Tasted by Brian of Mull on 10/13/2020 & rated 91 points: Opened for 1 hour. Color still deep ruby but getting some orange on the rim. On the nose: Pepper, cassis, strawberry , vanilla and some funk at the end. On the palate :Very nice Strawberry and mixed berries and some nice vanilla. Quite smooth and elegant. The finish is very long. I get strawberry and soft vanilla long after I’ve swallowed. Tastes fresh for it’s age IMO. I think this is drinking very well. (1290 views)
Tasted by beerenauslese on 9/8/2019: Still a bit tannic but possessing good acidity (1409 views)
Tasted by hrazdiiv on 6/4/2017 & rated 89 points: A fairly well made wine that will displays typical notes of Grenache without much support from the other varietals present (Petite Sirah, Zinfandel). Displays a predictably medium garnet color and on the approach delivers some nice notes of blackberries, blueberries and perhaps a touch of cedar - almost reminiscent of a modernist Barolo. The wine really just slightly past peak however; it is not bad, just not going to develop any further. Tannins were very smooth, allowing for fruit to really jump to the forefront but in a fairly muted way. Decanted, the wine stood up for a good hour so no need to rush and drink every last bottle, but I think it's in the 7th inning at least. Just a touch more backbone and this bottle would've rated 90+ and improved it's aging trajectory. (2140 views)
Tasted by camben on 2/3/2016: Right out of the bottle with tropical Grenache notes. Trademark ridge barrel has smoothed out quite a bit. Remembering the gren /Syrah 04 drank a few years ago was tough, this smooth. Interesting with almost a quarter of the blend coming from petite sirah and zin. The zin definitely pops on the finish with strawberry preserve. Raspberry and black fruit spread. Softly tannic at this stage. Ready to go!

Tasted by fredb on 1/17/2016: Dark red color. Nose of red fruits, plum, a bit of smoke. Palate is initially tannic with cherry, raspberry, earth, and iron. Finish is medium-long. On day two, the tannins integrate and this drinks much better. Decant or hold. (2818 views)
Tasted by kosinski on 10/2/2015: Aroma: musky blackberries and roasted meat with hints of tobacco.
Palate: Rich and plush with red cherries, plums and currants. Mature tannins and moderate acidity. Some notes of garrigue, wood spice, lavender and leather. Complex and very enjoyable. Drink now. (2440 views)
Tasted by CT2012 on 8/4/2014 & rated 88 points: Very nice wine - decant for at least two hours (3086 views)
Tasted by moxielady on 3/18/2014 & rated 90 points: A food wine w fair bit if acid but solid tannic structure on finish w tobacco notes. (2743 views)
Tasted by rcurlee on 8/13/2012 & rated 88 points: Tasted fantastic after aeration. I take that to indicate it has plenty of time left in it. (3602 views)
Tasted by VinoPKM on 7/1/2012 & rated 89 points: Upon opening with wine was a jumble mess with an off putting finish- tart. But after some air this wine showed a lot better. Was happy with this one and need to rejoin the Ridge ATP. I like the PS in this wine. (3426 views)
Tasted by Tim Heaton on 6/9/2012: Tasted at OC4PokerXIII over a 3 hour period. Best served at cellar temp (and kept there), this was one my favs of the tasting. I think tplskylrk's note is spot on. Bravo! (3362 views)
Tasted by wagging_tail on 2/19/2012 & rated 83 points: Drink now. Needed 1-2 hrs to open. Good but on the down slope as the finish was a bit briar like - and the mid-point of the taste while softer had lost character. The label recommended 1-5 yrs from '06 bottling (yes -it's the 04! Bottled in '06) so I'm a bit too blame here in '12. (2990 views)
Tasted by casjf on 1/5/2012 & rated 85 points: - Crimsom color. It's unbalanced with a medium/full body. Linear texture with a medium finish. (2884 views)
Tasted by rcurlee on 1/1/2012: Lots of plum and prune. It may have been corked. It wasn't unpleasant, but it wasn't anything like the other reviews. (2073 views)
Tasted by kosinski on 11/21/2011: Still quite tannic. Hopefully the fruit will outlive the tannins. (2389 views)
Tasted by tanda on 9/7/2011 & rated 93 points: Dark fruit nose, also fruit forward with a bit of a peppery finish. Overall a pretty complex wine that was great with food. I wish I had 10 more bottles as opposed to the one I have left. (2536 views)
Tasted by bjschmitt on 8/28/2011 & rated 91 points: With Linguine and Italian Sausage in home made tomato sauce.
