Tasted by ewisor on 12/11/2013 & rated 84 points: Consistent with my previous note. Also as others have noted, this one needs an hour or so to burn off an initial sulfur smell and start to start to show itself. (4948 views)
Tasted by cucycling on 11/10/2013 & rated 88 points: solid value weeknight zin, I hope 2011 is it's equil (5141 views)
Tasted by wintergreen on 10/16/2013 & rated 87 points: needed a couple hours to show the goods

nose: brambly raspberry, sugarcane, but mostly a ton of penetrating spice

palate: bright cherries/red fruit. theres a bit of sweetness but my mouth is getting acid-raped. kinda light in body. decent rough tannins. good medium finish of oak and almost overwhelming spiciness.

very aggresive. i dont really like this style but theres nothing wrong with it. maybe in a couple years it'll soften enough. (3299 views)

Tasted by ProfPaul on 6/6/2013: An impressive not-expensive wine ($10). Medium to full body, fruit forward with blackberry predominating along with raspberry but balanced with pepper and spice, plus some licorice at the back end. Lingering finish – longer than expected at this price point. I’ll be getting more of this one! (2407 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
