Tasted by ogres3 on 1/21/2024 & rated 91 points: Pleasant, but not as complex or memorable as expecting of a TRB wine. (603 views)
Tasted by Backdoctor on 11/26/2023 & rated 95 points: still seems young. a big napa cab (745 views)
Tasted by pgb67 on 11/1/2022 & rated 95 points: Summer and Fall 2022 Wine Adventures (Corolla, NC & Three Rivers, MI & Dogwood Grove, VA): Such a classy wine that has aged wonderfully with elegant fragrances and tastes of plum sauce, fig ganache, and sweet spices. Balanced, integrated, lovely. (1203 views)
Tasted by jordanj on 12/13/2020 & rated 91 points: Overripe dark and red candied fruit. Strong rhubarb. Drying tannins and high acidity. Big but not hot. I guess just lacking complexity at this point. Still totally primary. (1881 views)
Tasted by andolini on 10/24/2020 & rated 92 points: Popped and poured. Does not seem like a decade old wine. Still youthful, bright fruit, and could use some more cellaring time. (1705 views)
Tasted by Dalex on 8/9/2020 & rated 93 points: Great wine at a very good place. Cork removed at 2 and 3.5 hours later we drank over another 1.5 hours. Open for business with great plum fruit, milk chocolate and some spicy flavors in a slightly off dry style that is certainly crowd pleasing. (1707 views)
Tasted by kanab ram on 4/20/2020: The last of my 2010s and regretful for opening as this could easily go another 5 years before coming into its prime. You can tell this is a monster but was very closed. If consuming now I would highly recommend decanting. (1720 views)
Tasted by PSUSteve on 1/24/2020: Not ready on PnP and didn’t seem to open a lot over an hour in the glass. Never got more after decant. (1708 views)
Tasted by leadpencil on 9/28/2019 & rated 95 points: Full bodied. Red and black fruits, limestone. Integrated tannins. (1456 views)
Tasted by pjhr on 8/10/2019 & rated 94 points: As delicious as the last bottle. (1455 views)
Tasted by tcufletch on 5/17/2019: Tasting with Will Segui (Mending Wall - Napa): Opened about an hour before first pour and taste; nose was super perfumed with sweet tobacco and dark blue and black fruits; one of those wines that brings much joy simply sniffing in the glass; palate was full of blue and black fruit, tobacco, graphite; even after almost 10 years, this was still super tannic; re-visited after 9-10 hours and not much had changed...telling me this is still quite young.

