Tasted by Marc on 5/14/2024 & rated 90 points: Mourvèdre based rose that is fruitier and less savoury than a Tempier. Excellent balance, delicious raspberry fruit, round texture. Layered and complete finish. (860 views)
Tasted by Acohen on 5/13/2024 & rated 89 points: Crisp strawvberry and acid (802 views)
Tasted by vagrantone on 5/12/2024 & rated 84 points: very much a mixed bag...
They clearly have issues with their screwcaps.
There was a slight lowfill and moldy signs of seepage along the screwcap joint.
The nose was quite simple and fruity.
However, the palate was more interesting and the texture quite nice. (791 views)
Tasted by Mootsie on 4/24/2024 & rated 93 points: Always pays to put a bottle or three of these away for a bit. Tropical fruits, white pepper, mineral. Softer fruits, but still good acidity. Absolutely delicious. Drinks better than the release year. (1395 views)
Tasted by DrewM on 4/21/2024: Previously drunk (1359 views)
Tasted by calriesling on 3/26/2024: First time trying a Bedrock wine, so expectations were high. Fortunately, they were easily met.

Basically no nose. The mouthfeel is sharp and almost crystalline, with light strawberries, melon, grapefruit, acidity, and a bit of salt on the palate. Lots of flavor as well, with the midpalate exceeding the initial taste in intensity. Very easy to drink as well. (1663 views)
Tasted by jpcart on 3/6/2024 & rated 90 points: Great crowd pleaser of a rose. Beautiful nose of lush fruits, with surprising weight and body. (1801 views)
Tasted by thelostverse on 2/28/2024 & rated 90 points: Notes of watermelon and strawberry, with good acidity. Always a good value wine. (1908 views)
Tasted by Marc on 2/28/2024 & rated 90 points: Bouillabaisse night at the wedge (Wanaka Wedge House, Queensberry, Central Otago, New Zealand): Tasted after the AIX rose 2022, this came across as lighter and brighter, with a lovely acid pin-prick quality to the wine. Pale salmon, mineral, red fruits, balanced, structure, with excellent clarity. (1809 views)
Tasted by Pandalikeswine on 2/10/2024 & rated 86 points: Light, good acid, apple (1824 views)
Tasted by Marc on 2/1/2024 & rated 92 points: Drunk after an inexpensive Provençal rose, this was considerably more intense, with a richer mouthfeel, and brighter acids. Big boned, raspberry fruit, dry and direct, with length and presence. An outstanding rose. (1762 views)
Tasted by lvjohn on 1/20/2024 & rated 90 points: We really enjoy this wine and have drunk several vintages of it. I like its somewhat off dry nature and its consistent character. It has proved itself to be excellent with food. (1655 views)
Tasted by Marc on 1/20/2024 & rated 91 points: Superb, powerful and complete rose. A distinct savoury edge adds dimension to the dry and mineral raspberry fruit. Nice length. (1560 views)
Tasted by Dobrie10 on 12/25/2023: Strawberry, melon, a bit of cherry. Nice weighty mouthfeel. (1953 views)
Tasted by dera on 12/7/2023 & rated 91 points: Pale orange-y salmon. Fruity nose with strawberries, watermelon, crushed raspberries, touch of flint, and little eucalyptus. Palate is fresh and with almost creamy mouthfeel, Slightly astringent with underripe strawberries, raspberry seeds, and some peppery spiciness. This is an annual case purchase and 2022 does not disappoint, even though I think I might have preferred 2021 more. Still great stuff, drink with reckless abandon. (2144 views)
Tasted by lvjohn on 10/20/2023 & rated 93 points: Best bottle yet! Drank some late last week and then about a week later after it sat in the refrigerator. I tasted better on the second try with a full more "round" feel in the mouth. The expected purity and fruit were true to form. Very enjoyable. (2672 views)
Tasted by drfloyd on 9/20/2023: Quite nice - beautiful nose - floral but not cloying - has depth. Medium weight on palate but decent persistence - great acidity and a long finish. Joyful (2948 views)
Tasted by hiker_guy on 9/20/2023: Simply a lovely rose.
Served with a homemade turkey meat chili this worked beautifully.
Bright, crisp fruit with tingling acidity. The fruit feels full yet the acidity is high enough to carry it effortlessly over your palate to the crisp finish. Really hard to put the glass down and not take another sip.
Would buy again. (2771 views)
Tasted by ocassiuso on 9/5/2023: Label does not say "old vine". Bottle a reasonable 1197g. Screw cap. Moderately intense aromas of citrus pith...this bottle is too cold at the moment. Dry, with elevated zesty, almost spicy acidity, medium-bodied, 13.5% abv. Some sweet berry fruit, a lot of salinity, and a buzzing, Tempier-like texture that I'm sure they were shooting for. I need to let this warm up. (2625 views)
Tasted by joet626 on 9/3/2023 & rated 90 points: strawberries. Very refreshing (2375 views)
Tasted by kkleg on 9/3/2023 & rated 90 points: A bit more alcohol on the nose than usual, but it doesn’t come through on the palate. Strawberry fruit and some earth, with good acidity. (1939 views)
Tasted by Rywyine on 8/18/2023: No big changes. Refreshing. Tasty. (2091 views)
Tasted by melzar on 8/12/2023 & rated 89 points: Decent California Rosé. Nothing special, but a pleasant summer quaff. (2113 views)
Tasted by ziavino on 7/25/2023 & rated 89 points: Loads of fruit here, with notes of watermelon, cherry, and strawberry coalescing throughout. Just enough acid to keep it moving, and while a tad simple, this is a nice and luscious rose that paired well with a NY Strip. (2528 views)
Tasted by joet626 on 7/22/2023 & rated 90 points: Same as previous bottle. Light and delicious. A perfect summer quaff (2325 views)

2022 Bedrock Wine Co. Ode to Lulu Old Vine Rosé

From release newsletter

2022 Ode to Lulu Rosé, California

It is amazing to think this is our 15th year making this wine. Never did I think, when I whole-cluster pressed a couple of tons of Bedrock Mourvèdre back in 2008, that it would become one of the most popular wines we make. One thing I did know then still holds true, though: we, as a winery crew, drink more of this than any other wine we make.

Over the last decade and a half, we have learned a lot about making this wine and the intricacies of making great rosé—of finding the balance between mouthwatering freshness and fruit weight, of finding that beautiful drop of grapefruit, stone fruit, and tarragon-like perfume that Mourvèdre can provide, while also maintaining its lightness of color and being. We are extremely proud of the 2022. As it has been for the last several vintages, it is based around old-vine Mourvèdre grown in the sands of Contra Costa County and supplemented with Grenache and a bit of Syrah from other nice sites in Sonoma and El Dorado County. $20

Rosé Blend

"Rosé blend" can mean a blend of just about any varietals since the designation comes from the resulting color of the wine.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
