Tasted by Mtpisgah on 4/17/2020: Decanted for about an hour. Big and in your face, but not as ,I have as it was on release. We used to love this stuff but moved away from it a few years ago. Every now and then it is nice to slum and go back to a big slutty wine. (907 views)
Tasted by retired_and_roving on 3/9/2018 & rated 88 points: Pleasantly surprised - was expecting a fruit bomb, but time must have mellowed this a bit. Decanted for about 1 hour prior to serving. Very funky, bretty nose - lots of barnyard and some band aid. Dark ruby red color, no sediment, quite clear. On the palate - dark cherries and raspberries, a bit of smoke and meaty gaminess, enough acid to keep it balanced. Still more of a fruit forward syrah, but enough balance for drinking enjoyment. These are definitely in the drinking window, but probably will hold for at least another 5 years. (1483 views)
Tasted by Tonester on 7/18/2016 & rated 92 points: Had with rack of lamb. Drinking nicely now. Well balanced and did not find it to be fruit forward now with another year of age. (2035 views)
Tasted by rmjdmj on 9/8/2015 & rated 94 points: Nice structure. Excellent wine. Berry forward with lingering finish. Continue to cellar for a few more years. (2024 views)
Tasted by StainedGlass on 2/28/2014: Far too sweet and jammy. The black fruit preserves were so overwhelming that I had a hard time discerning any other characteristic. I brought this to a BYOB restaurant with limited decanting time and should have recorked it and hope that it would settle down a few days later, but I am not sure it would have. I have a couple of bottle left but I personally won't open them for at least 5-7 years in the hope of . . . something. (2858 views)
Tasted by gfm10 on 12/28/2012 & rated 94 points: A wow wine from Justin. The body is Full. The wine has Satin-like texture. The wine finishes Long. Great dark color. Had hints of choc/mocha, dark berries. Smooth tannins. (2459 views)
Tasted by Luckey on 4/6/2012 & rated 88 points: Fruit bomb with little structure. Caveat: the wine had been subjected to heat at some point and may have been partially cooked. (2366 views)
Tasted by oaklandwinelover on 1/15/2012 & rated 95 points: Awesome! Fruit forward and Jammy but with good balance. Undertones of cocoa and bacon fat (3404 views)
Tasted by italio39 on 1/1/2012 & rated 98 points: Incredibly dense and jammy! Very fruit forward but yet retains a wonderful balance and a nice long finish. (3142 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
