Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruits aromas of cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of spices, a bit briary, herbs, pepper, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, herbs, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but should develop further with additional aging. A lovely Zin! Have had a couple cases of this and it always tastes well with appetizers, dinner or just relaxing in the evening. Good for all occasions. (684 views) | | Tasted by Rodenbach99 on 3/17/2024 & rated 91 points: Chocolat, fruits confits. Bouche avec du chocolat, prune et framboise. C'est puissant, long, tannique simple mais délicieux. Nice and lively, but not too jammy and overblown. Well done. (1109 views) | | Tasted by bbcc66 on 11/4/2023 & rated 90 points: Decanted 1/2 hr. Drank over 2 days. Day 2 was a bit tastier than day 1. Consistent, lively tastes of red & dark berries, cherry and spice. (1397 views) | | Tasted by Jobu on 7/2/2023: I love Seghesio and bought a bunch of these when I saw WS gave it 94 points. It’s good, but not close to that now. It needs a little more time. It’s really smooth on opening, but lacks those great Zin characteristics. They do come out with time, which gives me hope that this can be really good. Will leave the rest sit and drink the Sonoma County in the meantime. (2023 views) | | Tasted by gharter on 3/19/2023 & rated 90 points: Big aromas with red cherry, black berry, anise, spice. Medium bodied with red and black fruit, spicy, a meatiness, earth and floral. Good acidity, light tannins in the finish. (2066 views) | | Tasted by Sid G on 3/16/2023 & rated 89 points: More flavorful than 2019 vintage previously rated. Nice strawberry fruitiness up front, a touch of spice, and a nice smooth finish. A well made Zinfandel. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountySonoma CountySonoma Coast |
