Tasted by WilliamF17 on 3/20/2020 & rated 90 points: Still youthful and fruity, balanced and smooth. Drink now but not beyond maturity. (1622 views)
Tasted by Radzimir on 9/2/2019 & rated 88 points: Fine. Acid is still high and middle palate is undeveloped. Going to wait 3-5 more years. It will never be amazing but it is a great aging wine. (1886 views)
Tasted by Reblin on 1/5/2019 & rated 92 points: Really delicious. Smooth, elegant fruit, with notes of cherry, plum, cassis. Well-balanced and with a medium finish. No excess heat. I wish I had more. (1522 views)
Tasted by PMJak11 on 11/22/2018 & rated 93 points: Pleasantly surprised, probably attributable to the age and the fact it was a magnum. Silky smooth with nice cherry fruit. Not overly deep or refined, but also didn’t have any OH bite, which I was expecting. Happy Thanksgiving!! (1070 views)
Tasted by WinoTim on 8/11/2018 & rated 88 points: Cellared a bit too long. (1186 views)
Tasted by henrygjeffreys on 4/30/2018: deep red colour with a little fading at the rim
Spicy nose, blackcurrants, floral, herby, quite firm furry tannins, sturdy wine, ripe, leather and just starting to take on some tobacco, long
Bigger style than more recent vintages, I'd keep this (1622 views)
Tasted by jww on 4/17/2017 & rated 90 points: came in the mail I had one in the cellar I forgot about so I thought i was drinking a one off from the mailing list.
what a great surprise excellent wine strong nose- fruity with complexity
great taste berries, chocolate Cassis
nice finsih
looking forward to that bottle hidden in my cellar (1784 views)
Tasted by wineshaman on 6/11/2016 & rated 89 points: Nearly 3 years since last tasted, reasonably impressed. Plenty of currants, cassis, tart plum, still some tannins to intergrate but the fruit is starting to dry up. I would drink them soon while the fruit is still part of the complexity! (2378 views)
Tasted by Tarpon222 on 3/6/2016 & rated 90 points: Drank over 2 nights. Very good! (2563 views)
Tasted by Wmanion on 11/20/2015: Trefethen is always a favorite (1400 views)
Tasted by bzukaitis on 5/28/2015 & rated 90 points: Outstanding well aged oak knoll cab. (3056 views)
Tasted by vsbastosx on 3/13/2015 & rated 90 points: Consistent with previous notes...full bodied, with prominent oak and ripe prunes. Really good. 90+ (1563 views)
Tasted by ViperWino on 6/20/2014 & rated 91 points: Drank with Filet. Perfect match. Just a solid cab. very drinkable after 30 min to open up. (3791 views)
Tasted by Sheldog on 4/11/2014 & rated 90 points: Inky dark garnet in color with wonderful slow legs. Black cherry and leather on the nose. It took about two hours after decanting for the wine to open up enough to really get the full appreciation of it. Once there this is just a great cab with the burst of black cherry, with leather, licorice and a hint of forest floor. My biggest knock (hit to the rating) is that even after a couple hours it is still hot on the finish. A couple more years in the cellar or perhaps some more lead time decanting.

By the way, after dinner save a little in your glass and fetch a piece of dark chocolate. OH YES!!!!! (3099 views)
Tasted by vsbastosx on 2/22/2014 & rated 90 points: Decanted for 1,5 hour.
Gorgeous on the nose with liquorice, cherry liquor and mild oak. On the palate, this is full bodied, ripe, balanced with really nice tannins. It's not particularly complex, but easy drinking and tasty. It paired very well with lamb. Very good! 90+ (1924 views)
Tasted by kbhiggins on 12/7/2013 & rated 90 points: Everything you want in a nice cab. Beautiful nose, well balanced, great finish. These should still last a while but drinking really nicely right now. Sat 30 minutes in the glass before trying. (2745 views)
Tasted by APatHB on 10/18/2013 & rated 90 points: very good Cab...just not my favorite from this winery. That being said, the winery is pricey. Be choosy. (3404 views)
Tasted by wineshaman on 9/14/2013 & rated 88 points: PNP, followed an excellent Virginia Cab. This was a bit underwhelming, but still a solid effort, with currants, cassis, chocolate, good concentration, though this bottle was a bit out of balanced. (2501 views)
Tasted by 82Latour on 7/29/2013 & rated 91 points: Via 375 - popped and poured. Wow. This wine is starting to drink really well from this format -- 750s probably another year plus. Inky, Blackberries, Currants, Cherries, floral nose, med finish. (2027 views)
Tasted by V.O.Key on 6/18/2013 & rated 91 points: Popped the cork and let the bottle breathe for about 2.5 hours. Delicious at that point, with medium full body and the deep black fruit flavors that Trefethen cabs almost always seem to feature. Add to that some smoke or wood spices, and maybe a bit of black pepper at the end. Nice long finish. Very drinkable now but perhaps even more so as the tannins continue to mellow. (2033 views)
Tasted by shotrock1999 on 3/22/2013 & rated 88 points: A nice nose, but shallow. Not a lot of complexity or tannins. A good wine, but not great. (2127 views)
Tasted by 82Latour on 11/21/2012 & rated 89 points: Via 375 - popped and poured. Inky and tannic - could stand a decant, especially from the bigger sizes. Blackberries and currants, med finish. 89+ (2450 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
