| Community Tasting Notes (average 90.9 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 21 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Tarrant on 5/20/2024 & rated 84 points: Sadly, about 2-3 years past it's life - Still had the typicity of high quality Cali Chard on the nose, palate, however it appeared oxidized (Orange wine? my daughter asked). Kicking myself for letting this one go (Too many bottles in my cellar now for the pace we drink today. Still see the community has almost 150 bottles in the collective inventory, and unless storage conditions are markedly different from mine, it's too late for this one (84 Points). (22 views) | | Tasted by mwrock on 1/5/2019 & rated 91 points: Clean nose, sweet fruit, taste had pear taste, with light and balanced acidity, finish was clean and short, drinking very well right now. (1262 views) | | Tasted by cubswinws on 11/23/2017 & rated 91 points: Lovely wine that is nice and mellow at his point. (1735 views) | | Tasted by Baron Slick on 4/10/2017 & rated 92 points: Such a smooth operator. The nose is candied and tropical, very aromatic, with toast, and hints of marshmallow, flint, and malo action. Rich, round, and buttery in the mouth, the lemon meringue flavors are framed by beautiful concentration, impressive depth, perfect acidity, and a smooth texture. A complete wine. (2023 views) | | Tasted by bacchus on 11/5/2016 & rated 90 points: this wine was shared by C. J. Savino who attended central jersey CT offline dinner held at Under The Moon Cafe in Bordentown,. N.J. the wine lived up to its reputation and was at an ideal point in its development. golden color, generous nose, light skinned fruit notes, a touch of sweetness, oak and acidity. all in balance. a real treat. (489 views) | | Tasted by Barry Notes on 7/16/2015 & rated 90 points: PnP slightly chilled. Clear, bright/deep straw color. Nose and taste showed oak, yellow apple. Fruit was not crisp or tart, rather a bit flat. Med body, decent long finish, proper Chard favor. Nice if you like the style. Drink now. Nothing off. $52 (2867 views) | | Tasted by gmbdds on 5/16/2015 & rated 91 points: Tropical and rich with toasted marshmallow notes to go along with the fruit. Racy and light on its feet to balance out the full-bodied character. (2478 views) | | Tasted by vmad on 10/8/2013 & rated 88 points: Smakt på blindsmaking i vinklubben. (3055 views) | | Tasted by Pebben on 8/24/2013 & rated 93 points: Consistent with previous note. (2770 views) | | Tasted by ttuominen on 7/26/2013 & rated 91 points: Quite consistent with previous note. A bit less grippy through the mid-palate, but replaced with a sweetness on the finish. Not cloying, but definitely sweet tropical fruits. (2614 views) | | Tasted by petitblanc on 6/4/2013 & rated 87 points: Beautiful oak treatment, decent chardonnay fruit, spoilt by a slight alcohol burn that contributes to a certain awkward, thin unpleasantness from midpalate through the finish, leaving the impression of a careless, mass-produced California chardonnay. The lovely tropical and malo nose is the only reason I didn't score this below 80. (2093 views) | | Tasted by Pebben on 4/7/2013 & rated 93 points: Popped and poured. Medium golden colour. On the nose; toasty tropical fruit, pears, buttered popcorn and toffee. On the palate; rich, mouth coating, citrus dominance, zappy acidity, very good concentration and length. Could have scored a point higher hadn’t it been for a little alcoholic heat on the tail, but this is still one of the best whites I’ve had this year. (2142 views) | | Tasted by ttuominen on 4/5/2013 & rated 91 points: Popped and poured at room temperature.
C: Deep yellow, golden N: Lemon and honeysuckle. Subtle popcorn and butter, a hint of smoke. P: Buttery attack, very full mouthfeel, coats the palate. Tart, grippy oak throught the middle. Then a refreshing citrus attack cleans up very nicely. Toasty all the way through, and the long finish is one of burnt/toasted tropical fruits. O: Complex, full, good concentration of fruit. A bit tart with the oak unfortunately. Lovely, and will probably develop very nicely (1266 views) | | Tasted by Double-A on 11/13/2012 & rated 95 points: Baked, yellow apple, ginger, white pepper and earth nose with toasted hazelnut and vanilla accents. Full and opulent with a finesse derived from a sense of minerality. Smoky, toasty finish. 5/5 (561 views) | | Tasted by bronww on 8/25/2012 & rated 92 points: Flowers, white peach and a touch of honeysuckle. Mineral component and good acidiity. Quite tart. (1922 views) | | Tasted by WineCellarTV on 8/2/2012 & rated 94 points: Pale yellow, golden in the glass. Juicy. Fresh aromas of Citrus and Lemon. Vibrant Peach, Chalk. Hints of Butter and Vanilla. Somewhat roasty. Round and full. Lemon, Grapefruit with some traces of Sweet Butter and Toast. Present and nice acidity. Medium-long finish of Lemon, Grapefruit and some Sweetness. A little bit of oak. A precise, but young wine with great structure and balance. Now vibrant and fresh, this wine will gain complexity over the years. | Kistler Producer websiteChardonnay The Chardonnay GrapeUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino County |
