Tasted by df1962 on 3/2/2024 & rated 92 points: PnD let air for 2hrs.

Consistent with previous note. Love the raspberry ganache fruit. (240 views)
Tasted by Dhunternm on 11/13/2023 flawed bottle: ?Mold infection (409 views)
Tasted by Night Train on 10/7/2023 & rated 90 points: Pretty sweet. Nice nose -- mostly herbs and garrigue. Assorted berries on the palate, along with the herbs. Medium body, decent finish. Impressively well knit and integrated. Very smooth and balanced. Didn't blow me away, but impressed me with its balance and restraint. Tannins are still present, but are subdued. I think it's at its peak, and I think it will be there for another year or so. (436 views)
Tasted by andrei trolldeig on 6/21/2023 & rated 90 points: Bought on auction last year for 30-40 €.
Consist mainly of grenache, with some syrah and mourverdre. Sees fairly new oak. But its well integreres at this point.
Needs only about 15 mins to open up. Cool restrained pleasure, not from fruit aromas, but with the drive coming from garrigue: the big sprinklers of dried provencial spices.
Notes from the second day: nose of thyme, juniper, smoke, plum in madeira. Smooth palate with dusty tannins and thimian, lets stick to a rellaxed fruit referance with plum. Lenght increases with time out in the air (585 views)
Tasted by pjjsmith on 9/11/2022 & rated 93 points: Big nose - black tea, black olives, aniseed, liquorice, coffee.
Lots going on with the palate - Dark fruits - plum, black currant, liquorice, and subtle spice.
Nicely balanced fruit, acidity, and tannins deliver an elegance. This is a medium bodied wine with good length.
An excellent wine with complexity and charm. Drinking well now. Decantered 2 hours prior to drinking. Enjoyed by all. (1198 views)
Tasted by JNebs on 1/6/2022 & rated 93 points: This is drinking very well now. Very well balanced fruit, acidity and tannin. Plumb, chokecherry, tar, earth. Puckery tannins faulty well integrated. Outstanding with flank steak. (1517 views)
Tasted by Doc Malvern on 3/20/2021 & rated 89 points: Brooding black fruits. Balanced tannins and acidity. (2028 views)
Tasted by df1962 on 7/17/2020 & rated 92 points: PnD let air for 2hrs.

Clear deep ruby.

Clean. Medium(+)intensity with aromas of black raspberry olive garrigue cherry and a touch of tar.

Dry. Medium tannins. Medium acidity. Medium(+) alcohol. Medium(+) body. Medium(+) intensity with flavours of black raspberry olive cherry herbs and tar.

Medium(+) finish. Very food. Drink now and over the next five years. Deep delicious and fresh. Wow for an “off” vintage. Great producer. (2413 views)
Tasted by Motz on 5/25/2020 & rated 92 points: Over two days. I could, and would be delighted to, drink this correct and appealing offering every day. It delivers profound substance and depth. Likely to peak by 2025 or so. Satisfying! (2646 views)
Tasted by cmr on 4/26/2020 & rated 91 points: Classic (1939 views)
Tasted by sooper65 on 8/27/2019 & rated 91 points: Very inky and sweet and gorgeous... more a wine for winter though (2330 views)
Tasted by Motz on 4/29/2019 & rated 91 points: A lot going on with this this excellent wine. Savory, well framed, and deftly balanced. Leaning more toward the open-knit richness of CdP than the high-tension mineral depth that typifies Gigondas. A touch more of anything would have put this over the top. (2320 views)
Tasted by Aschi on 2/17/2019 & rated 89 points: Opened, decanted for 1 hour. Smell of smoke, I can notice the liquorice mentioned by others. Tannins have softened, wine is medium long, elegant. Had it with Papet Vaudois, which is a Swiss (French part) leek & potato stew, with a slightly smoked meaty pork sausage in it. Delicious combination. (1840 views)
Tasted by AlphaMikeFoxtrot on 2/8/2019 & rated 92 points: Ripe dark fruits and fresh ground black pepper - straight from the mill. Full bodied, medium tannins and drinking beautifully! (701 views)
Tasted by hoservin on 12/20/2018 & rated 90 points: Popped and poured. Nose of blackberry, black plum, blueberry, licorice and garrigue. Black and blue fruit, licorice, garrigue and juicy tannins on the palate. Long finish. Medium to full bodied. Served with grilled pork chops. (1591 views)
Tasted by WineArchitect on 11/17/2018 & rated 90 points: Brought up from the cellar to come to room temperature. Popped after 1 1/2 hours. Light aromatics of earth and smoke. Very light on fruit as well as the mid palate. EG #ArchitecturalArtistry #WineArchitect (1872 views)
Tasted by JNebs on 9/22/2018 & rated 90 points: Rich red fruits and long finish over chewed tannins. Needs at least 1-hr decant, when components start coming together. Loses a lot after 1 night in the fridge. (1398 views)
Tasted by hoservin on 6/15/2018 & rated 91 points: Popped and poured. Nose of blackberry, plum, garrigue and licorice. Black and red fruit, garrigue and ripe tannins on the palate. Finishes with good length. Full bodied. Served with macaroni and cheese. (1265 views)
Tasted by qtsam11 on 4/29/2018 & rated 89 points: I wish there was a bit more spice. Nose is wonderful but a little light on the palate. (1983 views)
Tasted by GDa202 on 4/27/2018 & rated 92 points: Some days you get a wine that is in such a good place. This “basic” St Cosme is in a brilliant place right now. Far better than I recall previous bottles A warm complex embrace, dark red fruit, subtle spice. Wonderful. (1700 views)
Tasted by GDa202 on 3/8/2018 & rated 89 points: Lovely dark red fruit flavours. Smokey, lovely tannins, some lovely peppery spices and good minerality. Rather a nice drop. (1609 views)
Tasted by Twinkles on 1/13/2018 & rated 89 points: Not as good as last time. Berries and pepper on day 1, felt really hot and not well defined on day 2. (1678 views)
Tasted by Twinkles on 11/25/2017 & rated 90 points: Spicy, peppery goodness. Very crisp feel, does not linger much though.
Excellent! (2118 views)
Tasted by ChrisWagner on 10/21/2017 & rated 91 points: Powerful, yet nuanced. (1959 views)
Tasted by RWG on 9/30/2017 & rated 91 points: Really nice strong showing. 4h decant. Has more life ahead. Smoky, brooding, robust fruit. (2109 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