Beautiful and bright burgunder, no longer opagque, but still alive.
Great nose, blackberry/cherry and peppter.
Dry, smooth, nicely integrated, bright fruit, some spice but an almost sweet pepper (if that makes any sense).
Great length, nice medium-full body.
Still holding since last taste a year ago. (2412 views)
Tasted by coremill on 2/26/2011 & rated 91 points: Grenache Tasting at Dan's (Chez Dan): Dark purple color. Nose is a bit reserved, with cassis and some nice herbal notes. On the palate, flavors of cassis and black cherry, with lovely purity to the fruit flavors. Still very tannic, with velvety mouthcoating tannin. Nice finish. This was not as intense or concentrated as the 05 Janasse VV served immediately before it, but it had a poise and elegance the Janasse lacked. Would love to try this in 10 years. (3505 views)
Tasted by tplskylrk on 12/21/2010 & rated 90 points: P&P. Same color as before. Got some Scotch Whiskey peaty thing going on. The PS is really there on the finish. Tight, black PS scrape the palate. Nice lingering finish. Goos stuff, could use more time. Day II. Nose is more cherry, but not all that together. The palate is nice and rich, the ps still dominates the wines parts, big long tart red fruit finish, Grenache and the ps comes in and rears is head, but much closer together and you can see this may be a really nice wine in 2 more years. Yummy stuff. (3235 views)
Tasted by marksfamily on 12/10/2010 & rated 83 points: Lovely blueberry fruit with nice dry graphite. A little vanilla and cassis, perhaps. Scent is heady and deep in cherry, blackberry. Balanced and lovely. (3249 views)
Tasted by jrlamia on 11/13/2010 & rated 89 points: Cocoa notes, tart cherry, medium tannins. (3406 views)
Tasted by jrlamia on 11/12/2010 & rated 89 points: Cocoa notes, tart cherry, medium tannins. (3411 views)
Tasted by tplskylrk on 10/11/2010 & rated 89 points: Landed in Mumbai, opened the suitcase, ordered a balanced Indian meal. Murg, Raita, Naan, Black dal, Indian green Chiles . . . popped & poured. Not too dark ruby. Earthy, Grenache & PS dominate. Love the PS. Earthy, woody in a good way, dried fruit, a bit of CDP going on in a Draper way. Nice light feel in the mouth, a little drying, but with substantial dried cherry fruit, charred oak, dried sprigs of lavender. Just a bit too much PS in this, the tannins are still a bit unripe, the fruit may not last. Great with the heavy cream of the raita and ghee in the dahl, but on it's own it needs time. Maybe overnite this puppy will open up. Still way young, and hope eternal the fruit hangs on. This either goes to 92 in a 5 years or falls into an acid alcoholic oak y drying mess. (3555 views)
Tasted by bjschmitt on 10/2/2010 & rated 91 points: With Coq au Vin.
Bright ruby, no longer opaque but still lively.
Nice nose, good fruit with blended sweet spices.
The wine is totally integrated now, smooth, rich, cherry/berry, a touch of fruit sweetness, nicely polished.
Good finish.
If I pick a movie star to compare to - this one is Kate Hepburn: classy, a bit more subtle than appears as first blush.
Very nice wine. (3512 views)
Tasted by Primetimewine on 9/13/2010 & rated 88 points: Plenty of life still in it. Lots of dark fruits and earthy notes but finishes with a bit of heat. Would consider decanting next time. (3764 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
