Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 89.9 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 248 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by drwine2001 on 4/22/2024: Disgorged February, 2023, 2 grams. Deep rosé color. Moderate fine bead. Strong floral and strawberry scents. Medium to lighter, delicate feel. Red berries and spice, very good acidity, dry and chalky with light tannin. (642 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 4/20/2024: A little touch earth and funky. Kinda grumpy (415 views)
Tasted by JRockEsq on 4/4/2024 & rated 85 points: Method: tasted at the domaine; 2020 base

Nose: cranberry, orange, hint of earth

Palate: ripe cranberry, orange bitters, apple skin; long finish of apple skin, mineral, pepper; medium+ body; medium+ bubbles; medium acidity

Overall thoughts: A bit less ripe than I prefer and just a touch bitter. Still, this is a good wine. (505 views)
Tasted by Collector1855 on 11/29/2023 & rated 89 points: I am really not a Rosé fan and also struggle with this wine. On the one hand there is good, ripe material in use here, with appropriate phenolics and a dry finish. I just don't find the aromas as attractive as with a normal Champagne. Lots of blackberry, cherry, earthy elements, some herbs, bitter finish as well. I guess I will stick to the excellent BdB's of this grower. 88-90 (1637 views)
Tasted by Orange Tsian on 11/25/2023 & rated 90 points: 香气得体工整,有着树莓、樱桃、红醋栗、梨子和苹果之类的气味,玫瑰精油点缀,酵母带来的鲜奶油和奶昔感轻轻包裹主体,还带来类似栗子泥的味道,整体比较流畅而清淡,容易接受。口感圆润齐整,樱桃、树莓、冰糖雪梨等果味偏熟,后段略带一点植物根茎感以及酵母味,完整度较高。90-91/100 (762 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 10/28/2023 & rated 84 points: La Fête du Champagne Grand Tasting (Pier Sixty - New York NY): Walkaround tasting with the producers. Simple, plain, fun now. 90% Pinot Noir. (845 views)
Tasted by chicsucre on 9/30/2023: Quelle couleur! Transparent pomegranate
On the nose, raspberry-strawberry, pomegranate, rose, flint, yogurt, some ginger
Palate matches the nose, +blood orange & grapefruit peel, lovely bitter finish
Satin texture, with some weight
Wet stones
Med+ finish

The color and even bottle design reminds me of Ulysse Collin
Need to stock up before the prices go crazy hehe
Unfortunately importer doesn’t list any specs on base wine/ disgorgement

Day 2 on the nose some bramble even rosemary also (1054 views)
Tasted by aChave on 9/9/2023 & rated 93 points: Nice intensity in the Pinot Noir fruit and vivacity and the effervescence. everyone enjoyed this a great deal. (1107 views)
Tasted by Lady Chatelaine on 9/2/2023 & rated 91 points: In line with my previous comments, I reiterate my affinity for this « rosé de saignée ».
It’s not cheap but the pleasure is at the rendez-vous (990 views)
Tasted by crazywineguy on 8/26/2023 & rated 91 points: Big Bottle Lunch: Weighty, fruit sweetness although apparently low dosage but you cant tell. Great nose and palate of strawberries and cream. Very drinkable. (932 views)
Tasted by Benoit Hardy on 8/18/2023 & rated 91 points: No disgorgement date.

Very dusty nose at first with an extremely scowl on the palate. A carafe allowed the wine to hatch properly.

Nose of red fruits, smoke and an earthy side.

Mouth with a nice tension, the earthy and spicy aromas dominate, with in the background a diffuse red fruit. One thing is certain, it is that we are not facing a bleeding rosé with immediate pleasure that explodes in the mouth. It is a more cerebral wine, the whole remains strict as often with the house wines that I have tasted. Nice balance that extends into a good spicy and tannic finish. We are clearly on a red wine with bubbles.

Good, but it takes time to get it. What's more, for 90€ nowadays, I prefer to take something else. (928 views)
Tasted by Harley1199 on 8/5/2023: Family Holidays; 7/28/2023-9/10/2023 (Alicante - España): A champagne rosé obtained by bleeding system, which is made by maceration of the ripe grapes of Pinot Noir. For some purists, this is the true rosé. Excellent biodynamic expression of pinot noir with a small percentage of pinot gris (10%). On the nose are some brittle mineral notes, white fruit and wild strawberries. On the palate those subtle bubbles give way to a soft texture, insufficient acidity and delicious aftertaste. At least a true reflection of this champagne house.

