Tasted by Daniel___Walsh on 4/5/2024 & rated 93 points: Really good as well. (288 views)
Tasted by whitmanlholt on 9/3/2023 & rated 92 points: Popped and poured. This is a solid red wine with mouth-staining intensity. There is some minor sediment at the end of the bottle. The nose is very expressive, with mint, black currant, oak, and some slight lifted flowers. In the mouth, this is very full, rich, and layered – the overall sensation is smooth but packed with flavor. The finish carries the sensation of a rich fruit pie. Overall, this is a well-rendered California Cab – it’s hard to complain, so just drink and enjoy. 92 point. (840 views)
Tasted by JGP1985 on 4/28/2023 & rated 96 points: Very rich wine, dark red fruit, cassis, hints of chocolate. Enjoyed with a NY Strip and then afterwards. (1054 views)
Tasted by wabi47 on 4/4/2023 & rated 94 points: double decanted for (plenty of) sediment; concentrated liqueur-like mixed wild berry, still bright and lively. (1034 views)
Tasted by jsmorris707 on 9/17/2022 & rated 95 points: Similar to prior note after double decanting for 2 hrs; delicious, drink or hold (1856 views)
Tasted by fisk15 on 7/29/2022 & rated 98 points: Really stellar showing. Stored offsite since release. Color was dark with rim that started to clear but no bricking. Wine was nearly perfect and at 14 years there's no reason to wait. Still a bit of tannin, cocoa dark fruit, alcohol in check. Lovely. (1737 views)
Tasted by Elkcims on 6/15/2022 & rated 95 points: Agree with Harry below: Getting long in the tooth but not by much. Dark fruit, anise, leather, mellow tannins. Saved a split overnight in cellar - gained weight with more time. (1554 views)
Tasted by Harry Cantrell on 4/15/2022 & rated 94 points: Deep garnet. Nose of a more mellow version of Pride Reserve of 10 years ago. Berries, tobacco, anise. Taste big, more mellow, berries, hint of tobacco, finish with licorice. Quite good. (1488 views)
Tasted by gesusser on 4/2/2022 & rated 95 points: Smooth as glass after 2 hour decant ..tannins smoothed out..deep,rich and most excellent with bacon wrapped filets; most excellent (1439 views)
Tasted by Bob in NC on 1/11/2022 & rated 95 points: Absolutely delicious with a sublime finish. (1393 views)
Tasted by Bob in NC on 9/18/2021 & rated 93 points: Silky smooth; liquid black velvet. The tannins are well integrated and the flavors are seamless from the black juicy fruit, to the cocoa, to the black pepper, to a little cedar forest and a delightful finish.

Don't see this improving, drink up over the next couple of years.. (1602 views)
Tasted by L84Dinner on 9/1/2021 & rated 96 points: Not decanted, berries and cedar nose, rich palate with ample fruit and silky resolves tannins. Took about 90 minutes to fully open but singing after that. Long finish. Agree a long decant is optimal. Drink now but could hold 5+ years as it will likely improve. (1459 views)
Tasted by jsmorris707 on 7/17/2021 & rated 96 points: Double decanted for 3 hrs, deep ruby, black cherries with some vanilla on the nose, black cherries on the palate, med. tannins, long finish; outstanding, just entering peak drinking, drink or hold (1847 views)
Tasted by Venezia on 7/10/2021 & rated 95 points: rich and elegant. forest floor and cedar nose. rich dark berries, tobacco. lovely right now. decant for 3 hours. (1431 views)
Tasted by gesusser on 5/2/2021 & rated 94 points: Score reflects 2nd night score...deep rich long legged cab..needs a lonnnggg decant (1534 views)
Tasted by Geoff on 4/22/2021 & rated 95 points: Very port like in nature. Deep dark fruit, smooth mouthfeel multiple flavors and overtones, long finish. Holding up well. (1375 views)
Tasted by Elkcims on 4/3/2021 & rated 96 points: 90 minute slow ox: medium bodied, rich and elegant, blueberry, cherry, forest floor, sweet and smooth tannins. This is a solid 96, and a pleasure to drink. Again, I'm finding the 07s to have held up well. (1423 views)
Tasted by rmh66 on 12/31/2020 & rated 94 points: PnP and followed for several hours. Took a good two hours to really kick in. Red cherry, cassis, blackberry, smoke, menthol, a little dried fruit, aged oak, earth, and a bit of strawberry on the nose. Blackberries, red cherries, cassis, dried cherries, earth, herbs, and a little dark chocolate on the palate. Nice acidity, integrated though still present tannins, long delicious finish. Wow, this was great. This bottle had a lot more tertiary notes than I was expecting, which added to the complexity, but it's still deliciously fruity. Was still great over the next few days. (1482 views)
Tasted by erictayl on 12/25/2020 & rated 95 points: From memory of last night- Big fan of pride's reserve regardless of vintage. For this '07, phenomenal balance of all the elements plus a well-defined streak of pure cassis that made every sip a joy. (1360 views)
Tasted by Elkcims on 10/21/2020 & rated 96 points: 60 min decant. Very balanced, full bodied yet not monolithic. Incredibly balanced with cherry and blackberry fruit, oak and tannin completely integrated. Multiple layers - complex and left me feeling grateful I still have a few left in cellar from release. 96+ (1505 views)
Tasted by DoubleD1969 on 7/24/2020: Purchased from the winery during a 2010 trip. Pop and pour. Opaque. Very aromatic with lavender, blueberry pie, and forest floor notes. I can smell the wine as I am walking around the house with the glass. Palate is velvety with dark chocolate and blackberries. Finish reminds me of Hershey's chocolate syrup. Best 2007 Napa/Sonoma cab I can remember. Sadly only bought 2 bottles and this was my last.

Edit: 2nd best to the 2007 Spotteswoode I had several years ago. (1747 views)
Tasted by Bob in NC on 3/17/2020 & rated 92 points: 3 hour decant. Big, juicy and wonderful with an amazing nose. A great steak wine with rich black velvety fruit, black pepper and a long lingering sexy finish with soft tannins. This wine has several years of great drinking; glad we have two more bottles! (2005 views)
Tasted by kgott2 on 2/22/2020 & rated 95 points: Opened a magnum. allowed 45 minute decant. Drinking beautifully. Lots of bright dark fruit and layers of flavor that Pride vineyards yield so generously. Paired well with bone in short rib. (1794 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
