Typical dark purple almost opaque color. The expected upfront, though mature, blueberry and plum entrance. Less acid than from most other places. Still some youngish vanilla from oak. So wonderfully ripe. The mid palate and finish exhibit black currants mushrooms and earth. (942 views) |

This bottle on the other hand was really nice. Time has helped. Huge fruit and still big and in your face in the "M-Dooker style" - but smoother around the edges this time which made it really enjoyable. One to go in the cellar. On the palate, the wine was tart and acidic. Most of the fruit had dissipated and all that was left was a slight cedar and herbal taste. The blackberry is still prominent, with hints of blueberry, pomergrantit, spice and chocolate. I have always thought that the wines from MD at this level newer best consume young for their big in your face fruit, if you have them I would seriously consider consuming soon. (2766 views) |