(962 views)
Tasted by drjb on 7/14/2023 & rated 93 points: At a private dinner, Brisbane. This a bright Champagne with dollops pf rich Pinot fruit expressed as wild strawberry, blood orange and tart cherries balanced with an intense minerality and grip that makes this a quite distinct expression. There is plenty of persistence with a sneaky line of cherry fruit that continues to balance the rich front palate richness. (880 views)
Tasted by SimonG on 7/7/2023 & rated 88 points: Lunch at La T (La Trompette): Lighter colour than usual, more strawberry than raspberry. Subdued strawberry fruit on the nose. More aperitif than pudding I think, this lacks the deep fruit and mid-palate padding of previous cuvées. Refreshing though. *** (1087 views)
Tasted by Wine Canuck on 7/1/2023 & rated 91 points: An Epic Summer Wine Weekend - Year 2; 6/30/2023-7/2/2023 (Muskoka, Ontario, Canada): This pours light pink in the glass. The nose is straightforward and enjoyable of raspberry, strawberry, white cherry, chalk dust, and white flowers. The palate is well balanced with white cherry and raspberry dominating. Dosage feels like 6 g/l with high acid and a moderate length finish. All in all this was a nice bottle if lacking some of the fireworks you might hope for given the reputation of the producer. In particular this bottle was not terribly rich or autolytic which are traits I value, and to my palate this bottle is behind the Longitude which I adore. (1155 views)
Tasted by IV+ on 6/18/2023 & rated 85 points: Strawberry and cucumber on the nose. Strong bubble and sickly sweet in the mouth. Weird and unpleasant champagne. (851 views)
Tasted by R.H. on 5/15/2023: this was good but not something I'll keep buying. felt a bit one-dimensional. prefer their other wines. (923 views)
Tasted by MC2 Wines on 4/27/2023: Bienvenue a Champagne; 4/20/2023-4/29/2023 (Les Crayeres, various restaurants, Les Avises and a many wonderful producers): Base wine is 2020. Disgorged Nov of 2022. This is a blend of PN and Pinot Gris (not so common) from a single plot. 3 days in concrete egg for Mas creation. Lots of berries, very bright, very pretty. It’s an easier lighter style of bubbles and yet there’s quite a lot of interest there. Bubbles are very fine and light and add to the enjoyment. Like a fresh strawberry field in the spring. (1875 views)
Tasted by lltl2021 on 3/26/2023 & rated 86 points: A little bit too simple, and also watery feel. (1064 views)
Tasted by devraj on 3/4/2023 & rated 92 points: Deep salmon in color. Aromas of lifted red berries, orange citrus oils, hint of baking spice gives way to a very vibrant Pinot based Champagne with captivating acidity, good depth to the pinot berry fruit and a floral and mineral tinged finish. This is very good. (982 views)
Tasted by MJP Hou TX on 1/26/2023 & rated 92 points: Uniquely polarizing wine. The color suggest something other than what the palate delivered. Not sweet, great toast/yeast and fizzle. Would be fun to try this wine with a bit of age to see what that offers. Seems to have a bit of a cult following in the industry.

Tasted by Vanja1 on 12/28/2022 & rated 91 points: Nydelig vin, røde bær. Frisk, lang. (1220 views)
Tasted by bjlcrucrazy on 12/24/2022 & rated 90 points: Had with Christmas 2022 dinner and it paired very well with turkey and all the trimmings. This was an older bottle my last and fruit was fading a bit. (1008 views)
Tasted by bestdamncab on 11/10/2022 & rated 91 points: Flatiron Wine & spirits (San Francisco, Ca.): Almost 100% Pinot Noir, great color in the glass, tiny bubbles, nose of citrus, same on the palate, medium/big body, tasty, rich, long finish, $115. (1443 views)
Tasted by Frank Murray III on 10/26/2022: Man, I just go back and forth with this wine, whether I like it or not. In the case of the bottle last weekend, I just didn't like it all that much. And it's hard for me to say that about the LB wines because across the range from Arthur Larmandier, I buy and enjoy all of them. But this Rose, it's just kind of meh for me. Green apple, with a burnished red fruit, kiwi and tang, along with a raspberry syrup. Aside from the short-lived Maturation Rose program that the winery did and relelesed a few vintages of, a wine I really dug and still open, this other version of Rose is just kind of clunky and not to my liking. Larmandier-Bernier

Producer website

Pierre Larmandier shares a similar philosophy to that of Francois Egly of Egly-Ouriet. Working only with natural yeasts the influence of 'terroir' is all important to the style of his wines, so much so that he uses a minimum 'dosage' (if at all) so as not to mask the wines natural characteristics. Wines are made only from their own 15 hectares of vines, which are an average 33 years old. His holdings are spread across the Cotes des Blancs in the grand crus villages of Cramant, Chouilly, Oger and Avize, and the premier cru of Vertus. There are around fifty separate parcels, all but three of which (representing 0.5 hectares) are farmed using non-officially certified Biodynamic methods.

Champagne Blend

"Champagne blend" is a classic grape blend that typically includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier in any proportions.

However, this blend can also include Arbane, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris), Petit Meslier and/or Pinot Blanc as well.

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Click for a list of bestselling items from all of France.
Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
