Tasted by pjhr on 3/23/2024 & rated 96 points: Layers of delicious dark ripe cherry, blackberry, and currant with oaky notes on the nose and silky rich palate. Culminates in a long finish with well resolved tannins. (273 views)
Tasted by mdvillaverde on 1/28/2024 & rated 95 points: Consistent with past notes. Still going strong (461 views)
Tasted by sean7711 on 7/28/2023 & rated 98 points: Bought off the secondary market a few months back. Opened on a whim, first glasses were PnP and decanted and enjoyed over a few hours. I could smell the aromatics from across the room when I poured this into the decanted. Hardly any sediment - definitely a well stored perfect provenance bottle. One of the best wines I've had all year. I could not believe this was 11 years old. My first Schrader and hopefully not my last! (1619 views)
Tasted by gharter on 4/15/2023 & rated 90 points: PnP, not as good as the last few bottles. Beautiful aromatics with blackberry, currant, vanilla, anise and slight floral. Rich and complex with blackberry, black currant, vanilla, anise. Silky smooth tannins in a long finish. Appears to be at its peak or starting to decline. Drink up. (1199 views)
Tasted by Amerique on 3/18/2023 & rated 94 points: Rich, delicious, very smooth and soft, black cherry fruit with sweetness, cassis flavors mellowed out, excellent structure, ample age, tannins much less, ample finish (1148 views)
Tasted by Phidelt418 on 3/2/2023 & rated 96 points: I am a younger new-to-the-wine game consumer. I found this bottle to be excellent really. I couldn’t imagine drinking this young. It’s perfectly balanced with very little heat despite the higher alcohol content. It takes like a 10-year-old Borduex, but with tons of fruit and sass. To me, it’s exactly what a perfect 10-year-old Napa cab should be. I really enjoyed it. To be honest I was expected to be disappointed due to the cost. I was pleasantly surprised and would but it again. (1148 views)
Tasted by Wine Sparty on 2/25/2023 & rated 89 points: Way over the top for me. Heavy dark fruits and nothing else. (1158 views)

