Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 11/11/2014: Pretty on the nose and palate with herb notes and cherry fruit. Soft, but still with drive and energy. (4229 views)
Tasted by GEvans on 7/18/2014 & rated 90 points: Full bodied, deep red wine. (4231 views)
Tasted by richardkim on 7/12/2014 & rated 91 points: Funk on the nose. The palate is bright, with blackberry and darker fruits, a hint of roasted game. There is a minerality and acidity which give lift. The fruit is on the wane, but tonight was extremely enjoyable. (4148 views)
Tasted by geppetto on 4/23/2014 & rated 90 points: Really nice and still drinking well. This was my last bottle and I would have liked a few more to follow it for a couple more years. A tiny bit of barnyard funk (which I love) and still has lots of fruit left. (4452 views)
Tasted by Barry Notes on 1/13/2014 & rated 87 points: PnP. Red w/slight bricking. This drank a bit flat. Getting a bit porty vs. fruity. Fairly big and rich, maybe a bit overextracted. Maybe waited too long. Nice but not exciting. Gift (4700 views)
Tasted by godx on 12/21/2013 & rated 90 points: No formal notes. Drinking very well. No roasted notes. Two bottles consumed with consistent notes. Excellent. (1869 views)
Tasted by BVal on 3/28/2013 & rated 89 points: Color: medium ruby -> diffuse light ruby rim showing slight bricking. Bouquet of cherries and rosemary. Palate is surprising for me since it is much changed since I last tasted it about 12-18 months ago. I remember a much bigger, edgier wine exhibiting more minerality and presence. Time is being unkind as I see this flattening out and becoming more muted while not gaining any complexity. Quite a shame since I really liked the last several bottles. That being said, the palate definitely shows more syrah than grenache; black fruit and some provencal spices. Medium bodied with a bit of a muddled mid-palate. Good lengthy finish but not really going anywhere . . . .

Early on, I had thought this to be like pouring together two half bottles of a CDP and a really good California syrah. Now it just reminds me of a gently fading, growing too old Cali syrah.
Take home message: drink these young! (2376 views)
Tasted by honest bob on 1/15/2013 & rated 85 points: From 75cl, good cork. Decanted at cellar temperature and followed over 2 hours. Pleasantly savoury aroma, more Syrah than Grenache, with hints of thyme, even lavendar. The palate not as convincing, mercifully a little softer than I remember from last time, but still a good deal more rustic and more like an everyday Southern French blend than the reviews and hype led me to expect at time of purchase. Glad to have downed my final bottle. 85P (2655 views)
Tasted by godx on 11/30/2012 & rated 89 points: No formal notes. These two bottles were drinking better than the bottle opened yesturday. More poopy funk and less roasted character. Drinking well now and should continue to do so for another 3-5 years. 2 bottles consumed with consistent notes. Very good. (2542 views)
Tasted by godx on 11/29/2012 & rated 88 points: Popped and poured. In a good spot, well-balanced with hints of development on the nose and darker, slightly roasted cherries. Solid acidity, fine tannins and a smooth and softer mouthfeel. My only complaint was the slight roasted note on the nose. Drink now and for another 3-5 years. Very good. (2464 views)
Tasted by stoneb on 9/28/2012 & rated 86 points: This is aging rapidly. Nice enough on opening, with rich syrah fruit and white pepper but muted nose. Fades quickly. Drink up. (2468 views)
Tasted by DRS-Inc on 8/25/2012 flawed bottle: 80% Syrah/20% Grenache blend. Suspected this was flawed, as detected quite notable Brett-infused 4-EP (strong scents of band-aids) at PnP that mostly dissipated over a few hrs. yet was left w/what I felt was a V.A. tainted quality. Overly rich, dense & sweet black fruit profile (kinda like a liqueur) w/strong notes of black licorice & garrigue framed by lavendar, some green pepper, herb, anise-like spice & medicinal syrup. Unbalanced, w/low acidity, full-body, and a hot & moderately lingering finish. Perhaps this does not apply to my palate at this stage, as I have enjoyed this producer's other bottlings in the past.  Tasted by mbalk on 8/18/2012 & rated 87 points: my last bottle. definitely at its end of life. flat, despite a decent ruby red appearance. that said an hour after opening, it seemed to develop some body and structure and even some tannins. medium bodied, simple, with a hint of red fruits. not bad . not great. I am glad its my last bottle. (1941 views)
Tasted by iamandyc on 7/8/2012 & rated 90 points: This wine drank differently from others' comments for me tonight. It was a very delicate treatment of syrah with some acidic freshness and nice but not juicy dark fruits. Finish was medium and smooth. Nery nice suprize. (1777 views)
Tasted by honest bob on 12/22/2011 & rated 86 points: My tongue feels like a strip of raw leather after drinking this extremely dry, tannic, furry Rhône wine. None of the plump sensuality of the 2007 vintage; this was a real surpise after several more juicy bottles tasted not all that long ago and recorded on CT with TNs I can - on this evening's showing - no longer understand (=nachvollziehen). 86P(?)  Tasted by kalle303 on 12/7/2011 & rated 87 points: first day without decanting 87. second day a bit better 89 (2642 views)
Tasted by honest bob on 7/19/2011 & rated 88 points: Pleasant blackberry aroma with a touch of lavender; medium-bodied, sweetish entry with slightly unripe blackberry and some glycerine promises more than the uncomplicated, not-quite-appealingly-green midpalate delivers; slightly dry finish. Good for another 2-3 years. 88P (3142 views)
Tasted by MaHaMa on 6/18/2011 & rated 89 points: Starting to brown in the edges.
The nose is very nice - sweet tones, thyme, sweet pepper, brown sugar.
On the palate powerful but very balanced, spices, sweet fruits.
Over all a very nice wine from in my eyes the best producer in Ventoux. (3276 views)
Tasted by cgatesman on 4/11/2011 & rated 91 points: Mmmm...Deer Blood! (3693 views)
Tasted by honest bob on 2/24/2011 & rated 87 points: Sweet sweet sweet. Spice? no. Tannins? no. Complexity? no. Just sweet sweet sweet Grenache fruit. May become more interesting when it starts drying out after a few years. 87P? (3589 views)
Tasted by Eric Guido on 1/29/2011 & rated 91 points: The nose showed spicy plum skin and brown sugar. On the palate, I found blackberry and Indian spices with black pepper. This wine is in a great place now and feels like silk on the palate with a fresh, medium long finish. (3838 views)
Tasted by Wising on 1/4/2011 & rated 89 points: Best bottle so far. Starting to open up and showing more red berry fruit from Grenache, combined with some pepper in the background. (3872 views)
Tasted by Wising on 10/20/2010 & rated 88 points: Popped and poured. Still very young. Initially a bit closed with dark berry fruit and licorice. After a while it opens up a bit and I also got some peppery and smoky tones. Fresh and "chewy" on the palate. Big wine, 14,5% alcohol, and not the most complex, but a nice glass of wine. (4392 views)
Tasted by NeuroDoc on 10/13/2010 & rated 89 points: not very complex. decanted 1/2 hour. slightly tight initially. then a medium bodied, light tannin granache based wine. i would call it one dimensional. it seemed to go well with barbecue chicken and sweet potatoes. (4535 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
