The estate has been owned by the Baly family since 1977. The name ‘Coutet’ is derived from the Gascon’s word for knife and the estate’s wines are renowned for their fresh ‘cutting’ acidity and crisp lively palate. Château Coutet has 35 hectares of vineyards planted to Sémillon (75%), Sauvignon Blanc (23%) and Muscadelle (2%). In their youth the wines show beguiling aromas of citrus, tropical fruits, white flowers, honey and ginger, revealing more candied fruit, gingerbread notes with age.
