Tasted by TastesGoodToMe on 11/21/2018 & rated 92 points: Delicious. For a 2008, this chardonnay is holding up just fine. Still a few years to go easily. (1614 views)
Tasted by BcDuncan on 11/8/2017 & rated 92 points: Loved this wine, still great, some oak, but does not overpower; lovely (1335 views)
Tasted by BcDuncan on 10/28/2017 & rated 91 points: I probably left this in the cellar a bit long, but it did not punish, it was excellent, especially after 30 minutes (1306 views)
Tasted by Beep on 4/11/2013 & rated 93 points: light gold color. peaches, melon and candy apple. love it! (4148 views)
Tasted by Vanilla on 2/25/2013 & rated 89 points: Big popcorn smell, butter, good acidity and long finish. great Chardonnay in this style.
a solid 89 (4000 views)
Tasted by AlphaL on 10/15/2012 & rated 91 points: We drank this at home after Jan finished her last client’s tax return. It was light gold in color with a nice nose of oak and tree fruit like peach and lemon. Mid palate it was more oak with butter and hints of vanilla. It had good acidity and the elements were nicely balanced. The finish was mid length and very smooth. A very good Russian River Valley Chardonnay. (3503 views)
Tasted by Georgenenni on 9/25/2012 & rated 93 points: One of my favorite Chardonnays, light oak with great fruit and perfect acidity. Hints of red apple and sweet lemon, an absolutely wonderful wine. (3388 views)
Tasted by DRice on 9/22/2012: - Yellow gold color. (3469 views)
Tasted by Ridgerunner on 12/1/2011 & rated 91 points: Always really like Russian River Chardonnay (2114 views)
Tasted by Rivers1488 on 10/8/2011: Received the 20th Anniversary box containing the 06, 07, 08 vintages. Performed a vertical tasting of them poolside Saturday afternoon/evening. My comparison of them was:
2006 – Most bright, tropical of the three.
2007 – The fuller, rounder wine.
2008 – Also bright but with more fresh acidity. (2933 views)
Tasted by slywka7 on 9/17/2011 & rated 91 points: I liked this better than the Crossbarn, with a better range of flavor and structure. (799 views)
Tasted by Tarrant on 8/1/2011 & rated 88 points: This was really good, but a really bad QPR in my opinion, it fit the bill with the fresh buttered corn on the cob we had, but it seemed a bit disjointed and perhaps young(?), still, it really tasted good and was enjoyable - Gold, full bodied with a nose of creamy peach, pear, butter, caramel and vanilla, a bit disjointed now, with the alcohol being quite prevalent, decent acidity, intense, sweet, smooth on the finish with very good length, nice, but we've had many better chards for much less money, a pass overall (88 Points). (2060 views)
Tasted by pkatz on 5/14/2011 & rated 89 points: More structured and less friendly on the palate than the 07. Maybe will soften with time. (2274 views)
Tasted by ews3 on 5/7/2011 & rated 91 points: 2011 Philadelphia Wine Festival (Marriott, Philadelphia PA): nice lemon notes. this had oak, but i didnt think it overwhelmed. (4970 views)
Tasted by Scharin on 4/5/2011 & rated 91 points: Golden color. Nose: Toasted oak, hay, and vanilla. Palate: Pineapple, vanilla. Short finish until it opens, then nice bright acidity. Good food wine. (2379 views)
Tasted by jeff nowak on 3/4/2011: made in a style i can't embrace. sickingly sweet and over oaked. highly recommended as an expensive turkey baste. (2701 views)
Tasted by joshwoodward on 12/2/2010 & rated 91 points: More restrained and rustic than the Kongsgaard, shorter. Still delicious. $56 (2566 views)
Tasted by KeithSurg on 11/27/2010 & rated 88 points: Oaky, buttery nose and palate with pear and citrus flavors. Smooth finish. Very California. (2640 views)
Tasted by agnorger on 11/20/2010 & rated 89 points: Big rich chardonnay but not buttery. Paired well with crab and butter. (2743 views)
Tasted by rdsboca on 8/18/2010 & rated 91 points: NIce balance, great acidity, classic chard. Rich, opulent with interesting minerality mixed with vanilla and bright citrus/lemon. A lip smacker. Unfined and unfiltered. (2905 views)

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
