Tasted by maxima on 5/12/2022 flawed bottle: Bouchonnée! (1210 views)
Tasted by Winiac on 5/11/2022 & rated 88 points: Very ripe fruit and balanced wine. Past peak. (780 views)
Tasted by rpk99 on 11/20/2020 & rated 94 points: Exceptional at this point. Too bad it all gone (1270 views)
Tasted by gothamfreerider on 8/3/2020 & rated 93 points: Silky agend tannins present firm layer: for sweet berry and cherry notes intermixed with Flavorful herbal spiciness. Wonderful! (1073 views)
(1856 views)
Tasted by CWang on 1/15/2019 & rated 93 points: More perfumed floral notes in the nose, with dark berries and cherries, mints, and exotic spices; more balanced fruity and juicy notes on the palate, with ripe berries and cherries and wood spices; long finish still; overall, 93-94 points at this much more evolved stage. (4592 views)
(1934 views)
Tasted by rustyRudy on 8/24/2018 & rated 92 points: I kept the bottle sealed and retasted over two more days, it did add some depth, maybe a little better at day two but started to show some oxidative notes on day three. A several hour decant might be the best bet. (1713 views)
Tasted by maxima on 8/24/2018 flawed bottle: Réduction! (1755 views)
Tasted by maxima on 8/22/2018 & rated 88 points: Fruits compotés, massif et tannique.
(1404 views)
Tasted by rustyRudy on 8/21/2018 & rated 92 points: Reddish purple. Moderately intense nose of cinnamon, spice, and cherries on the nose. Red cherry, cranberry, tobacco and a little earthiness. Finish is a little hot, with blackberries and tea. Closed down? Not currently living up to its hype. Decent but not a 96 pointet at this moment in time for me. Did need more than two hours to open up. (1361 views)
Tasted by CDStrombom on 6/27/2018 & rated 93 points: A true drinking pleasure. Still unpacking following our move from Detroit to SoCal, so I did not take notes. That being said, my wife and I enjoyed this wine immensely. (1079 views)
Tasted by kosmik on 8/12/2017 & rated 90 points: Très bien à excellent.
89-90 (1699 views)
Tasted by rpk99 on 7/25/2017 & rated 92 points: Settling in nicely, last bottle in a couple years should be right at peak. (1770 views)
Tasted by drrobvino on 3/3/2017 & rated 88 points: Nose of candied red cherries, kirsch, a bit boozy, burnt embers...perhaps Rhone-esque.
The palate shows off silky sweet tannins, bittersweet chocolate, overly-ripened cherries, and rhubarb.
This is a full bodied wine, with ample acidity to keep the wine from being overtly fat, and this wine has rounded nicely over the past 2 years of bottle age. I think it is in a perfect drinking window right now, and I would consume remaining bottles by the end of 2017.
Quite a good wine, but overpriced and overripe for my current tastes and preferences. (2049 views)
Tasted by John O' on 1/14/2017 & rated 92 points: 15 minutes of air. totally integrated. quite elegant. drink up, it won't get any better (2146 views)
Très long. Encore quelques années pour la prochaine. (2182 views)
Tasted by bugdoced on 1/9/2017 & rated 94 points: in a perfect drinking spot
soft sweetness with some backbone was a terrific accompaniment
to chicken with orange and lemon zest and soy sauce
this was worth holding on to an d being patient
an early contestant for wine of the year (1544 views)
Tasted by ctjared on 12/15/2016: Don't let it hang out at this point as the little fruit that is left fades away (1418 views)
Tasted by Tannic Monster on 8/20/2016 & rated 93 points: The nose is huge with hot tar, dark berries, and strawberry. Lively on the palate with zesty tannins and some minerality. Dark fruit, cocoa, leather, and strawberry jam with some toasted vanilla on the long finish...pretty amazing wine here. (1610 views)
Tasted by cofidis2 on 12/27/2015 & rated 90 points: Decanted 3 hours, and 5 years after my last bottle of this. I am a little torn with this wine as in the past the oak was more a background component and now it's a full in your face part of the wine. That also included a lot of wood tannin as well. Those tannins are very distracting and overpowering. There is ample minerality, graphite, and fruit as well. But I fear the oak and tannins will out live the rest of the wine. I would cautiously say drink this over the next 4-5 years, unless it makes a miraculous turn around. As a side, I'm finding a number of Douro wines from the 2004-2010 time frame where the judicious use of oak isn't turning out so well for them in the long term.

Tasted by K&J on 12/26/2015 & rated 95 points: Definitely a wow wine! Luscious, balanced, powerful, rich, but elegant at the same time. Well crafted. Double decant and wait about 1-2 hours before optimal. (2267 views)
Tasted by joet626 on 6/13/2015 & rated 95 points: This is fantastic. Wonderful color, nose, and taste. Doesn't get any better than this. Well balanced and just delicious (2869 views)
Tasted by garrigue65 on 3/28/2015 & rated 92 points: Drinking beautifully right now. Notes of coffee and cola with ripe dark fruit. Still has the flinty mineral finish. Great rustic wine. (3016 views)
Tasted by Magners on 2/20/2015: Powerful and concentrated on the fruit with generous notes of oak. A little too extracted and oaky for my palate but of course I find quality and complexity in this wine. Enormous length and balance made this an interesting wine to taste but I wouldn't buy it again.
