Tasted by ddavoust on 11/6/2017 & rated 93 points: Nice creamy Spanish varietal. Great with Mediterranean cuisine. Good acidity. Medium, pleasant finish. (1719 views)
Tasted by Smjones02 on 9/12/2016: Awesome!!! Big heavy rich flavor!
(2328 views)
Tasted by shellylowen on 8/6/2016 & rated 90 points: Crisp and with lots of flavor (2313 views)
Tasted by aburch on 4/6/2016 & rated 91 points: Quite good, nice acid structure, rich oak and butter. Full bodied. Drink now. (2635 views)
Tasted by Graniwinkle on 10/12/2015 & rated 90 points: Medium gold. Nose: lemon cream, minerals. Taste: crisp, rich, bright, lemon cream cake, buttery, minerals in finish with zest. Holds very well. (2792 views)
Tasted by bugdoced on 11/15/2014 & rated 90 points: melon apricots and some minerals
went well with some salmon (2090 views)
Tasted by brigcampbell on 11/9/2014 & rated 90 points: Last of the bottle for this vintage and will require a reload. As mentioned in the previous notes, good balance of acid, medium plus weight but not flabby, stone fruit and pear, resulting in what is the best of Viognier and chardonnay. I should take a point off for the size of the bottle, it might be a champagne bottle or bigger. (1460 views)
Tasted by funwinesports on 10/29/2014 & rated 89 points: What a lovely wine this is! The fruit is beautiful - reminds me of a riper/ richer style Albarino. There is just a kiss of oak to accompany an almost (but not quite) Chardonnay-like richness, with more of a sweet stone-fruit and tangerine profile, than apple/ orchard. Great "off the beaten path" wine to try. (1442 views)
Tasted by khmark7 on 8/3/2014 & rated 88 points: Reminds me of a nice Chablis. Nice stuff. (1517 views)
Tasted by slywka7 on 8/2/2014 & rated 91 points: Aromas of Stoney mineral, lemon and flowers. Not as creamy as the 2010, this has flavors of mango, lemon, lime and ends with a nice mineralilty. Beautiful acidity here as well and the finish is very pleasing. (1281 views)
Tasted by wineamateur on 7/15/2014 & rated 86 points: Holiday Spanish Wines 2014; 7/4/2014-7/21/2014: Honeyed lemon on the nose. A bit too much lemony acidity on the palate for my taste. The oak is pretty well integrated, but I didn't find this the most giving of wines. Didn't really call one back for another glass. 13.5%. [replacement bottle for one that was corked, exchanged without fuss by the shop.] (1399 views)
Tasted by LoireFan on 5/5/2014 & rated 90 points: Rich. Also ridiculously heavy bottle. (1164 views)
Tasted by Motz on 4/4/2014 & rated 90 points: Consistent with previous note. A powerful wine but with a bitter edge at present. (1146 views)
Tasted by Motz on 3/1/2014 & rated 90 points: Godello is a rounded and full-bodied variety, reminiscent of Sémillon. This wine features an excellent and juicy mouthfeel. Citrus and fall fruits dominate the palate. A healthy whack of oak shows on the finish, along with a slightly bitter edge. These should settle with time. (975 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 1/17/2014 & rated 88 points: Chicago Wine Flock..."Dennis Shares Spain" (Casa de la Mata - Chicago IL): Tasted double blind. Lots of floral charm with some sweet apple and oak hints. Plenty of apple and pear flavors, accessible and fat but a little simple. Slight bitter edge on very end that will probably dissipate in another year. (1983 views)
Tasted by Decanting fool on 1/12/2014 & rated 90 points: A lively and persistent yeast remarkably evocative of champagne leaps out of the glass and is the most distinctive aspect of this wine. Out of the gate the flavor is aggressively floral and mouth filling without being unctuous thanks to a satisfying slatey minerality, but the oak marks this as more fat than lean. However, the next day, the floral element having dissipated, the earthy minerality really comes to the fore and makes this a very distinctive and delightful white. (1057 views)
Tasted by brigcampbell on 1/1/2014: Always enjoyable. Medium gold color. Pear and floral nose. Stone fruit and pear flavors. Medium finish. Medium acidity. Medium plus weight. Excellent wine for seafood. This wine receives bonus points for the "what the heck is godello?" after people taste it for the first time. (834 views)
Tasted by eluebchow on 12/12/2013 & rated 92 points: Bright and concentrated flavors of pear, stone fruit and lemon peel, with excellent balancing acidity with an undertone of chalky slate and minerals. This is less full bodied than previous vintages, but I think even more delicious -- more restrained, more balanced and another great value. (840 views)
Tasted by davestenton on 11/15/2013: Another excellent vintage of this wine. Less rich than the 2010 but greater purity with juicy citrus and an intensely stony core. Stylistically - and qualitatively - this bears comparison with Côte de Beaune 1er Crus; one of the finest Godellos I've tasted. (872 views)
Tasted by markcic on 10/27/2013 & rated 89 points: Very interesting and enjoyable wine, chardonnay without oak but a touch of flowers or as another taster put it, caramel. Served as an aperitif. (772 views)
Tasted by brigcampbell on 3/23/2013 & rated 90 points: Rock solid. Taste like a combination of chardonnay and viognier which is a good thing. The balance is perfect between the zesty fruit and acid. Always a great pairing with shrimp, and dare I say, grilled asparagus. (1424 views)
Tasted by vinosean on 3/1/2013 & rated 89 points: Color: Transparent gold
Nose: Tart lemons and light caramel
Palate: White peaches, lemon peel, caramel corn, and hazelnut. Great acidity and minerality
Finish: Medium (1349 views)
Tasted by mpsocal on 2/17/2013 & rated 89 points: This was a very tasty wine. Can't beat it for $20. It is better than some wines i've had for twice that price. (1474 views)

Spain

Vinos de España - Wines of Spain (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior) | Wikipedia
Wine Map on weinlagen-info

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net

Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.

Galicia

Galicia is an autonomous region in the northwestern corner of Spain, north of Portugal. It is marked by an atlantic climate with frequent rain and moderate temperatures, especially along the coastal regions. There are five Denominación de Origen (DO) areas: Monterrei, Rías Baixas, Ribeira Sacra, Ribeiro and Valdeorras. Probably the best known wines are the Albariño wines from Rias Baixas, but all regions have seen increased interest in recent years. There has been also a notable resurgence of local grapes, like Godello, Treixadura or Loureiro.

Valdeorras

Valdeorras (Valley of Gold) is the easternmost wine region of Galicia, with wineyards on the banks of the river Sil in the southern part of the Ourense province. The climate is a mix of atlantic and continental with high rainfall, but warm summers. Godello, an indigenous grape, is becoming important again. Other white grapes are Palomino, Valenciana and Lado. Mencía, Garnacha Tintorera, Gran Negro and Merenzao are in use as red grapes.
