And those notes still hold as well. Nice with spicy fried chicken. (1616 views) | | Tasted by merryberry on 1/13/2019 & rated 91 points: This disappeared in a flash. Floral and mineral nose, good body, delicious citrus, and a tart/sweet medium length finish. (766 views) | | Tasted by TC16 on 5/19/2017 & rated 90 points: I'm not a huge fan of Gewurtz, but this was a good bottle. All the floral notes while staying dry and not being cloying. Too many are flabby and this is definitely not in that category. Little peach and tangerine to go with the flowers. Finishes a bit bitter. Low acidity, but it seems appropriate to the wine rather than a negative. (1060 views) | | Tasted by Tim Heaton on 1/27/2017: The best Gewurz in CA? I think it's close. Certainly in the top 5. Served with a jerk pork rib dish, this just killed it. And, if I'm being honest, it was finished in pretty much record time. This (12,5%abv) is gulpable, refreshing on a grand scale, and very correct to the variety, something that CA is wont to to with non-native grapes. Only a whisper of sweetness on this; a good distance away from off-dry. This has substance, complexity, and balance. No kidding, I went online and bought a mixed case, straightaway. Larry's wines are honest, correct and balanced enough for an old AFWE like me to say, booyah!, I want more. (In all honesty, I've tried so, so many 'takes' on Gewurz from CA that I'd pretty much given up, but Larry gets it. He gets it, real good. Buy. Now. SUCH a good food wine; yowzers! recommended
SnP, served non-blind. (1488 views) | | Tasted by PIntag on 8/18/2015: Very tasty white, though not one of my favorite Outliers. (1317 views) | | Tasted by PIntag on 6/28/2015: Another good showing from this wine, but clearly not up to the level of the other Tercero 2013 whites that I've tried lately (Grenache Blanc, Viognier, and Verbiage Blanc). Says more about the quality of these others than the Outlier, which is very good. (1084 views) | | Tasted by klezman on 4/24/2015: Amazing. Just a tiny hint of sugar while the aromatics and lychee bring it all together. Perfect balance, even I'd prefer it even more dry. (2273 views) | | Tasted by J @ y H @ c k on 3/18/2015 & rated 90 points: Unnumbered March 2015 PDH Berserkerfest (PDH): Unscrewed and poured, then closed after about three hours and brought home and retasted after two days without refrigeration. Very interesting wine. characteristic lychee nuts and some spice, but the roughness often found in Alsatian Gewurztraminer was missing, replaced by a floral component like a good light Riesling. Light and easy to drink but with plenty of flavor and complexity. Delicious. (1609 views) | | Tasted by Sftx21 on 3/14/2015 & rated 87 points: nice for the style, not a favorite varietal (794 views) | | Tasted by Dagalaifus on 2/20/2015 & rated 90 points: Pale straw with aromas and flavors of tropical fruit, melon, white flowers and green apples. The wine is off-dry (almost demi-sec) with a medium-length finish. Well-done, but I've never been a big fan of this varietal. (844 views) | | Tasted by MattMauldin on 1/12/2015: Pale, lemon color. Aromas of tropical fruit, melon and fresh-cut flowers. Off-dry on the palate with medium acid. Full intense flavors of lychee and sweet yellow apple along with tinges of minerality and floral notes. Bright with a lush richness. The acid is enough to cut the sweetness. Clean juicy finish. Very well done. (876 views) | | Tasted by MillerRoad on 12/28/2014 & rated 90 points: A go-to white. Has nice balance of acidity and weight. Enough sweet fruit to standup to spicy foods. Lively. Nice aromatics. (766 views) | | Tasted by PIntag on 12/14/2014 & rated 91 points: I'm generally not a fan of off-dry whites, but the flavors of this interesting wine are a real treat. There is good acidity to keep it lively in the mouth. I've loved this in every vintage. (761 views) | | Tasted by brigcampbell on 11/26/2014: Very light color. Big perfume nose and pear fruit. Palate is loaded with acid and strong pear flavors. Very clean finish. I like this vintage better than the last few and they were good. (859 views) | | Tasted by MillerRoad on 11/16/2014 & rated 90 points: Nice sweet fruit profile, yet crisp with some pectin (pears) and apricot. Gentle floral and light perfume notes. Pairs great with Thai. Drank soon after delivery. (628 views) | | Tasted by MillerRoad on 8/24/2014 & rated 91 points: I always enjoy this wine. Wife loves it. Nice balance of fruit, floral, spice, and yet crisp. GREAT food wine. Went well with Thai and with Mediterranean. (607 views) | | Tasted by MillerRoad on 8/24/2014 & rated 91 points: Drank second bottle the very next day. That's how good and versatile this wine it. (643 views) |
| Tercero Producer websiteGewürztraminer Varietal Character (Appellation America)USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Central Coasthttp://www.ccwinegrowers.org/links.html
