| Phi Producer website2019 Phi Chardonnay Lusatia Park VineyardWINEMAKER Steve Webber VINEYARD Lusatia Park was purchased outright by the De Bortoli family in 2016. Prior to that, the vineyard had been a source of some of our finest Chardonnay for 20 years. One of the most well known and respected vineyards in the upper reaches of the Yarra Valley. SEASON Mild dry growing season, timely spring rain, slow ripening, terrific flavour development. An outstanding Chardonnay!
TASTING NOTE Restrained nose, mineral, citrus, white flowers. Fine and textural, a touch of savoury, nutty, oatmeal and gentle acidity.
WINEMAKING The fruit is hand harvested, whole bunch pressed and allowed to settle overnight. The turbid juice is then racked to older French oak casks where it undergoes natural fermentation. The wine is left on yeast lees for 9 months with the occasional stirring. WINE ANALYSIS Alc/Vol: 12.5%, pH: 3.20, TA: 7.0g/L ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Vegan, Vegetarian PHILOSOPHY The PHI philosophy is a collaboration of the third and fourth generations of the De Bortoli family creating considered single vineyard wine from iconic family owned vineyards. REVIEWS "It takes a bit of time to open up, so don’t chill this within an inch of its life. It starts out a bit reserved: a hint of lemon blossom here, a squirt of lemon juice there and then wham! Everything starts coming together quickly. It’s layered with flavour and has a level of complexity. It’s also moreish to the very last drop. 95/100" Halliday Wine Companion August 2021Chardonnay The Chardonnay GrapeAustralia Wine Australia (Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation) | Australian Wines (Wikipedia)Victoria Wines of Victoria (Victorian Wine Industry Association)Yarra Valley Wine Yarra Valley (Yarra Valley Wine Growers Association) |
