Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 88.5 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 25 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Dr Otto on 2/2/2024 & rated 91 points: Surprisingly good. Quite nuanced, with prominent yeastiness, citrus, ripe yellow apple and lanolin. Nice creamy texture from the bubbles, a bit round. Better than a lot of entry level champagne. (163 views)
Tasted by Nyllet on 8/18/2023 & rated 89 points: One glas from a bottle opened the previous day. The wine showed apple peel and almond. Quite full bodied and really fresh. Great power. Should try more Brunet. (340 views)
Tasted by LingonTuvan on 8/21/2021 & rated 90 points: Nice, light, well balanced with small creamy bubbles (1059 views)
Tasted by adamanko on 7/20/2020 & rated 83 points: Fresh, dry. Yeast but not so much apples as expected. Can't decide what to think about this. Quite different from any other sparkling white I've tasted. Would I buy it again? No, this is not for me.

Edit: In a blind test I might mistake it for beer. (1678 views)
Tasted by Collector1855 on 2/11/2019 & rated 91 points: Champagne style sparkling wines, tasted blind: During a blind tasting dinner of some off the beaten track stuff. This was fun to drink. The nose had brioche and flowers not unlike a Champagne. Good freshness on the palate. A strong apple and stone fruit finish revealed that it was a non Champagne varietal sparkler. Chenin Blanc. Well made. (2429 views)
Tasted by rossi.wine on 5/15/2018 & rated 87 points: White stone fruit, apples, wet wool, bread on the nose. On the palate fresh and quite intense in terms of acidity, good fruit. A little linear and short towards the finish. 86-88 (2157 views)
Tasted by karl.1480 on 1/19/2018 & rated 88 points: Brief note from memory.

The nose showed the more savory side of Chenin with wet wool, modeling clay, crushed rock and yeast along with assorted apples, lemon rind and unripe stone fruit. Fermented bone dry and high acidity makes up for a bit austere mouthfeel. Lively, creamy mousse and very good intensity of flavors. Fresh, lingering finish.

A really good petnat with structure and intensity enough to pair with rich foods. Great QPR to. (2127 views)
Tasted by Capt Cutlass on 8/26/2017 & rated 90 points: I agree with the earlier enthusiastic tasters on this one. Incredible value for money and pure delight to drink. So far my favorite Loire sparkler. (1787 views)
Tasted by johan4711 on 12/18/2016 & rated 90 points: Super! If you forget it in the fridge, which seems very unlikely, You can swirl away the bubbles in this and have a great still wine. (1751 views)
Tasted by LFCHALA on 11/26/2014 & rated 93 points: Amazing. Revelation of the Year in the field of bubbly. Aromas profile: wet, white fruit and honey tones. Excellent acidity. Polyvalent. Combined well with salmon, cod, cheese and salami. Does not have the elegance of Dom Perignon 2002 (drink the same night). On the other hand has more personality. (2241 views)
Tasted by D.Callahan on 10/7/2014 & rated 83 points: Very dry without much interest. Some apple notes but more vegetative and rather unpleasant to taste. (1862 views)
Tasted by nubbin on 2/17/2014 & rated 88 points: Appearance: Clear, pale lemon-green, bubbles.
Nose: Clean, medium and fully developed floral, orchard fruit.
Palate: Off dry, moderate acidity, low alcohol, medium- bodied, Lt flowers, pears, apples.
Quality: Very good. Ready to drink. (2070 views)
Tasted by french16 on 1/2/2014: Some RS mixed with green, asparagus notes. Very boring to me and could not finish my glass. (1780 views)
Tasted by Socrates on 12/20/2013: Crisp Nose of honey and oats.

Delicious Palate of apples with highlights of lemon and peaches on the finish. Light peppery note on the mid palate. Tart and dry.

Lightly sparkly and full and round. Gets better with air and time. (1519 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 9/7/2013: Not much in the way of frothiness. Medium weight, quite yeasty, dry and apply. (1090 views)
Tasted by Blauweiss on 8/29/2013 & rated 86 points: Great, really dry wine, good acidity to bring length. (864 views)
Tasted by fCOT on 2/21/2010 & rated 90 points: consistent with previous notes.solid sparkling (1900 views)
Tasted by fCOT on 12/12/2009 & rated 89 points: funky, rich and pure flavors of baked apples .really great with apple pie. (1871 views)
Tasted by brooklynguy on 7/15/2009 & rated 89 points: Really a lovely sparkling vouvray - great fruit and mild woolly funk, and very clean. The only issue for me is that the wine seemed a bit sweeter than necessary, perhaps the dosage could be lowered. Not out of philosophical reasons, purely out of balance. But you never know - sometimes really low dosed wines seem sweet. In any case, this wine is sweeter than I'd like. But that's really the only quibble. (1890 views)