This was my first RM Corona and I really enjoyed it; really rich and luscious Oakville fruit layers. Interesting vineyard as well...an old site, steep hillside, no shade, producing tiny berried fruit out of what used to be an old gravel pit. (1351 views)
Tasted by pjhr on 3/6/2019 & rated 94 points: Delicious blackberry, cassis, oak, and spice on the nose and silky palate with refreshing acidity and tannins on the long finish. (1505 views)
Tasted by BrunelloBob on 12/25/2018: Wine of the night (1518 views)
Tasted by dlcass on 12/10/2018 & rated 92 points: Hum... I was a touch disappointed. Normally a good vintage and I love these wines generally. A touch fragmented. Nose of dark berry, subtle oak, menthol, forest floor. A bit fragmented on the palate. Full mouth feel. Not that intriguing. (1650 views)
Tasted by Mr T on 3/26/2018: PNP night one and kind of muted. Not bad but just not singing. Drank the rest night 2 with friends and did not get any. They all seemed to love it. (2166 views)
Tasted by gharter on 1/29/2018 & rated 92 points: In a really good place now. Great black fruit, spice, smooth tannins on a long finish. Just kept getting better with time. No where near its peak. (1950 views)
Tasted by t_moderne on 12/25/2017 & rated 92 points: Opened, poured a glass, and recorked. Tasted about 2 hours later.
Dark color. Nose offers some dark cherries and black plums.
Wonderful cherry and plum flavors with an enjoyable dried cocoa powder on the finish.
Delicious. (2021 views)
Tasted by Acohen on 12/22/2017 & rated 92 points: Nice balance, finely integrated tannins and lots of plum and currant with a long finish (1784 views)
Tasted by Sauvyfan on 12/7/2017 & rated 92 points: kind of disappointed here. I thought that this had a syrupy compote-like palate. Definitely a black fruit dominant profile. Blackberry, boysenberry, currants. Fat mid-palate. It is a complete and well structured wine, with plenty of acidity to let it go 10 more years. I may have opened this much too early. (1831 views)
Tasted by Loren Sonkin on 6/8/2017 & rated 94 points: Drank over two nights. Better on night 2. Still young with upside potential. Purple in color. The nose has cassis, spice, slight menthol and a bit of char. On the palate, this is deep. Great texture. Showing some layering as it unwinds in the glass. One of those wines that demands attention with every sip. Long finish. Great now, hold if you can though,
for just a few more years. (2561 views)
Tasted by wythes on 10/17/2016 & rated 89 points: Straight out of the bottle, the nose on this wine was very promising. Deep and rich. A really good Napa cab nose. But the attack was - how do I put this - tart. Extremely tart. It had almost a bitterness to it, similar to an under ripe piece of fruit. Sorta like an under ripe orange, but without the citrus flavors of an orange. I'm hoping some time & air mellows this out a bit. To be continued... (2543 views)
Tasted by Carl Thoma on 4/11/2016 & rated 90 points: I was disappointed given the reviews from others. I found the fruit lacking in richness and the tannins were not refined. I would not recommend for this price when better wines at this same value. Try HALL. (3291 views)
Tasted by yeti575rider on 3/20/2016 & rated 94 points: Apres ski dinner at Steamboat. After not having much luck with the few RM Napa cab bottlings I was crossing my fingers on the single vineyards. This one finally came through big time Really good stuff and up there with my favorite all time cabs. Tons of dark currant fruit and a very long finish that builds from first taste. Not a lot of earthiness type complexity if that's what your looking for as this one is all about the layers of fruit and the texture. (2902 views)
Tasted by csimm on 2/23/2016 & rated 93 points: PnP with initial notes of red currant, red and black cherry, tart raspberry, anise, clove, and some granite dust. Tight, with a bit of a chalky finish that muted the fruit on the back end. 91 points with the first few sips on the PnP.

Into the decanter it went for an hour+ in hopes it would stretch its legs more and ratchet up the depth of flavor. Sure enough, it did just that. Deep red/purple plum, ripe red and black currant, chocolate, cedar, and faint baking spice.

From hour-one to hour-four, this was delivering at its apex. After nearly four hours in the decanter, this slowly started to fade and become a bit muddled. The plum note became more prominent on the back end. Still good, but it exhibited progressively less delineated layers of identifiable complexity over an extended time.

93 points when it was firing on all cylinders. Drink now with a short decant, or hold for a year or two before consumption. Not a wine you want to cellar for the next decade. (4415 views)
Tasted by 1964vintage on 1/30/2016 & rated 92 points: Very good wine. The nose and fruit are excellent. Would have scored higher if it had a bit more depth and finish. Tasty though. (2694 views)

2010 Rivers-Marie Cabernet Sauvignon Corona Vineyard

From the release letter:

2010 Rivers-Marie "Corona Vineyard" Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville -- 125 cases produced, 14.5% alcohol, 80% new French oak

Everything about this wine is a touch better than its 2009 edition. All the wildness of that wine is reigned in and focused a bit more in 2010. There's better oak integration, riper tannin (still abundant though) and a nice mineral driven site character that makes the wine obviously Oakville. We always talk about the AVA's great mix of fruit and power and it's on full display here. The nose is brooding and very black fruited but the acidity adds some higher toned notes of citrus peel and violets. After some time in the decanter, the palate becomes very plush and is driven more by texture than pure fruit or weight. The vineyard is planted next to an old pea gravel quarry and you can sense this location in the wine. There's a nice crushed rock element that comes on near the finish that gives the wine a bit more intellectual interest and length. This again though is the bottling for the cellar so let it rest or give it several hours in a decanter.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