Tasted by mdvillaverde on 10/12/2022 & rated 95 points: Consistent with past notes (948 views)
Tasted by Some49Dude on 10/10/2022: Super well balanced, especially after 10 years. Light tannin and still fruity. Not surprising given the To Kalon provenance . Worth the money! (865 views)
Tasted by jshufelt on 10/9/2022 & rated 93 points: Decanted for three hours before service - six hours might have been closer to the mark. In the glass, a pink meniscus yields quickly to a dark, purplish-black core. On the nose, an almost spicy burst of currants and blueberries (and I mean spicy in the heat sense, not the baking spice sense). On the palate, more currants and blueberries, along with stone fruit, and secondary notes of cocoa and mint, before the tannins take over and hold court through a long, enamel-staining finish. This wine has the goods, but it will take at least another 5-10 years before it begins to fully show them. (805 views)
Tasted by gharter on 5/30/2022 & rated 95 points: 2 hour decant. Beautiful aromatics with blackberry, currant, vanilla, anise and slight floral. rich and complex with layers of flavor showing blackberry, clack currant, vanilla, anise. Silky smooth tannins in a long finish. Could be at its peak, but should hold for some time. (1342 views)
Tasted by jsmorris707 on 4/16/2022 & rated 98 points: Double decanted for 2 hours, deep ruby, black cherries with a touch of vanilla & cinnamon, med. tannins, long finish; outstanding, drink or hold. It was WOTN against some good competition. (1431 views)
Tasted by RyanWu on 4/16/2022 & rated 96 points: Magical wine! The first two days, it was a classic To-Kalon wine. Elegant, supple, solid core, but the mute nose. On the third day, the nose appeared. The most exciting thing was turning into a milk chocolate favor! Under the blue fruits, there was a hint of milk chocolate or hot cocoa, which was not pronounced in the first two days. Btw, the wine was still strong. It should be good for at least 10+ years. (1115 views)
Tasted by BigBoy_Sonoma on 3/29/2022 & rated 96 points: Black fruit, cedar, pepper, leather, chocolate and layered complexity. A (1389 views)
Tasted by dhammer53 on 3/6/2022 & rated 97 points: Brought this to Crabtree Kittle House in Chappaqua for my birthday. Decanted about 30 minutes. Some sweetness to start. A hint of tannins. Dark color. Full bodied. Really nice wine. I drank this with steak. It was gone within 90 minutes of opening. Glad I have other 2012's. Love a wine with some age on it. This was fun to drink. Drink now or you can hold for another 5 years. (1197 views)
Tasted by Bcw1989 on 6/5/2021 & rated 96 points: Comparison of two Schrader’s last night with dinner. 2012 GIII this T6. Much more reserved and lot of fruit. Tannins have really subsided. Finish was very long a typical of Schrader cabs. Lots of fruit in the mouth and was a better drinking wine than a food wine. Still had lots of life several hours after it was opened. Great wine experience. (1702 views)
Tasted by Geaux Tigers on 1/7/2021 & rated 99 points: Simply astonishing after a 2 hr decant. No specific notes. No need to wait longer. Speechless! Went between 98-100 depending on the minute. Drank over 2 hrs. (2628 views)
Tasted by Myman24 on 5/7/2020 & rated 97 points: My first Schrader (other than Double Diamond). Couravin pour, air in glass for 2h. Amazing silky fruit Napa bomb but in this complex and seductive way. Second pour PnP and the tannins are so manageable and well integrated. This thing is a beauty now, why wait! TRB of course, my favorite Napa winemaker! (2919 views)
Tasted by KenK on 12/15/2019 & rated 94 points: Hyde n Chic, Naples: A really good hedonistic Napa cab. Sweet creamy red cherry fruit with excellent depth of flavors and nice balance. A joy to drink. Years of fun ahead, glad I have more. (2935 views)
Tasted by Artbreadman on 7/26/2019 & rated 96 points: Superb juice. Not as good as the amazing ‘06 I had the pleasure of trying but what is! (3076 views)
Tasted by mdvillaverde on 4/13/2019 & rated 97 points: 100% cab aged 20 months in rare Darnajou French oak barrels. 14.6% ABV. I let it breathe for only about 30 minutes and drank over 2.5 hours. Consistent with my prior note, unbelievably pure, rich fruit. Full bodied and concentrated. Perfectly balanced acidity. Dark berry notes. No cedar or licorice notes. Ready to drink now if you want. Remains among the best Schraders I've had. (2669 views)
Tasted by mdvillaverde on 3/9/2019 & rated 97 points: This is a note for a late January tasting. Unbelievably pure, ripe fruit.
Ready to drink now if you want. Tiers of flavor with a long finish. The 2011 T6 was disappointing but this is great. (2400 views)
Tasted by cadamson on 1/18/2019: Well I guess I am not toeing the party line here in that I did not get this one. Only word I could think of during 2-3 glasses was monolithic. Was disappointing in that, while I knew this was going to be big (and was once a fan of these), it just did not have anything to say other than 'look how decadent I am'. Reminded me, when watching the newest episode of Grand Tour of the Hennessey Exorcist Camaro - 1000HP (so wow, that is decadent!), but just try turning the thing (no grace). (2386 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard

Beckstoffer To Kalon continues to receive worldwide accolades for its wines, particularly in the last decade. The vineyard is on a gentle slope on the western foothills of the Oakville appellation. Soils are Bale loam/Bale clay loam, and are impeccably farmed by Andy Beckstoffer’s team. We have a by-acre contract so we can determine canopy, crop load and picking dates – but rely on the Beckstoffer viticulturists for insight into this unique vineyard to guide our decisions. ... ©2012 Tor Kenward Family Wines

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
