Still good fruit but now with some maturity to it and a smoother palate. Balanced acidity. Nice. (1080 views) | | Tasted by fmginc on 3/22/2019 & rated 87 points: Light notes (1174 views) | | Tasted by epeb on 9/10/2018 & rated 86 points: No. Didn´t make it. (1350 views) | | Tasted by Francophile on 8/10/2018 & rated 87 points: Rather light and little fruit, but reasonable with food (pork for us). A reasonable wine at the price. Always difficult to rate between like and dislike, so unless I drink a wine that really is horrid tend to say like! (1324 views) | | Tasted by fmginc on 4/7/2017 & rated 86 points: Light and soft with little finish. (1699 views) | | Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 1/24/2017 & rated 87 points: A private dinner (Restaurant Kasteel Heemstede *, Houten, Netherlands): Light and elegant, silky and creamy, bright acidity, soft acidity, notes of flowers and of tar, balanced and fresh, good length. Attractive in its easy way. (2123 views) | | Tasted by ashikoh on 12/27/2016 & rated 83 points: Translucent ruby violet hue. Not particularly aromatic but with hints of cherry and earth. On the palate, it is light bodied and fruity with tart cherry and a bright acidity begging for food. The finish is short but it is a pleasant accompaniment to homemade pizzas. (1467 views) | | Tasted by Atl-Joe on 10/26/2016 & rated 91 points: Cherries, strawberries, and an angel's kiss in spring, this wine is really made from all these things. The low ratings seem a bit off. Enjoyed with Spaghetti alla Carbonara, worked very well with that dish. Tender balance of red fruit on nose and palate and acidity on the finish. Some lees in the bottom of the bottle/last glass (I take that as a good thing). Light and tasty, higher rating in part driven by QPR, Garagiste promotion at $16.00. (1671 views) | | Tasted by flund on 2/6/2016 & rated 85 points: Snipig första dagen. De följande dagarna kommer en trevlig frukt fram. Great with pizza, love the style! (2540 views) | | Tasted by thunberg on 10/22/2015 & rated 86 points: Fruity, cherry, slightly earthy, a bit short. Less acidity and more fruity, easy-going. A pure and honest barbera. (1688 views) | | Tasted by JohanPe on 7/9/2015 & rated 85 points: Deep cherries and raspberries, good fruit. Clean and simple. Round acidity in the background, green herbs, short aftertaste. Lacks power to be really interesting imo. | Ferdinando Principiano Producer website.Barbera Varietal character (Appellation America) Varietal character (Wikipedia German) Varietal character (Wikipedia English) Barbera is a red wine variety, originally from Italy, which is best known as the second-most important Piedmontese variety after Nebbiolo. The wines made of this grape are mainly the everyday drinking wines of the region. The main appellations producing Barbera are Asti and Alba.
Barbera - The most widely grown red wine grape of Piedmont and Southern Lombardy, most famously around the towns of Asti and Alba, and Pavia. The wines of Barbera were once simply "what you drank while waiting for the Barolo to be ready." With a new generation of wine makers, this is no longer the case. The wines are now meticulously vinified, aged Barbera gets the name "Barbera Superiore" (Superior Barbera), sometimes aged in French barrique becoming "Barbera Barricato", and intended for the international market. The wine has bright cherry fruit, a very dark color, and a food-friendly acidity.Italy Italian Wines (ItalianMade.com, The Italian Trade Commission) | Italian Wine Guide on the WineDoctorPiedmont Vignaioli Piemontesi (Italian only) On weinlagen-infoAlba Consorzio di Tutela Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe e Roero
Alba is a town and comune of Piedmont, Italy, in the province of Cuneo. It is considered the capital of the hilly area of Langhe, and is famous for the white truffle, peach and wine production. Piedmont is in the Northwestern region of Italy, bordering France and Switzerland. Piedmont is predominantly a plain where the water flows from the Swiss and French Alps to form the headwaters of the Po river. The major wine producing areas are in the southern portion of the region in the hills known as the "Langhe". Here the people speak a dialect that is 1/3 French and 2/3 Italian that portrays their historical roots. Their cuisine is one of the most creative and interesting in Italy. Nebbiolo is the King grape here, producing Barolo and Barbaresco. In addition, the Barbera and Dolcetto are the workhorse grapes that produce the largest quantity of wine. Piedmont is predominantly a red wine producing area. There are a few whites made in Piedmont, and the Moscato grape produces a large volume of sweet, semi-sweet and sparkling wines as well. |
