Tasted by Ecoenophile on 5/21/2023 & rated 92 points: PNP. Held up well (385 views)
Tasted by SCosgrove on 4/10/2023 & rated 92 points: This has matured since last bottle, loved it even more. (307 views)
Tasted by gew71walsh on 3/12/2021 & rated 91 points: Same as last bottle a couple of months ago. Paired with beef brisket. (983 views)
Tasted by gew71walsh on 12/31/2020 & rated 91 points: Is beginning to lose something from my earlier bottles. Need to drink up. (917 views)
Tasted by OneOfTheBasicFoodGroups on 12/28/2020 & rated 90 points: Bit of backsliding on this bottle. Still good, but not outstanding like the last bottle. One left to see which way Winter cab will be remembered. (944 views)
Tasted by Ecoenophile on 12/24/2020 & rated 91 points: Decanted for 2+ hrs before first taste. Deep purple fruit on the nose. Same plus some tobacco darkness on the finish. Fine grain tannins. Drank over three days and held up well. On third day, added some notes of cedar on the nose. Very enjoyable. (742 views)
Tasted by OneOfTheBasicFoodGroups on 4/30/2020 & rated 95 points: Fully mature and lovely to drink. Opened up noticeably over lunch. My bad for not opening/decanting earlier, but sometimes you just need to follow your impulses. Still great at first taste. Good for many more years. (963 views)
Tasted by wiscgrad on 9/22/2019 & rated 91 points: Mostly red fruit. Smooth tannins but a bit thinner than I would have thought for a nap cab (714 views)
Tasted by iamandyc on 12/24/2018 & rated 93 points: Hadn't had a Winter cab in a while and forgot how good these are, especially at the pricing available after the winery closed. Dark, rich wine that is well balanced with lots of lift/energy even a decade later. Opened at a party and disappeared quickly so no more detailed notes but clearly still going strong. (1083 views)
Tasted by gew71walsh on 12/13/2018 & rated 92 points: Similar to last note two years ago. This wine is in substantially same place. A good food pairing wine (in this case, Beef Wellington) that is integrated and balanced. Fruits still evident, medium finish. Probably will not get better (or for that matter, develop tertiary traits), but should last as is for another couple of years. (843 views)
Tasted by Verb on 9/16/2018 & rated 91 points: dark red with brick rim - nice cherry, blackberry and cassis nose but no real complexity - full body with predominant cherry fruit - 10 second finish - a very good food wine, but doubt enough development potential to become great wine (1023 views)
Tasted by D3S on 9/7/2018 & rated 92 points: Very good wine (820 views)
Tasted by D3S on 2/9/2018 & rated 95 points: Outstanding nose, nice dark mountain fruit, well balanced tannins and long finish. Drinking very nice at this time. (1008 views)
Tasted by Tony Poli on 9/1/2017 & rated 92 points: Blind tasting theme was Napa, Sonoma, Washington State Cab or Meritage. This was one of the stars. Dark garnet, no signs of age on the color, but a little bit of sediment, so the age guesses were pretty much right on. Big nose, lots of dark fruit and some spice. Palate screamed Cab, well integrated, plenty of fruit with lots of structure. Long finish. Too bad Winter is no longer with us, and continuing to make this wine. (1173 views)
Tasted by schaden43 on 3/4/2017 & rated 90 points: Still young. Needs a couple more years. (1608 views)
Tasted by bugdoced on 11/25/2016 & rated 92 points: wotn with turkey and stuffing (1476 views)
Tasted by iamandyc on 7/4/2016: Too long ago to remember specifics but was really good Napa cab with richness and complexity. (1980 views)
Tasted by gew71walsh on 3/20/2016 & rated 92 points: My first time with this winery. Deep ruby color, wonderful nose of dark berries and oak. Well balanced with lingering finish. Finished evening of burgers and friends watching Syra. Win. Have 3 more bottles which I will stretch out over next couple of years. (1784 views)
Tasted by wboyd on 11/20/2015 & rated 93 points: Delicious wine. Complex aromas of eucalyptus and red fruit. Long finish. Still vibrant with years of drinkability. (1807 views)
Tasted by madalyn on 6/2/2015 & rated 91 points: drinking better than the last bottle I tried. nice bottle that is drinking well now (1911 views)
Tasted by Acohen on 1/21/2015 & rated 90 points: Needed a little time to open with classic dark fruit, well integrated tannins and medium finish (1906 views)
Tasted by bugdoced on 12/29/2014 & rated 92 points: in really good shape with dark fruit vanilla and some oak
delicious with some grilled steaks in fla. (1739 views)
Tasted by bugdoced on 12/1/2014 & rated 90 points: in good shape
powerful rich dark fruit
earth and tannins mostly in the background
drink or hold (1691 views)
Tasted by Acohen on 8/9/2014 & rated 91 points: Nice traditional cab with dark fruit, current, blackberry and nicely integrated tannins (1742 views)
Tasted by jlaws7lh on 3/24/2014 & rated 91 points: This was a delightful wine that benefited from a 3 hour decant. The nose on this was amazing, while the flavor was not quite as explosive, but still good. Tons of tannins on this one, and enjoying it with a nice piece of red meat, which I did, does this wine good. I would not be as high on this if I paid the original price of $160, but it is a very nice cab at $50. (2086 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
