Tasted by EdKz@comcast.net on 6/27/2023 & rated 90 points: sleepy dark fruits, medium finish, opened up over 3 hours but fruit was hidden and finish was muddled, disappointing; hold (414 views)
Tasted by americanstorm on 4/9/2023 & rated 92 points: Out of a mag with a 3 hour decant. This was the wotn for several in our group but for me it just seemed a little off, like maybe it was a little past its prime. Very earthy and minerally with some pepper, spice and dark fruits. Good mouthfeel and long finish. Out of 16 people no one guessed that this was a California cab. (527 views)
Tasted by Spar on 8/13/2022 & rated 94 points: Was very good on the first night, but pretty amazing on the second. Opened up significantly and showed such depth and complexity we were really surprised. I recommend decanting a few hours before enjoying. Glad we have more! (818 views)
 Tasted by MattB72 on 3/19/2022 & rated 95 points: Just fantastic ! (1021 views)
Tasted by alexlb06 on 11/6/2021 & rated 95 points: Really delicious and balanced. Bordeaux style. Some forest floor and wet leaves. Long finish. Enjoyed at Charter Oak Resto in St Helena (1195 views)
Tasted by pinotpounder on 3/7/2021 & rated 94 points: 94+ points (1277 views)
Tasted by MattB72 on 8/18/2018 & rated 93 points: Very good mountain fruit, but this is still a baby. This is my 3rd time trying and think it still need 5+ more years (2196 views)
Tasted by csklsc on 3/31/2018 & rated 91 points: As many others have noted, still wound very tight. Definitely a mountain cab which could use more time. Last bottle regrettably but could easily use another 3-5 years if not more. (2079 views)
Tasted by Mark Brandon on 3/12/2018 & rated 92 points: Needs time... much potential, but still tight and wound up. Some '07s are really singing, but the ones built for the long haul are stubborn. Maybe next one in 5+ years. (1922 views)
Tasted by MattB72 on 2/11/2018 & rated 93 points: Barely coming into its drinking window. This one Needs a lot more time (1804 views)
Tasted by ppaluszewski on 3/4/2017 & rated 93 points: Drinking very well now but will hold up for several more if you like more mature Cab. Very balanced and well integrated with fruit, earth and cedar notes, supple tannins and balanced acidity. 93+ pts. PJP 2017. (2821 views)
Tasted by Sijan on 3/21/2016 & rated 92 points: Really lovely cab - classic Napa cab w/ good acidity, fruit, structure & smooth tannins. Drank after a brief double decanting. This will drink well for many more years. (3221 views)
Tasted by ageverett on 1/9/2016 & rated 94 points: Stood this up for an hour, then popped and let it breathed for about 90 minutes. This was singing right off the bat. Dark red fruit profile, and a little blue fruit. Definitely mountain fruit. There is a faint hint of mint somewhere in the back of the palate, which was lovely. Medium plus finish with fully integrated tannins.

This was in a great spot for my tastes. I'm sure it will do just fine in the cellar for a while, but if I had more bottles I would pop in the next 3-4 years. (3765 views)
Tasted by MattB72 on 4/26/2015 & rated 93 points: great length. Decanted and drank over 4 hrs. Prob could have use some more time. But very good now. (3672 views)
Tasted by jperez68 on 2/5/2015 & rated 93 points: Beautifully AGED CAB, CASSIS,BLACKBERRIES,SOFT TANNINS WITH A SOFT FINNISH. (4015 views)
Tasted by BUBBA DAWG on 11/25/2014 & rated 92 points: coming into the zone...ideally suited for thanksgiving week now or in 10 years...can't go wrong as this is a real crowd pleaser from the humble neophyte to lockjaw larry (3335 views)
Tasted by diane.forgy@dianeforgy.com on 10/28/2014: Gorgeous, smooth, drinking perfectly. A couple years ago had the pleasure of sharing a magnum of 84 Keenan Reserve and it was special. This wine delivers now and years down the road. (2545 views)
Tasted by BordeauxBoy on 10/12/2014 & rated 95 points: Excellent bottle of wine that is now entering it's drinking zone. Great mountain fruit with a lot of other complexity going on. Long finish too. Drank without food. Will go another 10 years with good cellaring but I won't wait that long for my other bottle. (2373 views)
Tasted by The OKC Kid on 8/2/2014 & rated 93 points: Very tight. I decanted for 2 1/2 hours, really started to open up! At first I was like what the hell then I was patient. You definitely need to decant for at least 2 1/2 hours. I bought 4 bottles. I'm a big fan of Keenan. 2007 Great vintage!! This wine will peak in 5 years. I would let this one sit in your cellar for a bit. Cheers Michael Keenan! 93 Points. The OKC Kid (2182 views)
Tasted by TwoSmoochies on 2/28/2014 & rated 90 points: Still very tight with a lot of wood (2340 views)
Tasted by mdfuller on 12/15/2013 & rated 91 points: this needs a bit more bottle time imho. it is still wound pretty tight and while you may be unwind it with several hours of decanting, i seldom am so patient ... i'll pause for another 12 months or so before next one (2439 views)
Tasted by shank on 12/11/2013 & rated 92 points: Earthiness and pencil shavings with a long finish. (2440 views)
Tasted by BUBBA DAWG on 9/20/2013 & rated 93 points: decant 60 mins...deep violet hue...vibrant black fruits with equal punch of wet earth and pencil shavings on the nose...decadent and luscious fruit with spicy toasted oak, black licorice and faint medicinal notes on the palate which is balanced nicely with crisp acidity and chewy tannins...this is still tight but yet so energetic...really yummy and big but not a fruit bomb...one of Michael's finest 100% cabs, which is likely to age well for 20 years...another great SM effort...a bit pricey but worth it (2624 views)
Tasted by johnbhamrick on 7/14/2013 & rated 94 points: Great tasting wine!!! Fully developed with no after bite. I would recommend this to anyone. (2719 views)
Tasted by bundan on 7/13/2013 & rated 91 points: Typical Midrange Napa Cab. Good Fruit, but not a bomb. (2291 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
