with some structure, doesn't show allot to me at $70. Intense with structure. But really, overpriced. (1814 views)
Tasted by cooker315 on 6/6/2010 & rated 92 points: WOW!! What a great wine. Great fruit, only thing keeping it from a higher rating is the heavy vanilla. (1717 views)
Tasted by jtabor on 4/26/2010 & rated 88 points: Too much oak immediately after opening. Day 3, lush red and black fruit, leather on the nose. A full bodied wine with tons of what I would call cigar box on the palate, with some woodiness and a decent acidic finish. The oak has receded to yield a much better wine on day 3. (2164 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
